To think that some left-wing supporters are just so NASTY

cathf · 22/04/2017 14:22

This is based on posts I have read on here and a couple of very vocal left-wing friends I have on facebook.
I have truly never read a Conservative supporter personally attacking Labour in the same way.
I find it astonishing and if I am honest, a bit childish.
Recent examples include a website pulling Teresa May's living room apart and costing out every single thing in it, to a chorus of comments along the lines of how can she sleep at night when children are hungry and she has a £25 candle.
Every time the subject is raised on here, there is a long thread of hysterical comments about how nasty the Tories are. Yes, Tory supporters state their case and answer back, but they seem to be able to do it in a more restrained, mature manner than outraged Labour screamers.
There seems to be a lot of personal bile aimed at Teresa May, which I am at a loss to understand - just what has she done that is so terrible?
She is pushing through Brexit, but that was what the country voted for. Is she supposed to go against the country's wishes?
All of Labour's policies look very lovely, but none have any substance at all. My friend recently stated on Facebook she was supporting Jeremy Corbyn because he wanted peace not war. And? How is he going to implement that then? It reminds me of the 1980s T-shirts stating War is Stupid. Lots of nice words, but to implementation strategies.
It amazes me that supposedly intelligent people seem to be so brainwashed by this nonsense and think that flinging mud is an appopriate way to behave.
Is it just me?

Excuse me, what about the Tory MP mouthing 'what a bitch' at Yvette Cooper in the house the other day?

And how very very cruel the largely right wing press can be about people like Cherie Blair and Gordon Brown?

But you are correct in that nasty personal attacks should be kept out of political debate. I really don't think lefties are worse though!

HorridHenryrule · 22/04/2017 20:02

Corbyn does nothing for me he has no passion and I don't think he would make a good leader. I am not going to go against my belief and vote Tory. If some of you on here no people who talk shit to you then it's your problem if you listen to Joe down the road. I listen to the politicians not Joe public.

Never watched the House of Commons coverage on BBC OP? Hmm

DJBaggySmalls · 22/04/2017 20:09

'What a bitch'.
From the party that thinks its ok to make a women disclose rape, and slashed benefits to the disabled. Sure OP, whatever.

BishopBrennansArse · 22/04/2017 20:09

Um.... did you see my post about why I vote as I do live?

Majorgoodwinschickenbeatstrump · 22/04/2017 20:12

I'm left wing but I know what you mean. There are also obviously some right wing nobheads too. I think both extreme ends of the scales bring out the worst in people.

CopperRose · 22/04/2017 20:14

Excuse me, what about the Tory MP mouthing 'what a bitch' at Yvette Cooper in the house the other day?

He didn't shortsaint, he said "leadership pitch".

But don't let false representation get in the way of a good Tory-rant...

HelenaDove · 22/04/2017 20:15

The poster who used the over privileged cunts term on the other thread was me.

I will fill in what the manipulative PP didnt mention. It was in response to posts slagging off carers.

I pointed out that low income workers cant win. I used care WORKERS as an example. If they claim tax credits due to their low pay they get called scroungers. But if care workers actually got paid what they were worth the care home fees would increase so the same wealthy families moaning about ppl getting tax credits would then be moaning about paying higher fees for their relatives care.

Natsku · 22/04/2017 20:22

Sure some left wingers might be more verbally insulting but that's just words, its the right wingers that are literally killing people by cutting off benefits for ridiculous reasons, I'd say that's a lot more nasty than calling someone a selfish cunt or whatever for voting for the Party that doesn't care.

user1491678180 · 22/04/2017 20:25

And therein lies the problem with the left. If something is true but inconvenient to them they label it and the speaker offensive. Which carries the threat of Twitter mobs and forum bans so people become scared of stating facts. Which of course is the intention because if you can't change inconvenient truths then you must try and suppress them.

Thanks Bill Sykes dog. Put very well. Smile And thanks for posting those stats and facts about so-called refugees.

