To think it's rude to asking how much it costs?

I've had cosmetic surgery and it's something very noticeable. I'm very open with it but I'm sick of the first question being - how much did it cost??

Aibu? It's none of anyone's business

Well, cosmetic surgery is still in the realms of superficial really isn't it, so if e.g. Someone shows up with a bloody great diamond on their hand people automatically wonder what that cost. In the same vain cosmetic surgery is a lifestyle choice and a luxury which most people either don't desire or can't afford, but would be up there with the £££ diamond and thus the curiosity would be the same.

If someone needs to alter their appearance that much that it's noticeable then they shouldn't really be surprised that people wonder about the cost of that, and asking why someone would want to have it done is far more intrusive.

You've had your toes amputated so you can wear size 2 shoes?

A fake six-pack inserted?

A pointy chin made round?

viques · 01/05/2017 14:42

very obvious it was not done on the NHS

In that case it must be humongous bosoms.

Oh no, can't be that as it's a rare surgery.

OK, I give up, you have to tell me now.

SweetChickadee · 01/05/2017 14:43

I really want elf ears now....

Sgtmajormummy · 01/05/2017 14:44

Those razor-sharp cheekbone implants à la Lady Gaga?

Zubba · 01/05/2017 14:45

Kim k sized arse implants ... hard to miss them if you pancaked beforehand.

BrexitSucks · 01/05/2017 14:47

I'd be fascinated to know how much it cost!
Don't want one, but always curious how people make decisions in their lives.

Just say "I'd rather keep that private" ?

Emmageddon · 01/05/2017 14:48

A 3rd boob?

BrexitSucks · 01/05/2017 14:49

or a joke.... "too much!"

"less than my car"
"I only needed a second mortgage..." etc. & breeze onwards.

TheNameIsBarbara · 01/05/2017 14:50

I'll admit that I'd definitely ask the cost of a rhinoplasty procedure, only because I am very interested in getting it done and know that the cost varies wildly depending on the surgeon.

I don't know what cosmetic surgery would be so rare but so obvious though?

TheNameIsBarbara · 01/05/2017 14:51

Is that third boob thing real? Shock

Oblomov17 · 01/05/2017 14:51

100 people?

TupperwareTat · 01/05/2017 14:51

Oh I really need to know now, please PM me the details, especially if it was jaw/chin surgery.

As for people in RL commenting, its nothing to do with them!

paxillin · 01/05/2017 14:51

I'd be stumped for an innocent question. I'd try not to mention the surgery as a first instinct, but that's probably rude, you want it to be noticed, surely? People can't say it is better, that sounds rude, implying it was bad before. Did it hurt is daft, because naturally it did. Why did you do it is a bit personal. Cost seems a "safe" question.

zen1 · 01/05/2017 14:56

I was thinking the same as paxillin. If it's something very obvious, people would feel stupid for appearing not to notice, so would feel the need to make a comment without trying to be too offensive.

Ariawyn · 01/05/2017 14:57

Can I have a pm pls...?

TheMysteriousJackelope · 01/05/2017 15:00

If I met someone who had plastic surgery I would say something like 'Well it looks great, are you happy with how it turned out?'. Asking how much something cost is crass. If people want to know they can ask which doctor you used and go to them for a quote.

Asking purely so they can go judgmental on you is just nasty. Look at how much people spend on clothes, beauty treatments, make-up, shoes, hair over a lifetime to make themselves look good. Spread out the cost of plastic surgery by the years it is going to last and it doesn't seem so unreasonable. Plenty of people have plastic surgery to make life easier - such as breast reductions to fix muscle strain and aching backs and shoulders.

MyCalmX · 01/05/2017 15:05

Can someone get a pm and then tell the rest of us please Grin

If you are happily talking about then people probably assume you don't mind.

Personally I think if my neighbours can find out what I paid for my house you can share plastic surgery cost.

DonutCone · 01/05/2017 15:06

Ok, I need a PM Grin

ChasedByBees · 01/05/2017 15:09

I would really like a PM too, I can't think what would be so rare yet so noticeable!

PossumInAPearTree · 01/05/2017 15:10

Maybe people are curious rather than judging you for spending the money?

pseudonymity · 01/05/2017 15:10

PM please!

Huskylover1 · 01/05/2017 15:14

So funny Grin

Krispiesquare · 01/05/2017 15:15

I need to know OP!

Krispiesquare · 01/05/2017 15:16

Also are they asking how much it cost because it's so rare?
