What's your most shameful crappy meal for the DC?

Sometimes I don't want to think about what to make for dinner, I make pasta with nothing but olive oil and a bit of salt on top and then I scatter chorizo on it.

The kids love it and think it's a treat. 'Grin

Today (I'm in Oz and it's night here) I made them that but served them with corn on the cob too as a side vegetable.

What are your crappy, easy go-to meals for kids?

Plain cheeseburger happy meal Blush

Ds has had about four of these ever and I wish I'd never given him one.

I'm hounded now for 'old McDonald's'. (There is some confusion between the nursery rhyme and the burger place in his head).

LagunaBubbles · 26/04/2017 11:17

Is this a stealth boast OP? No way is pasta and chorizo "crappy and shameful", no way at all! You just want other people to come on and say ready meals etc to feel superior. Hmm

Zaphodsotherhead · 26/04/2017 11:17

Two soft boiled eggs with a slice of toast laden with butter. And extra salt. Followed by a pack of two Belgian Buns.

God, I'm hungry now...

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 26/04/2017 11:18

Marmite pasta is one of DS favourites although he has started enjoying the odd microwave pizza Blush

He is nearly 17 so it's up to him.

justwait · 26/04/2017 11:21

Marmite pasta is amazing

Mulledwine1 · 26/04/2017 11:21

Gosh, where to start with rubbish meals:

Tin of tomato soup is my height of laziness

also:

Scampi with chips or mash

Left-over chicken from Sunday roast with mash or chips (and veg)

DS now likes pasta and pesto which gives me another lazy meal

supernoodles a few times
microwave spag bol
tinned ravioli

Allington · 26/04/2017 11:23

Super noodles. To salve my conscience I add some frozen peas and grate some cheese over.

Always a hit with DD...

LesLavandes · 26/04/2017 11:24

When my son was around 12 months he only ate dry baguette.... eventually he progressed onto pasta, no sauce until he was err 5. Hanging my head in shame 😔. Now he is 14, big strong rugby player, eats absolutely everything. However, he still enjoys a lonesome baguette 😂😂

BeMorePanda · 26/04/2017 11:25

Linguine with truffle shavings - so quick and easy when we dash in hungry after waterpolo practice - I make the linguine before we go out.

The little one picks off the truffle though.

jarhead123 · 26/04/2017 11:25

Pizza :)

Crunchymum · 26/04/2017 11:26

Mc Donalds Shock

Or some other take away. Kids also love Dominos and Nandos.

Maybe once every few weeks. I am a scuzzbag Grin

C0untDucku1a · 26/04/2017 11:26

How does one make marmite pasta? It sounds like something id like

Ipigglemustdie · 26/04/2017 11:27

Box of biscuits 😁

Vroomster · 26/04/2017 11:28

Pasta, pesto and cheese. Much loved in our house.

Pizza and garlic bread.

Fish fingers, chips and beans. Although we don't have it that much.

BeMorePanda · 26/04/2017 11:28

Marmite Pasta

EmmalinaC · 26/04/2017 11:28

Me and DH are both working from home today. I've just sent him to Greggs.

EmmalinaC · 26/04/2017 11:29

I would NEVER allow this if DCs were not at school.

judychicago · 26/04/2017 11:31

For me curry supper noodles with a slice of bread, I wouldn't give my dc this though but sometimes do toast with beans and some grated cheese as a hasty dinner. I always feel a bit crap about giving them that but they love it!

MycatsaPirate · 26/04/2017 11:33

Tinned ravioli on toast. But my god, it's lush.

socialanxietysrus · 26/04/2017 11:33

Panda Grin

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 26/04/2017 11:33

Pasta with chorizo and olive oil?

If I knew you in RL I would call Social Services. Don't MNHQ have a duty to disclose your address to prevent DC being treated so shamefully? I feel sorry for your DC.

Well really though, WTF? "Shameful and crappy" Hmm

MycatsaPirate · 26/04/2017 11:34

Reading back through this, this reads like a student's menu.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 26/04/2017 11:34

Don't have kids yet (although one is on the way) but in a fit of laziness for myself and DH I have served frozen nuggets with a jar of sweet and sour sauce poured over them, served on a bed of microwave rice Grin
