Well that's an interesting interpretation of my comment babycham - there's a whole range of risks from having sex with complete strangers you know nothing about & I personally have no hang up about people doing so provided they know & understand the risks of doing so. Its got nothing to do with being puritanical about someone else's chosen sexual exploits.
Given this particular man's reaction when told he's had sex with a 12 yr old, I'm guessing he didn't factor that risk into his decision to have sex with someone he just met & didn't know anything about. He can have as many 1 night stands as he likes as long as he's capable of making sound judgment on who he chooses to take home for sex. He's responsible for that decision, not a 12 yr old.
If I'm puritanical because I find the idea of an adult man having sex with a 12 yr old unacceptable irrespective of how that happened, I'll take that label.
All the comments about 'doing it by the book' or 'he was sure' are actually underlining the fact that, by definition, a 1 night stand is an inherently risky endeavour & there's no 'book' or certainty that applies. That's the whole point is it not? A brief, limited, emotionally shallow physical connection with another consenting adult? And as this case shows, that is why this has happened to this man, because the so-called 'rules of engagement' precludes any delving connection that would make clear this was a child not an adult.
