To suggest you all do not watch 'All round to Mrs Brown'

I have lost count of the number of times I have seen the trailer for this, with a pixillation to cover up a swear word.

Even if you excuse the unnecessary amount of foul language, this is at best an extension of a very bad 70s sitcom with a gay character added in. If this is all the BBC can put out on a Saturday evening they have lost the plot in a way.

The worst thing of all is that previous series have attracted a large viewing audience. Go down the pub, watch another channel, play a video game or do something else. Poor viewing figures will mean it will not get a second series and the sitcom may be cancelled.

I hate Mrs browns boys. Detest it. But I'm so putting it on tonight now and leaving it playing to itself while I read.

AYankinSpanx · 25/03/2017 16:32

Comedy snobs are boring

Is a 'comedy snob' someone who thinks the programme you like is completely shit?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/03/2017 16:38

Nah a comedy snob is someone who thinks that only certain types of comedy are acceptable - most of the ones I know seem to like soaps etc though so they aren't exactly in a position to judge Grin

TheNaze73 · 25/03/2017 16:44

It is desperately unfunny

ImFuckingSpartacus · 25/03/2017 16:46

Comedy snobs are boring

Are we not allowed to not like it? Confused

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/03/2017 16:47

Not liking something is fine

Looking down on people for liking something is comedy snobberu

frankie001 · 25/03/2017 16:47

I hate Mrs Browns Boys. Not because of the swearing, I just think it's shit.

specialsubject · 25/03/2017 16:48

I won't be watching it because even five seconds of a trailer puts me off. Same as Miranda.

Boring unfunny drivel in my opinion. Others disagree, which is why we get a choice.

tinyterrors · 25/03/2017 16:48

Thanks op, I had no idea this was on. I very rarely watch anything on the BBC so would have missed it.

I don't know how anyone can find Eastenders, Coronation Street and all the other crappy soaps entertaining but that doesn't mean I'm going to tell people not to watch them.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/03/2017 16:51

Not my cup of tea, but each to their own and all that!

squoosh · 25/03/2017 16:51

'But, and it's a big but, Mrs Brown discusses issues that are taboo in Ireland'

I'm on tenterhooks here!

Curlers?
Leaving the back door open so the next door neighbour keeps wandering in?

ImFuckingSpartacus · 25/03/2017 16:53

I think the "taboo in Ireland" comment may have mixed up Ireland with the 1950's.

grumpygiraffe · 25/03/2017 16:56

YABVU to complain about the foul language.

Foul language is entirely appropriate in certain circumstances, such as the following sentence. Mrs Brown's Boys is fucking abysmal and anybody who enjoys it is thick as pig shit.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 25/03/2017 16:58

Ahhhh feck off, watch what you like & let others do the same.

ZilphasHatpin · 25/03/2017 17:12

I think the "taboo in Ireland" comment may have mixed up Ireland with the 1950's.

I laughed at that too. Clearly someone who has never been. I often wonder what kind of caricature of Ireland people have in their heads.

coldcanary · 25/03/2017 17:12

It took a while to grow on me but I'll definitely watch it tonight, the clip on comic relief was great Grin the line 'I have all your album' to that singer really tickled me!
I understand the comedy snob comment, it's not liking or disliking a certain comedian, it's the sneering and looking down on what a person finds funny that's so irritating.

EdmundCleverClogs · 25/03/2017 17:15

Mrs Brown's Boys is fucking abysmal and anybody who enjoys it is thick as pig shit.

Interesting statement, grumpygiraffe. I have a tested IQ of 140, well educated, I sometimes even listen to Radio 4 smug. First time in my life I have been considered 'thick as pig shit', purely based on a mostly inoffensive comedy that gives me a giggle.

Since you're obviously an expert on 'intelligent programming', what should I be watching for entertainment?

LuxCoDespondent · 25/03/2017 17:15

Mrs Brown's Boys is the proof that sometimes you don't need to watch a programme in order to know that it is a piece of shit. It's also proof that the popularity of a programme is not necessarily in proportion to its quality.

It's a piece-of-shit programme which indicates how low an audience can sink, nothing more.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/03/2017 17:18

And a PP mentioned Miranda - I would rather stick pins in my eyes than watch her but I'm not so far up my own arse that i think it's okay to judge those who do like.

kel1493 · 25/03/2017 17:19

I love Mrs browns boys, I will be watching all round to Mrs Browns, and dh and I are going to watch the live show for our 2nd wedding anniversary next month.
If it's not to your taste don't watch it, but you are bu to say other people shouldn't watch it

WorraLiberty · 25/03/2017 17:20

Is a 'comedy snob' someone who thinks the programme you like is completely shit?

No, a comedy snob is someone who insults others, or states they're a 'bit disappointed' in those who like that particular comedy.

Of which there are a few on this thread.

Perhaps their minds are so tightly closed, there's no oxygen getting to their brains.

NerrSnerr · 25/03/2017 17:21

'It's a piece-of-shit programme which indicates how low an audience can sink, nothing more.'

Good example of being a comedy snob. Mrs Brown is not my thing but I don't judge those who watch it. I love lots of stuff others don't, Friends, Ab Fab, Dinnerladies etc. Life would be dull as shit if we all liked the same.

tinglyfing · 25/03/2017 17:22

I hate Mrs Brown's Boys. It's shit. Don't find it funny at all. That's why I won't be watching it.

Not because you told me not to watch it op.

Fuck that.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 25/03/2017 17:23

Well I wasn't particularly bothered about watching it but now I definitely will...or is this thread some sort of reverse psychology to make us all watch it out of spite?
