Ok this is meant to be a lighthearted from the start in no way am I belittling what is happening, but if I was Theresa May I would be getting pissed off with her bothering me every five minutes, meetings, letters etc. Yes we are all aware that when Scotland voted they did not know we were going to be voting out of the EU and yes they probably should have another vote on it when and I mean when the details have been finalised so you can make an informed decision, yes thats sensible. But she's like a dog with a bone, going on and on and on. Theresa May like her or loathe her has a very difficult job to do, nobody else has really put their head above the parapet to sort it and she needs time to get on with it. So sorry Nicola stop going all Braveheart on her ass and do one ffs you're not helping or is that the intention. If so here's a restraining order.

You had the vote, lost it. FFS move on

That's like saying that because the Tories won the last UK election, Labour, Lib Dems at all should just dissolve their parties and never stand again.

I find it quite disturbing the number of people who think democracy should be set aside, because people aren't choosing to vote the same way they are.

I personally think they would be wise to wait until further down the line when they'll have more information to make a more informed decision

That's what Sturgeon has asked for...

You know what? I dont find it that funny or light hearted when people suggest shutting people up because they have a different political opinion from them.

Often, "I was only joking" is used to test an unpalatable idea. It gathers those that think it's actually fine and pushes boundaries of what's acceptable whilst those that do find it unpalatable are rebuffed as not being able to take a joke.

There's so many attacks on democracy at the moment that actually no, this isn't light hearted. YABU.

A referendum is a "once" decision though isn't it? Not like voting for an MP every 4 years.

Wales voted to leave. NI voted to stay.
This is the way forward.

I would be interested in what the individual countries break down of vote was, if anyone can point me to a source.

Why? Surely if a government is elected, with a referendum in the manifesto, it would be undemocratic not to have the referendum.

quite right Lulu and you can have Tory governments for the rest of your life too

On balance I'd possibly vote no.

But when i read all the patronising Scots bigotry on here from sanctimonious right wing twats i genuinely lean towards a vote for independence

I agree I may be a bit unreasonable but I'm sure TM has heard it loud and clear many times what Scotland wants and you may still get, but she has to think of the interests of the whole of the United Kingdom and be given the time to do it, she said 'not now'.

Michael Portillo told Alastair Campbell last night the more he and TB Remoan the more they strengthen TM's position. I suspect NS is having the same effect, even in Scotland. More power to her elbow I say.

I do hear exactly what you are saying LouKout - you would think some people on MN would have worked out by now that some Scots think like Ruth and 2 million voted No last time round (only 1.6 m voted to Remain) - differential turnout cos no-one really cares either way about the EU in Scotland.

And how does voting for independence make being out of the EU any better? Out of the EU AND the UK? Yeah that sounds even better 🙄

@LouKout - exactly...enlightening to see how Scotland viewed...irksome rebellious lot, why don't they just go back in their boxes, those bloody jocks, eh?

Not every Scot wants Independence ! Sturgeon and co. should get on with the day job- our economy is dire, education standards are slipping and don't start me on Health and the Police. The SG has not passed ANY legislation in over a year and are obsessed with headline grabbing issues such as " free " baby boxes .

TM I'm sure will be incredibly pissed off

But she is too shrewd to show this. It might backfire on NS as many are saying it's not the right time

But I admire her tenacity
