To be utterly disgusted and depressed that women think its ok to make small penis gags?

Just been reading a thread further down where yes some scumbag bloke had been horrible to someone. Lots of outrage and tell him he has a small dick, tell him he has a micro penis basically mock the size of his genitals.

Can you imagine if a woman upset a bloke and all his mates said tell her she has awful labia, tell her her fanny is horrible, tell her she doesnt look normal down there
Its horrific!!

Do you know how many lovely men with smaller penises get inundated with this? Do you know how many teenage boys worry themselves to death because of comments like these?

Its depressing/sexist/cruel and plain nasty. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

It is generally immature to resort to insulting someone's appearance when in fact they can't help it because it's down to genetical inheritance.

wonderingwhatisnormal · 22/04/2017 18:36

Charming insults based on women's appearances:

I've heard "roast beef fanny", "beef curtains", "butterface", "body off bay watch, face off crimewatch", "fat" said myriad different ways, "bucket fanny", "fried egg tits", "tits like spaniels ears".

I could go on.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 22/04/2017 18:36

YANBU. It makes me worry for my son, who has hypospadias

WorraLiberty · 22/04/2017 18:36

Actually it's the same with 'bald head' insults.

Cheap, lazy and not very intelligent.

Wedrine4me · 22/04/2017 18:37

The equivalent would be fanny like a bucket.

No it's not because most women would know that isn't true and it's not going to upset other women.

The penis insults aren't going to upset men who know they are ok in size even if the insult is directed at them. They will however affect those who just read or hear the gags if they aren't blessed that department.

WorraLiberty · 22/04/2017 18:38

You could indeed go on wondering but why?

The OP's point is that it's horrible to make derogatory remarks about anyone's genitals, but that on MN it's often positively encouraged as long as it's about men.

She's not saying no-one ever insults women.

wonderingwhatisnormal · 22/04/2017 18:38

No it's not because most women would know that isn't true and it's not going to upset other women.

In that case the equivalent is "jokes" about labia.

Foldedtshirt · 22/04/2017 18:40

I hate penis jokes and agree that it's double standards to tolerate them.
But come on! Seriously do you not see that the world is rife with men belittling women in exactly the same way it's not like we're the sex who aren't subject to 99% of the objectification that goes on.

TizzyDongue · 22/04/2017 18:40

Its weird because, unlike the vast majority of the Internet MN is female heavy.

Take a look at the world outside of MN where it's less female centric and any derogatory comments, if they occur, towards men and their genitals aren't found OK.

Male heavy sites are abundant with derogatory comments about women that are found ok. Derogatory comments about men are shouted down or pulled up are vindictive and pathetic.

Doesn't make any of it ok - but no need to pretend degrogtory comments by men about women don't exist and aren't accepted.

usernumbernine · 22/04/2017 18:41

BertrandRussell that's a daft argument. I'm very proud of my big boobs (I am, I love them, it's the only side effect of being fat and old that I like and I wear big over the shoulder boulder holders to hoike them up to maximum effect) but that doesn't mean it's ok for anyone to insult another woman by directing insults at her big boobs.

BertrandRussell · 22/04/2017 18:41

"Or it could be because the woman doing the insulting are lazy/possibly not intelligent enough to think of a better insult."

Agreed. But do you really think that there is anything like the same level of "small dick" comments as there are the huge and wide ranging comments and insults about women's bodies? Do men who make public statements automatically get comments on their bodies, sexual insults and rape threats?

Wedrine4me · 22/04/2017 18:43

So if we don't like the body shaming of women why on earth would we do it to men?

HallowedMimic · 22/04/2017 18:44

Yes, so all name calling is a bad thing. True.

But as we must apply generalisations, men can hardly get precious about people casting aspersions on the size of their genitals given the generations of insults used to denegrate women.

Perhaps the OP's friend has never uttered the phrase 'fat cunt' or similar in his life. Or called a guy a dick head, or wet cunt.

But he probably has used or heard some similar phrase in anger, it's just when it's something personal to him, it hits home.

ShatnersWig · 22/04/2017 18:46

YANBU. I'm a man with a female best friend who I've known for years and years. We walked into a pub once and she said "that's an ex of mine, the man with the smallest dick in the world" and I was quite taken aback as I'd never heard her say anything like it before and a bit later when other friends had joined us said "I actually said to him 'is it actually in there?'"

I would never, ever have said about an ex girlfriend of mine, to a male or female friend any comment about the size of her fanjo (to use MN jargon) or her boobs or sexual performance. Have to say, it made me think less of my best friend.

PoorYorick · 22/04/2017 18:47

The equivalent for women isn't labia size, it's overall size. It's a very common female experience to reject or anger a man, only to be told how fat and ugly she is in general. Women are judged on their overall appearance far more than men ever are on their general looks or penis size.

I'm not saying you're wrong, you're not at all. But there is an equivalent for women and it's really much, much more prevalent than small dick gags. Most people who deride the size of a man's penis wouldn't know if it was true anyway.

pallasathena · 22/04/2017 18:50

I remember reading about Lucy Worsley of Historic Palaces fame who was body shamed by an ignorant twitter tosser a couple of years ago. She sent him a picture of a fluffy kitten.
I thought that was genius.

WorraLiberty · 22/04/2017 18:50

People are really trying to justify 'tit for tat' here? Confused

It's a shit thing to insult anyone's genitals and says far more about the person doing it.

It's like hearing, "Buuuut waaaahh he started it!" Confused

People just simply desist.

Still, it's refreshing to get this far into a thread without reading the words 'poor menz' - often posted by the hard of thinking Grin

WorraLiberty · 22/04/2017 18:51

People 'should' simply desist.

MercyMyJewels · 22/04/2017 18:51

Oh the poor dears. Fair few handmaidens on this thread. How about fighting for women who are abused all the time rather than for men who seemingly wouldn't be able to cope with charges of mini dick.

I am astonished on a daily basis at how horrible people are to each other. That people are vile about each other's genitals comes as no surprise at all. There is nothing that is off limits it seems. I am glad I was born when I was and have seen times when people were decent to each other and that I will die when I will die.

If said bloke is a scumbag I couldn't care less if he gets accused of having a small winkle. It might be a bit immature but horrific?! Disgusted by it?! Come on! Predictable throwaway comments since micro penises aren't exactly desirable are they?

HermioneJeanGranger · 22/04/2017 18:55

Fair few handmaidens on this thread.

Hmm
