To suggest you all do not watch 'All round to Mrs Brown'

I have lost count of the number of times I have seen the trailer for this, with a pixillation to cover up a swear word.

Even if you excuse the unnecessary amount of foul language, this is at best an extension of a very bad 70s sitcom with a gay character added in. If this is all the BBC can put out on a Saturday evening they have lost the plot in a way.

The worst thing of all is that previous series have attracted a large viewing audience. Go down the pub, watch another channel, play a video game or do something else. Poor viewing figures will mean it will not get a second series and the sitcom may be cancelled.

I won't be watching. Nothing to do with the language, it just isn't funny, very 1960s humour.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 25/03/2017 14:37

I can't stand the programme myself but you are completely unreasonable to tell people what they should be watching.

If you don't like it don't watch it.

Magpie18 · 25/03/2017 14:38

There's very little "comedy" on tv that makes me laugh but Mrs Brown & Co. have me crying laughing every time! Mind you she's so like my old mam........

Give over OP, wouldn't do for us all to be the same

RiversrunWoodville · 25/03/2017 14:39

Ooh thanks for letting me know it's on I hadn't realised I love Mrs Brown going to see it live in December so yes YABU

Elendon · 25/03/2017 14:39

I used to hate this programme. Man in a dress posing as a woman of a certain age. Way too much like Les Dawson for me.

But, and it's a big but, Mrs Brown discusses issues that are taboo in Ireland just wish he'd do it with abortion

And sometimes it is funny. I can't really stand all the feckin but nothing is perfect is it?

It's nothing on Father Ted though.

Elendon · 25/03/2017 14:45

For all Father Ted fans

Groovee · 25/03/2017 14:47

Why would I go down the pub? If I want to watch Mrs Brown I will!

Foureyesarebetterthantwo · 25/03/2017 14:49

I can't even believe that people are putting Father Ted and Mrs Brown's Boys in the same sentence!

25bottles · 25/03/2017 14:49

I liked the first series, when she didn't know her son was gay and was completely oblivious to the obvious.
When he came out the awkward comedic tension wore off and it stopped being funny.

shirleycartersaidso · 25/03/2017 14:57

I love Mrs brown and will be watching it - I can't wait to see how the Pamela Anderson bit goes.

Thanks for your concern but I think I'll be able to cope with the swearing op.

NotTheFordType · 25/03/2017 15:00

Thanks for letting me know it's on. I must find the TV remote for tonight. Hasn't been used since Xmas!

LorLorr2 · 25/03/2017 15:01

It's deffo not everyone's cup of tea, I don't personally watch Mrs Brown but it seems so popular!!

1horatio · 25/03/2017 15:08

I have no idea what you're talking about... I think people should watch whatever they want? (well, withing reason)

I wouldn't be particularly upset with the swearing.

Who cares? I like Hannibal (although I'm very much behind...). Anyhow, some people may object to the amount of gore and cannibalism. Doesn't mean I shouldn't watch it, does it? It calms me.

I don't get this thread....

KurriKurri · 25/03/2017 15:11

Mrs Brown is not my cup of tea at all - I don;t find it funny.
However my 95 yr old Mother, (who is in a care home and has had a severe stroke, and can do little else apart from watch TV) loves it and thinks it is hilarious. So for that reason I wouldn't want it cancelled.

There's lots of things I don't like on TV and lots I do like that others probably don't. I have no desire to take away things that give other people pleasure just because they aren't my thing.
(I mean how niche is Only Connect ? - I bloody love it though)

QueenFuri · 25/03/2017 15:13

You've just reminded me to set a reminder for this! I like Mrs Brown and YABVU to suggest other people don't watch just because you don't like something.

EggysMom · 25/03/2017 15:15

I'd rather watch Mrs Brown than Ant-n-Dec ....

blankmind · 25/03/2017 15:16

What really makes me laugh about the show is all the ad-libbing that goes on.Some of the cast look literally terrified of what he's going to do or say next

That's what I enjoy too, such quick-witted humour alongside a script that you can see is just background notes to Brendan's improvisation, often to the delight of the cast and crew as well as the audience.

KC225 · 25/03/2017 15:18

I find it a bit old fashioned but my 83 year old mum loves it. So much so I had a personalised Mrs Brown birthday made by funky pigeon.

ImFuckingSpartacus · 25/03/2017 15:19

I loathe this programme and am always a little disappointed to find that otherwise nice people enjoy, but its a free country and they can watch whatever they like.

I'm bemused at its popularity though. It's straight out of the 70's, is it meant to be ironic?

ImFuckingSpartacus · 25/03/2017 15:20

But, and it's a big but, Mrs Brown discusses issues that are taboo in Ireland

Like what?

ZilphasHatpin · 25/03/2017 15:22

I love Mrs brown. Thanks for reminding me it's on OP.

1horatio · 25/03/2017 15:23

Right, googled it.

Even if you excuse the unnecessary amount of foul language, this is at best an extension of a very bad 70s sitcom with a gay character added in.

Unnecessary amount of foul language... So? Christmas is "unnecessary"... Birthdays are. Haircuts, watching tv, pudding... All "unnecessary"... Doesn't mean we shouldn't participate. I imagine it's part of the show's charm.

As for the extension... Well, I imagine the people that like it are happy about the extension.

Do you object to the gay character or what? I mean, let them add their gay character and extend it. If people didn't like it they wouldn't extend it, right?

It seems a bit conceited, OP. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others can't...

Alfieisnoisy · 25/03/2017 16:14

Strongly suspect the OP is Mrs Brown GrinGrinGrinGrin

Then again viewing figures suggest she wouldn't need to resort to such a stunt

honeyrider · 25/03/2017 16:25

Comedy snobs are boring

To suggest you all do not watch 'All round to Mrs Brown'
