To think, No, i don't have to let them try on my expensive shoes?

I have a collection of expensive shoes, Irregular choice, they're upward of £80 a pair and most of them are sparkly as i like the glitter.

Obviously kids tend to gravitate to the glitter, and as i have them on display in my house, when i have a couple of friends over, the little girls like to ask to look and try them on.

I always say no, but my friend told me i'm being a bit mean, because "they're only shoes."

AIBU to think that not toys and they aren't going to like it if their kid manages to damage them and i ask them to replace them if they get scuffed or scratched? ITs not like it can be polished out or hidden, it'd spoil the look of the shoe.

I don't even let my own 8yo put them on as she'd fall flat on her face.

I love IC shoes, can't wear them, but have often thought I'd have a display cabinet with several pairs, they're so beautiful. Some very rude pp on here commenting on ugliness: beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. £80 is, to me, quite a lot to spend on shoes.

Having an expensive collector's item on display in a cabinet is hardly comparable to leaving an open box of chocolates on the coffee table and making kids sit there without being allowed to have one!

Food that is put out is generally assumed to be for visitor consumption. I would never in a million years expect a visitor to rifle though cabinets and turn adult items into toys for their kids.

Wow lol I'm clearly too much of a bloke it really is news to me. I get the op not wanting the kids to touch them though.

"Erm, shoe cabinets are v common Mustang, I know tons of people who have one."

I can honestly say that I have never seen a shoe cabinet. Plenty of shoe racks, but never a cabinet, and certainly not one that displays shoes as ornaments. I must have led a sheltered life.

@ClothEaredBint thanks, that's good advice Smile

@EricNorthmanIsMine brilliant thanks! I lived in Russia for a lot of years and I miss it every day, part of the reason I was drawn to the Moscow pattern. I saw the fairy and loved the look of it too - to many to choose from! Grin
