Neighbours shagging in their hot tub at 5am this morning

And the bastards regularly have loud parties in that festering chlamydia soup with their mates until the early hours at least twice a week.

They're keeping me awake and waking up the DC and I'm fed up with it.

They are really brash and vulgar and alas I am an anxious type and not brave enough to confront them.

But what can I do?!

So I double posted. Get over it.

GreatAuntMary · 07/03/2017 22:07

OP, you could take this film as a blueprint:

...

Night hours are 11.00 pm until 7.00 am there set noise limits between that time. You can complain to the council and they should investigate. Speak to other neighbours and if they have the same complaint then even better it means you got other witnesses and complainants to support you. You can still contact the police and report as antisocial behaviour.

Ohyesiam · 07/03/2017 22:27

I would hang out of the window with a megaphone , and loudly critique their technique, sports commentator style. Plenty of derogatory comments about poor performance, lack of variety and finesse.....

SanitysSake · 07/03/2017 22:33

Ohyesiam - that would be my OH and I!!

ComeOnSpring · 07/03/2017 22:49

Ew.

What about your DCs OP? Hope their rooms don't face that way?

flyingspaghettimonster · 07/03/2017 23:14

food dye - lots of it in a mix of red, yellow and blue so water goes murky brown and puts them off...

esmaesmomma · 07/03/2017 23:47

Il probably get shot for this but I think before you approach their landlord/letting company or make any official complaint you should just have a friendly talk with them.. they will probably be pretty embarrassed and very apologetic of course if it doesn't stop then you need to take action and report them.

missmayup · 08/03/2017 02:35

Oi Gallavich, us Worthing folk aren't all sexual deviants! Hahaha.

Bless you though op. That's awful. I think I'd go down the letting agent route as I'd hate the idea of talking to them personally. My neighbors aren't quite that gross but are suuuuuuper loud and I can't do a lot as we are their only neighbours. :( I need a little island for me and my babies really, I'm not a people person! Hee hee! 😝

leighb23 · 08/03/2017 06:50

I'm sure there will be other fluids in the tub - I've got one, a permanent one so not an inflatable one which you have to add chemicals every so often and empty the water every 3 months, wash the tub and refil. My point was anything soapy could well render the tub useless as it will nause up the workings and I wouldn't want to have to pay for a new tub!

Alleycat1 · 08/03/2017 07:19

Hot tubs are revolting anyway, so I can't imagine any sane person wanting to shag in one. All that bacteria floating about just waiting for a chance to rot your bits off!

Patriboots · 08/03/2017 08:49

Great effort. Not many of us getting laid at that time anymore :) Suggest you go and have a respectful chat and they may take your views on board. Suspect however if they saw this post then they would become even more unneighbourly.

craftycarls · 08/03/2017 09:35

Clap when they've finished!

Onecutefox · 08/03/2017 10:01

Please contact their agents first. I live in a rented property and we don't dare to make loud noise between 11pm and 7am. It is even quieter before 11pm as we have small children who go to bed early. If they ignore the agents and complaints follow they may be asked to leave the property and loose their deposit.

Onecutefox · 08/03/2017 10:03

"lose"

chatnanny · 08/03/2017 10:08

OP As an ex-landlord of a student house, I can confirm that the landlord will be notified of the service of a 'noise abatement notice' and will be obliged to display said notice in property. Unless it was just because I let it through the university? If the landlord is responsible their will be something in the lease forbidding loud noise (maybe not sex in hot tub!). I think the police would have a quiet word first and then you can take it from there. If you are going to make a noise complaint to the local authority or police, keep a diary and recordings. I have to say we found nothing made any difference to the students so we had enough and sold it. PP And I thought Worthing was a nice quiet place ;/

ImageQueen · 08/03/2017 10:44

I would speak to them.

Be careful about doing anything formal initially as if you do decide to sell, you are legally obliged to declare any complaints/letters/dealings with the neighbours.

It must be awful but I think people can be too quick to jump into confrontation and making reports etc.
Just try a friendly discussion in the first instance.
Good luck. X

[SHOCK] If you own the house then making a formal complaint to the council could be a mistake. When you try to sell the property the solicitors may find the complaint on a local search... this'll either leave you with a collapsed sale or a price reduction. Perhaps leave this to be a last resort.
Start with the agent first - complain constructively so that they don't switch into defensive mode.
All else fails, you could install a dummy CCTV camera on your house and point it at the offending hot-tub. If that doesn't stop them then you could set up a live feed with pay per view on the internet!
I feel for you - this would annoy the hell out of me... the swinging bollocks comment made me laugh though.
