To think, No, i don't have to let them try on my expensive shoes?

I have a collection of expensive shoes, Irregular choice, they're upward of £80 a pair and most of them are sparkly as i like the glitter.

Obviously kids tend to gravitate to the glitter, and as i have them on display in my house, when i have a couple of friends over, the little girls like to ask to look and try them on.

I always say no, but my friend told me i'm being a bit mean, because "they're only shoes."

AIBU to think that not toys and they aren't going to like it if their kid manages to damage them and i ask them to replace them if they get scuffed or scratched? ITs not like it can be polished out or hidden, it'd spoil the look of the shoe.

I don't even let my own 8yo put them on as she'd fall flat on her face.

I think the idea of a shoe cabinet give me a fanny flutter GrinBlush

When I win the lottery...

MyKidsHaveTakenMySanity · 24/02/2017 15:22

OP, pleeeeeease post a pic!

If I owned Irregular Choice shoes I too would like them on display. They're stunning creations and although not my taste to wear, they're beautiful and interesting and perfect for display.
You should definitely NOT put them away! And you should definitely NOT allow children to touch them!
If your friend thinks that it's okay for her kids to play with expensive items then I hope she has her purse ready to replace any that get scuffed!

MiddleClassProblem · 24/02/2017 15:22

I can't find mine!!!! I think DH has May heals in the garage as I was up the duff when we moved in! They must have been there all this time! I feel like I've neglected a pet!

Springersrock · 24/02/2017 15:23

Shoe cabinet!!!!

I have a couple of pairs of Irregular Choice shoes. I'm scared to wear them, let alone visiting children

MimsyFluff · 24/02/2017 15:23

I love irregular choice and my DD's can often be found prancing around in them Grin

YANBU though

Floggingmolly · 24/02/2017 15:24

Jesus, I've just googled these; and the first picture up was a unicorn shaped shoe Shock.
SHOW US THE SHOES, OP!!

kali110 · 24/02/2017 15:24

Yanbu at all, i wouldn't let anybody touch my irregular choice either!
Why should you have to put it away when people come over Confused
Just because it's not a car, or tv doesn't make it less valuable.
Just say no.
Tell the friend that the little ones can use their prizes stuff instead.

DartmoorDoughnut · 24/02/2017 15:24

YANBU

Although if you don't post a pic of said shoe cabinet I'm changing my 'vote'!

MyKidsHaveTakenMySanity · 24/02/2017 15:25

Look what google found! An Irregular Choice collection.

::swoon::

So pretty. I'd display them too. Proudly.

We are going to need to see a photo of the shoe cabinet before we can say anything else. Envy

ProudBadMum · 24/02/2017 15:26

Please say the display is this!

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 24/02/2017 15:27

I wouldn't let someone else wear my Crocs, let along delicate shoes which cost £££.

They're mine.

Tell them to feck off.

SparklyUnicornPoo · 24/02/2017 15:27

YANBU, even if they weren't really expensive special shoes, no one has to let other people (child or adult) try on their shoes. Mine are for my feet and nobody elses because feet are gross.

ImYourMama · 24/02/2017 15:27

I wish I had room to display mine Blush

Tell your friends that they're not toys and kids should learn they can't play with everything they see.

bloodyteenagers · 24/02/2017 15:28

Move stuff, are you mad?
No parents learn the word no and tell their kids this word. They aren't going to combust on hearing this word. They might not like but tough shit.. Hide stuff.. What a joke.
Next it will be don't display your first editions in case little Marmalade want to read it, whilst eating a juicy orange.
Or don't leave any painting on display incase little Jamberry wants to add to it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/02/2017 15:28

Ooh lovely.

YANBU OP.

Katedotness1963 · 24/02/2017 15:28

If those are the shoes I'm thinking of I'd display them too! Just keep saying they're not for playing with.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/02/2017 15:30

ImYourMama you've got loads! Jealous.

Irregular choice has less out there ones too notcall unicorns and storm troopers

highinthesky · 24/02/2017 15:30

Sounds like you need words with your "friend", OP.

WindwardCircle · 24/02/2017 15:31

One of the victims in the first series of The Fall had a shoe cabinet, actually that's stayed with me more than anything else about the program.

ImYourMama · 24/02/2017 15:32

MiddleClass I don't like the really 'out there' ones with storm troopers as heels, but I love glitter, bows and statement shoes. I have a pair of shoes to match each bag I own. But I wear primark/second hand clothes and drive a banger, these are my luxury Grin

MiddleClassProblem · 24/02/2017 15:33

My Ic shoes and other naice shoes (I have a pair of pink satin ones) are not for wearing out. They are just there for my pleasure and I pop them on at home for a pick me up. They would get wrecked it I wore them out because I'm a malco who falls in puddles and trips on paving stones. It's like eating a very luxurious dessert, just slipping them on for a bit.

purpleprincess24 · 24/02/2017 15:35

I've just googled Irregular Choice Shoes .... wish I hadn't as I'm now extremely jealous 👡🦄👠
