This is more about logic and free speech than simply Trans issues. A catholic group paid to advertise their message on a bus that Girls have vulvas and boys have penises. Seems it was a reaction to a similar ad promoting that girls have penises and boys have vulvas. Aibu to be concerned that logic and free speech is under attack? Why was one claim allowed and another censored? This seems to be a sign of the times and I'm getting worried. Who is choosing which ideas, agendas are allowed and promoted?

Isn't it funny that people who insist that there are more than 2 sexes can't name any others, describe them. explain how they aren't abnormal variances, or tell us how they fit into human reproduction at all?

It's almost as if they don't actually know what they are talking about.....

augustbody · 01/03/2017 21:01

Girls have vulvas, boys have penises.

There are no girls with penises, there are no boys with vulvas.

There are only two sexes.

That drawing is really fucking disturbing.

That's it.

ladyballs · 01/03/2017 21:17

What augustbody said. With bells on.

There are a disturbing number of transwomen who commit sex offences against children and underage teens. This case, of a of a transwoman who led a youth group is truly shocking. Kids from the group say Julianna Fialkowski molested far more teenagers than the transboy whose abuse JF was charged with. People who insist that transwomen are women should perhaps be made aware that their criminality tells a very different story.

joystir59 · 01/03/2017 22:15

Please stop using the term 'transwoman'. There is no kind of women other than a biological one.

ladyballs · 01/03/2017 22:25

What term would you use joystir? I'm a fan of MTT.

Bevgoldsberg hit the nail on the head.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/03/2017 23:51

Many ('terfy') people don't mind 'transwoman' as a category - its 'trans woman' which is problematic as that unambiguously claims to be a type of woman. Subtle distinction, I know.

Dallyw · 02/03/2017 00:00

Trans woman is not a problem, it is accepting of men who feel they need to present as the stereotypes of being a "woman" for what ever reason. People are comfortable with that. Wear a dress or put makeup on, nobody cares. However if you are born with a penis you are a man. If you are born with a vagina and want to shave your head and wear "man clothes" you are a woman who prefers to present in society's definition of a male. Neither is abnormal. It's clothes and hair, likes and dislikes. But saying you are trapped in a different sex body is very questionable

I think presenting your 3 year old as trans is child abuse.

Dallyw · 02/03/2017 00:09

I agree. Let children grow and be who they are, I think age 18 is fair to make valid life changes esp when it comes to being made sterile. Ffs let kids be kids let them be elsa on Monday, hulk on Tuesday and not give a shit on Wednesday! Let them develop in their own right! I don't think parents should contribute to gender issues by law. Let them control it themselves when they have the capacity to know the implications of their choices

Barcoo2 · 02/03/2017 00:18

If the poster had said "Some boys are feminine, some girls are masculine", no one would be complaining. But the message is actually the opposite of that, with a bizarre fixation on the children's genitals.

Dallyw · 02/03/2017 00:35

It does feel like the trans movement is actively sexualising children and disregarding women's freedom of safety. What is happening???

ageingrunner · 02/03/2017 09:26

I agree Datun. It's really worrying.

Bambambini · 02/03/2017 09:30

"i feel we are getting to a point in society where we are being told what to think and say. I have nothing against an adult man who feels he is a woman. I would call him by his chosen name and treat with the same respect as any other human being. I don't believe a woman can be born in a mans body, but by voicing that am I transphobic? No I am not, but a lot of people will say I am. I think we are becoming too scared of voicing our opinions for fear of being offensive. I think it's quite a dangerous thing, does it mean laws can be passed because people are too worried to object? Or things being taught in school and classed as "normal" when people are too worried about saying "I don't agree" because of the negative backlash."

Exactly this. People are beginning to notice and are becoming worried and that exactly this is happening. We are being shut down, laws a could be passed and we won't be able to speak out. the recent Trans debate and how folk are being bullied, silenced, threatened, shamed (look how Ian McEwan had to publicly backtrack for saying men have penises) - just highlights this change in people being pressurised to think a certain way and being afraid to speak out.

"There are 2 biological sexes" is a scientifically controversial statement (and I think the prevailing view, although I'm open to being corrected, is that biological sex is a spectrum, or that other biological sexes, other than male and female exist

Jesus wept.

There are two sexes: XX female and XY male. Your body can only be designed to produce ova (eggs) or sperm. No mammal is ever able to produce both. The fact that some individuals are born with some of their egg or sperm production equipment not working does not alter the fact that they have either an egg or sperm producer body.

About 2 in 1000 people have an abnormality of the sex chromosomes, meaning that they are neither XX or XY and cannot produce eggs or sperm. This does not mean that sex is a spectrum FFS - it means that some people unfortunately have sex chromosome abnormalities.

BertrandRussell · 02/03/2017 10:03

"other biological sexes, other than male and female exist"

What are they and who says?

paddypants13 · 02/03/2017 10:08

As pp have said, I find both adverts distasteful and think both should be banned.

However, females have vulvas and males have penises, that is an inescapable scientific fact.

Gender and marriage are social constructs so having an advert stating marriage is only between a man and a woman is not the same as stating the truth about biological sex.

Que no te enganen (I can't find the tilde on my phone), sums it up.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 02/03/2017 10:39

According to the link I posted up thread, the money for the trans propaganda ad came from an anonymous American donor. I wonder if this is the immensely rich trans activist who funds 30 gender clinics for children in the USA. I also wonder about this individual's motivation.

Booboostwo · 02/03/2017 10:42

There are a number of biological factors that go towards determining sex and sometimes they do not all point in the same direction challenging the traditional male/female duality.

There are external sexual characteristics, like penises, vulvas, testicles.
There are internal sexual characteristics, like ovaries and wombs
There is the individula's genetic makeup.
There are a number of factors affecting the endocrinological system.

In some people there is a mixture of female and male sexual characteristics. In rare cases there can be a mixture of external sexual characteristics.

TheOnlyLivingBoyinNewCork · 02/03/2017 10:46

None of those things challenge the fact that humans are sexually dimorphic.

And none of it has anything to do with trans issues anyway. Why do people keep going on about intersex conditions on these threads? Trans people are not intersex.
