AIBU?

AIBU to expect all the hair to be removed having a Hollywood bikini wax?

Had four of these waxes now and they always leave bits. Is it really possible to remove all the hair? Or is my waxing lady not very good? Or are my pubes super strength? Confused

I second MrsRyan's question. I have wanted to get a bikini wax for ever, but have the fear. I get my top lip waxed and find it painful but manageable - just. Am I destined to a life of shaving rash? 😂 historically veet has been less than effective 🙈.

MrsRyan - the pain is fleeting - it lasts for a couple of seconds after each section is completed. The worst, absolute worst bits are the centre bits of the 'flaps' but again, momentary discomfort and never as bad as you imagine it to be. A good trick at one place I went was to suck a lolly pop as they did the business - takes your mind off of it! Just don't choke... Grin
It usually takes 15-20 mins for the whole lot where I go but I have been going for years.

Do you have to trim your bits to a certain length before you wax? I have a full hairy growler at the moment and just think it might be easier to get it waxed.

Can I please ask those who say they like the way that their skin feels soft after waxing, what happens between waxes? Is it not all stubbly and itchy like after shaving?

Shaving cuts hair. So it feels sharp when it grows back.

Waxing pulls it from the root. When it grows back it's not blunt so it's not sharp or itchy.

Yes not a single hair on mine when it's done.

I get on the table completely starkers, I have my wax in a European country and this seems to be the norm. No paper knickers.

I can't comment on the inside hair question as I have larger labia Majora and practically non existent minora though so I don't get that problem and nothing is really "exposed"

And yes I'd recommend a trim for less pain, waxing Chewbacca definitely would have more drag factor. And perhaps a painkiller 20-30 mins before hand.

I hold my skin taut between belly and legs and my bum cheeks as mentioned.

Always such vitriol with the pre pubescent comments. There's a 46 year old woman attached to my labia ffs.

For me I love the smooth feeling, and regular waxing makes it easier for example the ingrown hairs don't really happen anymore. I don't have cares about swimsuits and shaving etc because it's always ok.

But mainly it's about the oral. Smile

I'm having good results from the Philips Lumea but I'm not sure how low to go with it!

Charlie no, because the hairs removed from the root and not shaved at an angle bluntly like a razor does it doesn't come in as stubbly as when you shave. Also the more you wax the less growth you tend to get back. It's more sparse and thinner.

Yep, mine spends ages with the tweezers afterwards. Fun for both of us (I do tip her well!!).You need a new beautician.

Definately need a therapist. I don't have anything left other than a tiny landing strip

It does hurt in all honesty, but it isnt horrendous, just take paracetamol and ibuprofen 30 mins before, and don't go just before/during/just after your monthly. Its not unbearable.

I love the feeling of a good wax, looks nice as in no stuble/rash, sex feels great, feels clean and my husband loves it. Grows back very fine and abit lesd every time. I wouldn't dream of touching it with a razor or creams now... nor growing a bush Grin

I had one for the first Time in two years yesterday. Used hot wax (not with strips) changed my view on it. I love it. I can only bear high bikini and across top but I feel so much better and cleaner for it. Hot wax is much gentler on the skin

I get that people are into different things. I can never understand why am adult woman wants to have genitalia that looks like that of a little girl, or why an adult man wants a partner to have genitalia of a little girl. I'm not meaning to cause offence to anyone and I'm not talking about paedophilia, just seems so odd to me!

I really don't get this idea that we have to look like pre pubecent girls.
I'd love to know how removing my pubic hair makes me look 40 years younger!

I can't work out how this has become the norm over time
I'd blame the ancient Egyptians - they started it.

Each to their own, of course, but I wish people wouldn't peddle the myth that it is "cleaner" when the truth is the exact opposite.

Can I ask a question of the beauticians please? If it is much more common for lots of people to have it all off, does that mean the average therapist spends tons more time waxing now than ye olden hairye dayes? I can't remember whether it was on here or real life [often confuse these] that someone mentioned that therapists go into the job liking doing facials and manicures etc but now spend tons of time doing hollywoods so basically ripping out pubes all day long. Is this annoying?

I've had brazilians before, though now sporting more volume so no moral comment on either side!

Eye spy I would say there's just as much bikini waxing done as ten years ago.

Bobbity, obviously those of us who get it off feel cleaner when the hairs away especially when on our periods. Personally we can say how we feel whether you like it or not that's how we feel and a reason
Why we do it.

This isn't a new concept people were doing it in Ancient Greece.

I read recently only about half of all women do any sort "landscaping" down there, so it's hardly the norm.

The woman who does mine only does waxing, and that's what she was hired to do. She says she enjoys it. She's very pleasant and professional.

Report
GotToGetMyFingerOut · 12/03/2017 23:28

And even though it's something like 80% of women who now remove hair, although not all off. Could just be a trim round the bikini line. A large percentage won't wax it.

I agree with others saying it isn't "the norm". Some women have it all off, some a bit, some trim, others leave it au naturel - pretending that "everyone" has a lot/everything off isn't very helpful for anyone (except salons and hair remover/razor companies)

Report
Kikikaakaa · 13/03/2017 00:01

I have to have it all off underneath and the sides, it's really uncomfortable and messy when it gets long IMO. I get mega periods and it is easier to wipe. Also I prefer sex with the underneath done. I leave a landing strip, feel like I can't quite let go of that

Report
Kikikaakaa · 13/03/2017 00:04

I think people feel cleaner. I'm not sure people were suggesting it is cleaner. I feel better when it's gone. My leg hair doesn't annoy me half as much, often don't worry about that.
