Confused
To think if you're having guests, the bath shouldn't be left like this??

Hmm. seriously

Anyway, whilst we are all gathered I'll ask a question - especially as Bath is here.

Limescale. Fucking limescale. I have lived in various parts of the UK, I have family that live not too far away & I have NEVER known limescale like it is in this house. If you leave a glass of tap water overnight you will have a solid limescale ring. You cannot leave anything 'soaking' and if you leave a glass or Pyrex type dish in water over night you will get a very solid, almost impossible line of limescale.

I don't have the space to get a water purifier installed.

I usually use a microfibre cloth to keep on top of it in the bathroom, but occasionally, very tentatively, use vikal on the shower fittings - but I'm so worried it will damage it because it's all tiled in and would be enormously expensive to replace as the bathroom tiles are no longer available.

Unfortunately the shower is over the bath & so the bath itself is really difficult too 😖 The limescale build up so quickly & makes it feel 'dry'. The bath is 5mm thick acrylic and Carronite finish for extra durability They say to clean it with washing up liquid and if necessary cream cleaner. But I'm not happy with using cream cleaner and it doesn't work well.

Any cleaning solutions that won't ruin the shower fittings or bath?!

Gabilan · 17/03/2017 21:19

Vinegar soaked cloths.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 17/03/2017 21:36

Cor blimey, it's only a tiny bit of dirt. Maybe they didn't have time to scrub it because they were too busy rolling out the red carpet for Your Highness' arrival.

CaoNiMartacus · 17/03/2017 21:37

Jesus, really? I was expecting the bath version of Emin's bed.

LauderSyme · 17/03/2017 21:58

I think the ?? in your title thread was unfortunately provocative even before you posted a pic of a very lightly soiled bath.

Chin up Bath, you have nothing to reproach yourself with, your tabloid shame is not complete. You are useful, practical and comforting and your reputation as a reliable classic will long survive this embarrassing slip.

OP do you fiercely scrub and buff every speck your house into a state of spotless rectitude before visitors arrive? Is that why your response to your host's bath was to judge it so harshly you thought it worthy of exposure to widespread derision?

And thanks everyone for this thread! Smile

whatcar · 17/03/2017 22:39

Everyone's being so mean to OP! We need to support her through this traumatic experience, not ridicule! God forbid I ever see a tub with flecks of grime, whatever where the hosts thinking!

AtHomeDadGlos · 17/03/2017 22:59

That's shocking. You have to wonder about peoples' standards today.

In other news, the first global famine in a decade has just been confirmed...but yeah, a bit of dirt in a bathtub, let's focus on that.

AteRiri · 17/03/2017 23:29

Actually when we moved to the current place we're renting the tub looks like that too. And the house has been thorougly cleaned. Could it be due to water?

AteRiri · 17/03/2017 23:29

But is anyone else wondering why you would go and visit someone and then have a bath?

Me!

Redlocks28 · 17/03/2017 23:35

What a bitchy post-I am always worried that people won't find my house clean enough. To think someone would come round and post a photo of my bath and post it on the internet beggars belief. I don't know what to say about you, OP Confused

ChristmasFluff · 17/03/2017 23:48

Erm, dunno if it's my crap computer, but I can't see any dirt? But yes, I leave my bath really dirty when I have people staying who I never want to stay again.

CustardShoes · 18/03/2017 00:02

Good Lord, OP do you know how rude you're being? What a nasty person.

WankingMonkey · 18/03/2017 00:31

Are you sure your host is not trying to kill you? Is this the first incident like this or have there been other times?

Dontactlikeyouknowme · 18/03/2017 00:38
Grin
kali110 · 18/03/2017 01:55

I seriously don't get it.
It's a few specks of dirt Confused
You come round to see someone and complain that their bath has a fee specs of dirt?

GoodnightSeattle · 18/03/2017 02:07

I don't think it's dirty however if I was the host I absolutely would have rinsed that out before guest arrived.

CustardShoes · 18/03/2017 11:54

I haven't exactly made it identifiable though

But you have shown us what you are.

Littleballerina · 18/03/2017 12:01

You would hate my house op.

Although my house guests are always polite and gracious.

PeachyImpeachment · 18/03/2017 12:13

What a bitch you are.

I can get quite stressy about people coming over as we have a busy house with kids and dogs. Then i remember that i don't pick judgy friends like you.

GrumpyOldBag · 18/03/2017 12:55

I'm glad you said it Peachy.

MrsBGharai · 18/03/2017 14:47

When we have overnight guests, there is a room with ensuite shower/toilet (eldest DDs), that we offer, as it offers privacy. I always ensure there is clean bedding and towels, I tidy it, but rarely inspect the shower.
The bathroom is used by the other children, and it is impossible to scrub for guests due to general traffic! Heaven help you if you attempted to have a bath here. There are usually dolls on the side of the bath, and various pink glittery things. A few bits of fluff would be the least of my worries!
I would assume that any overnight guest needing a bath would be capable of rinsing it out. That said, I don't charge a fee. I even supply toiletries and food!
How much are you paying for this disgraceful situation?

Janey50 · 18/03/2017 16:48

I've seen worse. Much worse. And agree with the previous posters that it's a bit off to take a picture of someone's bath and then post it on an Internet forum. Especially if they've been good enough to have you stay.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 18/03/2017 17:46

Surely just a bit of grit from somebody who has been gardening or playing sports?

Mustang27 · 18/03/2017 17:53

Lol

DavetheCat2001 · 18/03/2017 18:00