I was going to put something similar, but couldn't be arsed to get into a forum war with a certain few posters who are (as usual) spoiling for a fight, and point black REFUSE to back down and admit they're wrong, labelling anyone who says something they don't like as 'nasty,' 'bigoted,' and 'vitriolic.'

As someone said earlier, this is why the Tories won the last election, when all the polls said LABOUR were going to win it; because people who are a bit right of centre and who think the Tories are OK are too scared to say so, because they know they will be slaughtered by the left wing lynch mobs.

On one of those late night Ch4 shows ('8 out of 10 cats' I think,) some time ago, someone DARED to admit they think Theresa May seems OK, and she was ridiculed and slated and mocked by the leftie 'comedians' on there. It was not nice, but I was not shocked that they did it. This is what the lefties on these shows do. The Last Leg is guilty of it too. Funny show with funny men on it, but painfully left wing.

As I said, not ALL lefties are nasty and mocking and spiteful, but there are more spiteful and mocking lefties than spiteful and mocking right wing people.

And as for saying calling someone leftie is an insult; what a ludicrous thing to say. It's merely a word to describe someone with left wing views. Grow up.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/04/2017 20:26

I saw that thread helena is referring to

Apparently carers dont need to be paid as they are doing it anyway

shortsaint · 22/04/2017 20:26

Copperrose

Allegedly. Didn't look like it to me.

BishopBrennansArse · 22/04/2017 20:29

That's right Rufus, of course! They don't need to eat, do they?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 22/04/2017 20:33

Oh wow User, I really don't need to grow up.

And if someone called me a leftie to my face , I'd be sure it wasn't a compliment. Many things are not merely 'words'

You have just hijacked this thread to be sneering and aggressive. And to use capital letters.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/04/2017 20:34

Not at all apparently bishop

I have no idea what that person voted, i have voted tory many times

But i will absolutely agree with helena that they were a cunt

Dannythechampion · 22/04/2017 20:34

Oooh CAPITALISING things is the sign of something, can't say what it is though.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/04/2017 20:35

Well, still are one would imagine

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 22/04/2017 20:36

Ok Bill - user just got personal by telling me to grow up

There we are OP , nastiness on all sides. To answer your query.

HelenaDove · 22/04/2017 20:36

Exactly The PP could have quite easily copied and pasted my post from the other thread over.

But she didnt did she? Because then it would have been seen in its whole context.

HelenaDove · 22/04/2017 20:38

My above post is in response to Rufus at 20.26

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 22/04/2017 20:41

Thought it was helena Smile

No they wouldnt like to give context....thats not how the game is played

You know ...like not telling lies or distorting the truth

LadyGlitterSparklesSeriously · 22/04/2017 20:44

I've been called a libtard, a cunt, a leftist 'mong', fat leftist feminazi, a snowflake. I've been told I'm too soft and stupid to understand basic economics, that I'm a traitor to my country for believing immigration isn't the worst thing to happen to our country.

People hurl insults. It's nothing new. But it's certainly not just the left hurling them.

FamilySpartan · 22/04/2017 20:56

YADNBU.

Dannythechampion · 22/04/2017 20:57

I've always found those that accuse others of not understanding basic economics don't actually themselves.

If you'd like a real discussion on the Conservatives, economics and the myth of their running the economy well, please ask.

BillSykesDog · 22/04/2017 21:00

I agree beans not ideal but pretty mild and not explicitly addressed to you. Unlike Lou who has been directly personal to a number of posters in a very nasty way.

Incidentally this is something I have seen left wing posters do repeatedly on threads. Get very personal and nasty to try and goad right wing posters into retaliating so they can report it.

I had this done once by a poster who actually completely made up things that I'd apparently said earlier in the thread. I challenged them to post quotes of where I'd said these things and because I hadn't they refused using nastier and nastier insults to justify themselves. Eventually I outright said they were a liar (which was true) and of course she reported it (despite knowing it was true) and I got a 3 day ban, although she was banned too. But it was always her intention.

Incidentally I'm fairly certain the same poster is on this thread under a NC.
