Found my dream dress today...it's over my budget by £800 but I'm not sure if my budget was U to start with as I seemed underestimate how much they cost!
How much was your dress?

£700. The shop did alterations for free but they were crap, so we took it to an independent seamstress for further alterations, and that ended up costing another £150. I also had a lace bolero made but I don't know what that cost as my DM paid as a present.

icelollycraving · 01/04/2017 14:37

£1100 and £200 alterations I think. I budgeted £300! I was thinking a fairly simple dress from Monsoon as we got married abroad. I had a meringue!

HelenaGWells · 01/04/2017 14:38

About £800 if I recall correctly. I think it was about £1500 for my dress, 3 bridesmaids dresses with wraps and a flower girl dress. That was including alterations and loan of a big hoop skirt thing. I didn't do veils or tiaras.

It was one of the cheaper dresses in the wedding shop though. Most were over £1k and this was 14 years ago. A lot of the sub £500 dresses are from places like BHS, Debenhams etc. Most things in the wedding shop were £500+

fannydaggerz · 01/04/2017 14:39

£1350 for dress, £350 for veil, £150 for shoes and £250 for alterations.

fannydaggerz · 01/04/2017 14:40

My underskirt was £140

BrownAjah · 01/04/2017 14:41

£3K. It's super sparkly! My Nan insisted on buying it for me, which was lovely

Wreckingball25 · 01/04/2017 14:42

£1,400 plus alterations tbc as I bought my dress six weeks postpartum in January so should be a bit smaller by July! Treated myself to some nice shoes in the jimmy choo sale that aren't white and can be worn again.

CosyCoupe88 · 01/04/2017 14:42

£500 plus 70 alternations. Loved it

kikisparks · 01/04/2017 14:42

£495 ex sample- would have been £1600 new.

Gwilt160981 · 01/04/2017 14:43

About £475 and good job we took it after purchasing because wedding dress shop got burnt down weeks later.

madmare77 · 01/04/2017 14:46

£1260 in 2003
It was the most expensive in the shop and after I'd stupidly tried it on nothing compared!

poisonedbypen · 01/04/2017 14:47

£300 hand made by a friend of my mum's who was a dressmaker. It was beautiful & made from silk jacquard and would have cost a fortune to buy in a bridal shop. I told her what i wanted and she designed it. It was 25 years ago though Grin

champagneplanet · 01/04/2017 14:49

Approx £1100 5 years ago, DM paid. That was just dress alterations. Bought my veil and hoop on eBay, much cheaper!

jkelly17 · 01/04/2017 14:50

£450 with about £70 alterations. still have it now, vacuumed packed away in a bag, can't bear to part with it because it was so much money to me, but in the grand scheme of things in this thread it's really not that much money at all 🤔

Becca8675309 · 01/04/2017 14:52

£10K. In 2009. Plus alterations. Plus special underwear :) Was by Monique Lhuillier and was needed in 48 hours for a Vegas wedding. Brown's Bridal in London were v. helpful :)

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 01/04/2017 14:52

£70

hazeyjane · 01/04/2017 14:53

TiredMumToTwo · 01/04/2017 14:55

£1,000 in 2002, I thought the cost seemed quite standard at the time but seems expensive now!!

Marmitelover55 · 01/04/2017 14:55

£1,400 in 1999. Loved it Smile

BettyOBarley · 01/04/2017 14:56

1k which I thought was about average for a dress from a bridal shop.

I must admit that only after the event did I think blimey I've just paid 1k for something that'll never be used again...

pointythings · 01/04/2017 14:56

About £500 - but that was 19 years ago and it was half price in the sale. It was a very gorgeous and very expensive dress, 100% silk, fitted sleeveless bodice with a bit of beading, full flowy skirt, long-sleeved waisted riding jacket over it. Very period. i still have it, DD1 wants to get married in it. Fortunately we are both very tall.

Scrubba · 01/04/2017 14:58

£375 in 2004. Ex-sample and was less than half price if I remember.

FlyingDuck · 01/04/2017 15:02

A tenner on a sewing pattern. About £30 on fabric. A couple of evenings of swearing!

KC225 · 01/04/2017 15:03

160 second hand dress. 400 beautiful shoes new. 11 years ago
