Bluntness I've seen some serious shockers - one house had a rubbish tip instead of a lounge room, the kitchen was beyond repulsively filthy with dirty, mouldy kitchenware everywhere and no clean surfaces, the bathroom had IIRC three kinds of mould growing and tiny mushroom-things growing between the shower and the sink unit, and one of the bedrooms was locked and they hadn't left the agent with a key (we had fun theorising what was kept in that room).
