To be insanely fucking angry at this reporting...

www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/truth-female-sex-offenders/

Articles about record number of female criminals, lead with a picture of a transwoman. Rises in reported 'female' crime...ignoring that figures will be screwed from this day on given MALE crimes are logged as by females. And so on.

I am actually fucking raging about this and cannot vent anywhere except here as I would be deleted.

Surely noone actually thinks this is right?!

I am neither goady nor ignorant. I'm slightly more intelligent than average and well educated. I am also not japbab. Feel free to report my post and MN can check IP addresses. I haven't sharted for many a year.

No one here has a job to educate me, but explaining why I'm wrong as opposed to sneering comments would be much more productive. Especially as this thread will stand forever (even if deleted in its entirety
or just certain posts by MN) and therefore could be a resource on the internet.

There are specific consequences for victims that are unique to rape by a man

That's a little misguided as you can only be raped by a man. A woman inserting anything in another woman or a man is sexual assault. There are specific consequences for rape of a man. I suspect that loss of masculinity is one. Women may have been accused of inviting a rapist by a short skirt, a male victim is probably likely to feel they could and should have fought their attacker off.

and no doubt would request to be put into a women's prison...

No doubt? That's a little Daily Mail-ish.

What part of living as a woman involves forcibly penetrating people with your penis?

None. No part of being a man does either. I'm not quite sure what this rhetoric was supposed to illustrate.

@xStefx I think there are male and female brains. It's my area of expertise (PhD) and my profession and because I believe there is a difference, I believe that some people can be 'in the wrong bodies'. I think there are typically male and female personalities, aptitudes and traits.

I think that you should acknowledge the way they feel as it does you no harm and if their life is made easier with a little more thought or tact then you should do them that favour. As I suggested earlier, I see it no differently to not telling a homosexual that they're anthropologically 'weird' and simply being glad that they've found happiness in a same-sex relationship.

If a guy says he is born in the wrong body - then it seems like we have to bend over backwards to accommodate "her" and treat her like a woman

When has this ever happened to you? Can you give me a single occasion where you had to bend over backwards to accommodate a trans person?

If men and woman being born in the wrong body is a real thing

Do you disbelieve it? Some trans people are rapists and murderers but the vast majority aren't. Do you think they're just having a laugh? Do you struggle to believe that they really feel this way? Do you talk in the same way about ADD of homosexuality because the majority used to.

its just your personality

I think my personality (intellect etc) is more important than my genitals. That has been the basis of my feminism throughout my life.

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 13:23

I'm slightly more intelligent than • average and well educated

You could have fooled me.

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 13:27

I think that you should acknowledge the way they feel as it does you no harm

Um... no.

and if their life is made easier

Oh well! As long as THEIR Lives are made easier, that's all that matters right?!

webSocket · 08/03/2017 13:29

Perhaps you're less intelligent than average and don't can't write PhD, MSc, MSc and BSc and RVO after your name.

(MSc wasn't an accidental duplicate).

FYI, getting the agreement of others is not an indicator of intelligence or education.

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 13:29

I think there are male and female brains

I missed this wee gem!

If you ARE educated and work in a scientific field, that worries me greatly.

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 13:30

and don't can't write

Oh the irony 😂

xStefx · 08/03/2017 13:32

I didn't say it was weird and I didn't say I didn't believe it (im not sure what your reading but I haven't written that )

I have also not said that it does us any harm? Again im not sure what your reading

Yes - doctors being forced to say pregnant person instead of pregnant woman I would say is making people bend over backwards to accommodate them (its ridiculous actually)

Homosexuality has nothing to do with being born in the wrong body - your confusing me even more now as I haven't said any different to that either ???

We agree on one thing- personality is nothing to do with genitals, but male and female can be distinguished by genitals too (eith other things)

Next people will be telling us that we cant put male or female down on the birth certificate now until we ask the child what they want to be when they are older.

And yes you do sound ignorant and punchy, does "I'm slightly more intelligent than average and have a PHD" make you feel more valid as a person? Scene as you just had to add that lol

webSocket · 08/03/2017 13:37

I'd suggest your emphasis would have been better placed on the "If", to achieve your point.

don't can't write

Yes, there was a proofreading error. What do you want, a banana?

M v F brain arguments are well and truly undecided. I know which side of the debate I fall on. It is a theory ie. the most appropriate viewpoint based on all available evidence to date. My opinions are based on research; peer reviewed, published and critiqued.

Tell me why you're worried.

xStefx · 08/03/2017 13:37

I can imagine it now:

Woman (Sorry pregnant person) gives birth
Pregnant person " What is it" ?
doctor " Well it has a vagina but lets NOT put female on the birth certificate until its older and has decided for itself"

Whether you like it or not male and female are recognised by genitals at birth (oh and the scan) to my knowledge they haven't done a brain scan on my DD to check !!!

