To be utterly disgusted and depressed that women think its ok to make small penis gags?

Just been reading a thread further down where yes some scumbag bloke had been horrible to someone. Lots of outrage and tell him he has a small dick, tell him he has a micro penis basically mock the size of his genitals.

Can you imagine if a woman upset a bloke and all his mates said tell her she has awful labia, tell her her fanny is horrible, tell her she doesnt look normal down there
Its horrific!!

Do you know how many lovely men with smaller penises get inundated with this? Do you know how many teenage boys worry themselves to death because of comments like these?

Its depressing/sexist/cruel and plain nasty. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Thank you dixie..i didn't want to mention my son because i know it's not just my son.

I didnt think if i was angry about something i had to say for eg 'i am angry about something racist but before i say that i am also angry about poverty, abuse, famine, violence, disability cuts, genocide and roadworks'..thought it was allowed to be angry about one thing without assuming i am 'ok' about everything else unjust/unfair and depressing..geez

It's ok op, no ofcourse you don't Hmm
I'm so sorry for how your son is feeling!
Any body shaming is wrong, no buts Flowers

Handmaid and Handmaiden are misogynist insults. They are used to dismiss the voices of other women by making out that they are too stupid and or brainwashed to be able to form any meaningful views of their own.
Clap as i can't use that emoticon on here!

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 21:43

Essentially, (sorry to prolong this element of the discussion), hasn't 'handmaid' become a way of naming female misogynists? So, instead of just going for the gender neutral 'misogynist' there's an added layer of "you're a woman so you should know better than to spout this misogyny". Can it still be a misogynistic term, simply because it's sex-specific?

fascicle · 23/04/2017 21:46

Merchant
Your take on the handmaiden controversy is perfectly valid of course. You're not the only one who's read the book though! And sometimes words and phrases gain/shed layers of meaning when they emerge from literature...

It's dubious whether anybody using 'handmaiden' as a derogatory term has bothered to read the book (or even the title).

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 21:47

Ok OP - you're allowed to be angry about one specific thing, but did you realise that your choice of language (the 'Can you imagine...') bit was sort of suggesting that women don't put up with similar? Can't you see that?

The war/famine stuff is irrelevant, because - well they're obviously irrelevant, but also you didn't imply a denial of them.

fascicle Really? It's a pretty mainstream book...

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 23/04/2017 21:49

No Merchant It might if you were referring to the Karen Straughns of this world but there were none of their ilk on here.

And even if someone is a misogynist why do you need another word for it?

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 21:50

Yes, itsmine we've also covered that. We know we need to be better squeaky clean at all times etc.

But, moving on, can you see the implications I referred to in the OP? Or can you not? It's not hard...

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 21:53

Well, you might want another word for it, what with language being a subtle beast and all. It carries the implication not of plain woman-hating but also a self-effacing collusion with male authority. It's certainly not a nice word... but do women still have to be all nice to each other, even in the face of misogyny?

I prefer small ones with my gynae issues. DH isn't anything to write home about, but even his 4/5 inches hurt Grin

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 22:00

Does it Dixie? The use of handmaiden makes you feel sick?? That's a bit weird given that you don't think it's even relevant. Your interpretation is also a bit literal.

It's odd that no one has bothered to argue against my actual point about OP's phrasing and the implications thereof
.. People still stuck on handmaiden. Bit odd.

No I don't see that.

I saw the opening post to mean imagine seeing a "Blokesnet" forum with as many members and as high a public profile as this one (and bear in mind this forum is , despite the swearing, respectable, respected, mainstream and influential not some 4Chan/Red Pill nightmare )egging a poster on in that way and what the reaction would be on here.

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 22:04

I guess I'm frustrated itsmine that you won't engage with my actual points.

Can you see the implications in OP or not?

Thank you, dear god, thank you Lass for actually engaging.

Ok. You disagree. I see what you're saying. I don't agree, because I read a definite note of disbelief in OP's hypothetical 'Can you imagine...' But you didn't.

Can you see that others might interpret it my way and be uncomfortable?

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 22:08

Ooh you got there, itsmine. Now, that wasn't hard either, was it?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 23/04/2017 22:09

Can you see the implications in OP or not

No and I have explained what I saw in it. I think your analysis is tortured.

MerchantofVenice · 23/04/2017 22:09

I do see why some people struggle with feminism now. Some folk can't decode stuff very well. If someone's not screaming "I hate women", they're not sexist...
