What's your most shameful crappy meal for the DC?

Sometimes I don't want to think about what to make for dinner, I make pasta with nothing but olive oil and a bit of salt on top and then I scatter chorizo on it.

The kids love it and think it's a treat. 'Grin

Today (I'm in Oz and it's night here) I made them that but served them with corn on the cob too as a side vegetable.

What are your crappy, easy go-to meals for kids?

Geez shockers swap the goujons for the breaded chicken fillets from Sainsbury's and that's a weekly meal in this household. We'll mix it up sometimes and turn the chicken into wraps serves with coleslaw and (Albert Bartlet) frozen chips, I add a BBQ seasoning to the chips while they're Actifrying so it doesn't look as baige on the plate. Grin

Tinned beans and sausages, with a few peas and/or sweetcorn chucked in if I remember!

Shockers · 28/04/2017 08:33

Ha, wanting, they are the breaded chicken fillets! It became synonymous with watching DVDs from two sofas pushed together like a bed, covered in duvets, cat and dog. It's our ultimate comfort meal. If ever they're fed up now, they still ask for 'junk tea'. Happy days Smile.

mammyoftwo · 28/04/2017 08:34

same as everyone else, beans on toast!

clarkl2 · 28/04/2017 09:22

Tinned beans and sausagea and toast with rice pudding for dessert. The boys love it!

AVY1 · 28/04/2017 10:27

Probably a fried egg sandwich.

Peanut butter and jam 'toastie' which also doubles as a bribe as I don't like to give her jam too often)

CatchIt · 28/04/2017 11:17

Hotdogs. Yup, those ones. Dd thinks it's a super treat!! Shock

Icapturethecast1e · 28/04/2017 12:48

Chocolate & crisp packet with fruit but only if I'm feeling really crappy. They luv it though!

philoSlothical17 · 28/04/2017 14:01

I was in a hurry one night so chopped up some hotdogs and put into a packet of microwave veg rice . Apologised to the kids ... They loved it and have asked for it since!

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 28/04/2017 15:02

this is all relative.
Shameful as in little preparation as CBA, in a rush etc.
Or shameful as in minimal nutritional value.

I used to have instant mash with grated cheese, grilled. Yum

CBA dinner is cheese fruit and crackers or ploughmans. Load of crap dinner is nachos salsa and cheese. Dry cereal is no worse than a pack of popcorn really. My kid's go to at the weekend when they get up starving and can't wait for porridge or eggs (at 10)

mygorgeousmilo · 28/04/2017 15:46

I've just remembered my favourite badness... forrin badness. Instant mash, noodles, cakes, crap, minimum effort studenty type stuff. But it's perhaps French, or Italian, or German.... somehow feels chic eating a French pot noodle! I always hit the supermarkets on the way back from road trips in order to satisfy my endless desire for 'exotic' junk food Grin

MusicToMyEars800 · 29/04/2017 09:58

Wantingchange Albert Bartlett frozen chips are the best, sometimes I will just have a plate of them with a big blob of mayo on on the side.

I used to have instant mash with grated cheese, grilled. Yum

Deejoda · 29/04/2017 19:20

I usually have a nice wholesome meal for dinner but my favourite quick/easy unhealthy brunches are sausages and baked beans or frozen chips and fried eggs. Cheese on toast too. Yummy!

Don't for 1 second see baked potatoes or pasta and pesto as shameful. Quick and convenient maybe but not rubbish!

user1491326393 · 29/04/2017 19:23

Is this a stealth boast?! Whats a non shameful meal then?! Christ alive!

My kids have the occasional McDonalds, dominos and kfc

Crappest weeknight tea, probably a smartprice pizza with some ham chucked on it

honeylulu · 29/04/2017 20:22

Biscuits. In my defence this was when both me and H had d&v!
Despite regularly being nagged for biscuits the children wailed "mummeee!!!! Cook something!!!"

flyingpinkduckgirl · 29/04/2017 22:09

Fish finger sandwiches for two days in a row!!
Ds is massively fussy and sometimes I just can't face a battle.
If it helps, I served carrot sticks and a large bowl of fresh fruit with them 😂

Deejoda · 29/04/2017 23:59

Confession: I have never eaten a fish finger🙈. Its just battered small pieces of fish isn't it? Can't be that bad...