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 13:40

Yes, there was a proofreading error. What do you want, a banana?

All that education, and the manners of a rabid Labrador. What a waste.

PoochSmooch · 08/03/2017 13:46

OK, web, as we're doing science, lets talk about the size of the d-values that are generally found when we're looking for sex based brain differences. What makes you think they are big enough to be significant, when all the (published, peer reviewed) research that I have seen does not demonstrate that.

We can't even demonstrably correlate "female" brains into female bodies, and "male" into male, never mind demonstrate "female" brains existing in male bodies or "male" in female.

No matter what Simon Baron Cohen might say.

And even if we could, so what? Why would we prioritise the "gender" of the brain over the physical, chromosomal, phenotypal, genotypal SEX of the body? It's just bonkers.

PoochSmooch · 08/03/2017 13:47

Bugger! I've let myself get derailed.

Sorry.

VestalVirgin · 08/03/2017 13:50

So that's the practical impact. We have no meaningful way to gather data any more. Then there's the impact on women - if we cannot name the problem of male violence, because we can't say what male violence is then we are put in the position of never being able to address it. All we will be able to say is "Well, some people are violent, aren't they? Wonder why?". No hope of anything changing, ever.

And I think that is exactly what the transactivists and MRAs. (TRAs and MRAs are probably mostly the same, I wouldn't be surprised) want.

They want to invisible male violence. Not sure whether they have intentionally conspired to do this, or it is just the "invisible hand", many men doing what they like best resulting in more efficient oppression of women ... but it works.

MrsTrentReznor · 08/03/2017 13:51

All that education, and the manners of a rabid Labrador. What a waste.

I love it when people tell me how well educated they are.
Makes me feel all subordinate.

DrudgeJedd · 08/03/2017 13:59

ignores sealion

I see that the rapist shithead was arrested last night, he better not be housed in a women's jail

webSocket · 08/03/2017 14:04

Scene as you just had to add that

There's as much irony there as in my typo Smile

Yes, having a PhD on a related subject does make me feel more validated in my opinion. Not as a person.

I didn't say I didn't believe it

You did say If men and woman being born in the wrong body is a real thing then. The speculative conditional lends heavy weight to your disbelief.

Next people will be telling us that we cant put male or female down on the birth certificate now until we ask the child what they want to be when they are older.

Will they? What makes you so sure? The vast majority of people identify with the genitalia they have which is what makes trans people so mis-understood or unusual in our society (in a similar way to homosexuals). Being unusual doesn't mean you're less deserving. This is supported by modern attitudes to AEN and sexuality amongst others.

Doctors being forced to say pregnant person instead of pregnant woman I would say is making people bend over backwards to accommodate them

  1. I'm not sure Drs are being forced to say so.
  2. if this is the extent of bending over backwards that you see then this discussion is a waste of time.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with being born in the wrong body

They are both anthropological abnormalities that, to my mind, don't detract from a persons worth. There are clear parallels.

@DianaMemorialJam

It was you who brought up irrelevant and easily understandable typos. My etiquette lessons ended in prep school.

Bugger! I've let myself get derailed.

No you didn't. You were attempting to get into an overly complex argument beyond the scope of this thread. I assume this is your field too. Myusername 001 @ gmail. I will respond to any questions, tell you my real (published) name and defend my backing of a theory. Funny we both know Simon Cohen. Small world!

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 14:09

web you're coming across as such a pretentious dick it's almost sick making

dangermouseisace · 08/03/2017 14:11

I think the problem is that there are genuine people who feel that they were born the wrong gender, and transition and go about their lives perfectly legally and nicely and are a threat to no-one, and are more likely to be on the receiving end of shit than dealing it out. And then you get the minority of people who are completely taking the piss- e.g. Lisa, and that bloke who said he was female, went to a women's prison and was shagging the female prisoners. The trouble is, how can you tell which kind of person it is going to be until it is too late? It is, unfortunately, a situation fraught with risk.

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 14:11

MrsTrent due to my typical female socialisation I'm a masochist at heart. Being talked down to gets my motors running

I can say that I have a gazillion relevant phds and doctorates on the internet too. Talk is cheap and internet typing is free!

But it won't be convincing if my posts don't back up my claims.

I don't identify with my vagina....

I do have one though and I am reminded of it every few weeks where it prevents me from leaving the house with risk of flooding.

xStefx · 08/03/2017 14:18

Diana, web has read too many books. When you have read so much shit written by Dr Bonkers et al you start to believe it. (its not her fault)

Pooch- I like how web doesn't reply to your post? I think you have hit the nail there :-)

Waiting patiently for the next smart ass comment back :-)

I always find that people who feel the need to boast about their "achievements" are just lacking confidence. But hey, that's just my educated view lol

humourless · 08/03/2017 14:18

"Female" language is being erased.
Female spaces are being erased.
