YY Becca Joe Halewood has been saying it on his housing blog for years.

Did you watch The Last Leg last night. They talked about PIP quite extensively about 35 to 40 mins in and they covered what youve just said in your post too.

Becca19962014 · 04/03/2017 15:27

I haven't seen it, its good someone's covering it though obviously not that it's happening. Sometimes I feel like I'm speaking in a void on here about this stuff.

Depressing comments underneath about how a lot of younger ppl will feel that having a child is the only choice they have to avoid homelessness.

CarrieMyBag · 04/03/2017 15:40

I think calling all Tories bastards would convince them to vote otherwise, yes.. Hmm

I happen to agree with some of their policies before I get flamed.

MsHooliesCardigan · 04/03/2017 15:48

In my job, I see people living in poverty that's impossible for most people to imagine e.g. A family of 4 living in a tiny room with rats and cockroaches running around and sharing a kitchen and bathroom with 10 other people. And that landlord is charging the council £500 per week for that room. It's sick but everyone just turns a blind eye to it.

TitaniasCloset · 04/03/2017 15:50

I live in a very deprived area of London and make no mistake, the young people are fully aware that this government is fucking them over. They are depressed about it but trying to make practical choices from what I can see ss opposed to following their dreams and heading for uni etc.

This government are a bunch if ruthless cunts and anyone who voted for them is complicit in my view.

I have spoken to social workers and staff in the benefit office and a mental health charity about pip and universal credit, all of them agree that the proposed changes are unnecessary and the most vulnerable will suffer.

expatinscotland · 04/03/2017 16:00

It's a fucking shower of shite.

theluckiest · 04/03/2017 16:35

It's all just so fucking awful. It's like the Tories have decided to drag the country back to the 1850s let alone the 1950s....why don't they just cut the shit and reintroduce workhouses for all these 'scrounging' poor people and have done with it?!

Education, NHS, social housing, disability benefits - is there anything that the cynical, ruthless fuckers haven't turned to shit?

There are a lot of very angry people in this country. What will it take before we all stand up to tell them 'enough'?

I work in education...don't get me started on the financial shitstorm about to hit schools across the country in the next couple of years (despite the DFE lies that education funding has increased....bullshit. Utter bullshit)

Corrupt, arrogant, lying and downright cruel fuckers.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 04/03/2017 16:40

I happen to agree with some of their policies before I get flamed.

The victimisation of the poor, young and disabled ones? Hmm

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 04/03/2017 16:42

Actually if you read the policy it's very clear that there are a huge number of exemptions - if your parents kick you out, or you cannot live with them due to abuse, or you are already homeless, or a plethora of other reasons, you ARE entitled to housing benefit.

I expect there'll be some issues with the policy though as the Treasury attempt to make it stricter to save more money (see UC now compared to what it was intended to be at first).

abbsisspartacus · 04/03/2017 16:47

You can't claim universal credit without a permenant address and they are replacing all benefits with u/c so if you are kicked out of your parents house your screwed

Becca19962014 · 04/03/2017 17:05

You need proof of prosecution for abuse, if no prosecution then you're expected to go through mediation. There are MANY reasons prosecution may not happen and assuming the person claiming they've been abusedis lying is not the only one.

You need to provide proof of mediation if your family kick you out. Same if you're pregnant and not with your partner anymore.

This can take months. There's no money during this.

No money for temporary accommodation - there are areas which already do this, in mine housing benefits are only for permenant housing not b&b/night shelter. Our night shelter will now only accept people with a referral from social services or a cpn. No one else is allowed, those who are the charge is £9 per night - think that sounds reasonable? JSA won't cover £9 a night.

Becca19962014 · 04/03/2017 17:08

(JSA for under 25s that should say, those over have £9 left).

dreamingofsun · 04/03/2017 17:30

is this because they have to give the same benefits to people coming from the EU? So to try and reduce the amount of benefits we pay to people from other countries, they've had to do the same to UK nationals?

TeaCake5 · 04/03/2017 17:32

Anyone who votes tory should hang their head in shame.

OhSoggyBiscuit · 04/03/2017 17:40

This is why I'm probably going to still have to live at my parents house at age 30. I can't get a job (SN, struggle with interviews), I won't get housing benefit- and if I'm moved from JSA to Universal Credit I'll lose a LOT per week because I get the disability premium due to also claiming DLA. (and god help me when they decide to move me over to PIP!!)

I'm basically screwed over. Thanks Tories you cunts.

PinkCrystal · 04/03/2017 17:46

Yanbu

Sick of selfish people voting for the shower and making us all suffer. Horrid selfish ideology.

Anyone that votes them is complicit.

havingabadhairday · 04/03/2017 17:47

is this because they have to give the same benefits to people coming from the EU?

No, it's because the Tories would ideally like to scrap the benefits system pretty much altogether.

CallingGloria · 04/03/2017 18:14

I'd rather cuts to the 18-21s than further cuts to families. They can at least find work or training, or somewhere to live easier than a family of four for example.

megletthesecond · 04/03/2017 18:19

Yanbu.

GraceGrape · 04/03/2017 18:19

How about they don't make cuts to either Gloria??

CallingGloria · 04/03/2017 18:21

Well there aint much money about and after Brexit there may be less

CaliforniaHorcrux · 04/03/2017 18:25

Too many people have the I'm Alright Jack attitude and don't care but should remember they're only one pay day away from being unemployed
themselves and becoming subject to the very horrible things they wished for. I'm not a vindictive person by any means but if someone complains about a tory policy I always ask them who they voted for or if they voted at all, to see if they have grounds to complain.
Nearly twenty years ago I lost my mother and became homeless and if it hadn't been for HB I would have ended up on the streets myself. If what happened to me then was to happen now I definitely would be.
Tories can go hang themselves

balia · 04/03/2017 18:33

Well there aint much money about and after Brexit there may be less

So where do you think they are getting the money to fund tax CUTS for the wealthiest?

FFS

GraceGrape · 04/03/2017 18:35

As is explained on every thread like this, cuts against the poor are a deliberate policy choice. If there was a real need to save money, how come the government can afford to lower the tax rate for high earners and cut corporation tax? Because these will benefit wealthy people who are more likely to vote Tory. "Austerity" policies are highly unlikely to have affected the rich whereas the poorest in society have had their already meagre resources slashed. And maybe we could just axe the Brexit shit-fest that is already costing billions just to set up a government department!
