We are being led down the path by TM who is now propsing to simply adopt every EU regulation, statute and Law wholesale.

We are beset by EU allergies directives, EU waste directives, EU working time directives, EU this EU that EeU fisheres directives...... We were told we can be a sovereign country if we leave the EU.

We were not told we will have to adopt every EU law wholesale.. We don't have to adopt them. We can and should create laws that meet our needs not paper pushers in Brussels.

I wasn't aware that we weren't a sovereign nation.

I'm pretty sure we have a queen.

Or does the OP mean she wants the queen to head parliament?

Bloody EU "allergies" directive! British companies should be able to leave ingredients out of the list on the packaging, goddamnit! We the British people deserve the right to not know everything that is in what we are eating!

DOWN WITH EU - UP WITH KNOWING LESS THINGS

DOWN WITH EU - UP WITH COMPANIES BEING ALLOWED TO KEEP THINGS SECRET

UK nationals are queuing up to get those jobs but pesky forriners keep stealing them.

Lweji, that's because there's an EU directive that says you have to give first dibs to a non-UK citizen. EU first choice, Commonwealth second choice, entire rest of the world third choice. UK citizens can have what's left. I saw it myself in... now where was that again? I'm sure it was somewhere...

It always was.

While, unless you want to become North Korea, you still have to comply with many international trade rules.

I suspect that the OP doesn't have any sense of just how many EU regulations are currently incorporated into UK law and how long it would take to go through every single one to review it and decide which ones to keep or amend (hint: a lot longer than two years).

But I am curious to know who she thinks should be doing that job if she's ruling out "paper pushers".

Is that Farage, the seven times failed Parliamentary candidate and Member of the European Parliament, drawing a handsome salary and expenses allowance from the very organisation whose existence is anathema to him and where he has made the UK a laughing stock by his ill-informed bile future UK Ambassador to the USA and ideal Prime Minister, according to his great chum, President Trump?

Ask Farage

I'm pretty sure Boris Johnson confirmed it, and he's a powerful politician, he would NEVER lie to us.

Oh for goodness sake. I typed out a long reply, but quite frankly I'm sick to death of having this conversation.

Please try to understand:
EU = biggest trading partner to UK
UK therefore needs it's exports to comply with EU standards
UK therefore in leaving the EU has not 'taken back control' - we will just no longer have a say in the things we need to comply with in order to export and you know, have people employed here, earning money to buy food and whatnot.

This was pointed out but was dubbed 'project fear' and everyone blindly desperate to leave lapped it up.

Also the EU isn't some separate entity that is telling us what to do - we are IN the EU. Any laws have been voted for by our government. Things like general food law which requires to food to be safe to be eat...

Harsh judgement on Farage Gasp. David Duke (ex leader of the Klu Klux Klan) is very complimentary about Farage's political prowess Smile

Gosh yes, what am I thinking, Poundland! I am, after all, only a woman, and a Scot to boot. I will soon be an expat myself and in receipt of one of those awful letters from the Home Office telling me to prepare to leave, in spite of living in England for nearly 40 years and being married to an Englishman.

I'm amazed that nobody has yet said 'The people have spoken. If you don't lt, tough' (or some variation of this sentiment) yet.
I don't get this argument that the 48% are just supposed to shut up about Brexit. Nobody says that people can't protest about what a government is doing until the next election comes round and, at least with elections, people can vote the government out in 5 years.

We can protest

And the fault is actually with MP's not having to backbone to stand up to May

Of course she is going to use the line the people have voted it was a referendum with a very clear question asked she has to take that on board how she does it is a different matter and there is no real opposition to her so she can slap them down with that line again and again and it's working

That does not stop MP's standing up against her that what is needed an opposition

It's time we put pressure on MP's to actually oppose her

Actually, I think RaggedRachel may be right in a way.

I think the OP is actually trying to bully leavers by parodying the "thick leaver".

I cannot believe there are many people, whether leavers or remainers, who really think we would be able to repeal all laws based on EU guidelines and regulations immediately.

However, the responses to the OP are just that - responses to the OP, and not to leavers in general. So, ironically, apart from the OP, I can't see that this thread contains bullying of leavers.
