Settle a debate.
Dh wants to paint the front door. No problem, I've said he can do anything but white as it just looks common and tacky imo.
Would you believe it, white is the only colour he wants!

i guess white uvpc doors are popular because they are so cheap to buy.

girlandboy · 22/02/2017 20:26

I live in a listed building with a white wooden front door. I'm not allowed to change the colour.
My door is not common!

NotYoda · 22/02/2017 20:26

The only reason I didn't have bright yellow was that it wouldn't go with next door's sage green. Damn her!

bloodymaria · 22/02/2017 20:27

I'll tell you what's common, and that's goady OPs tonight.

Buxtonstill · 22/02/2017 20:27

'Common' is making sneery remarks about others and judging people on the colour of a door. I would buy a white door if it kept the snobs away....

NotYoda · 22/02/2017 20:28

I think the OP is having a laugh and we should give her the benefit of the doubt and join in!

HemanOrSheRa · 22/02/2017 20:29

I read on a survey that 98% of people thought that homes with white UPVC doors were more likely to have bought their furniture from Brighthouse. what a load of fecking bollocks Grin.

pipsqueak25 · 22/02/2017 20:29

no photo but mine is black gloss painted , brass door knocker and letter box, the windows are wooden framed but the previous owners thought it nice to have a uvpc front door why ???

OpalIridescence · 22/02/2017 20:29

I have a white PVC front door...

Scratches arse, pulls up trackie bottoms and wanders off to the offie

MegaBlocksBaby · 22/02/2017 20:29

Can't believe you have a front door OP. Common as muck, darling. I employ a poor person local woman to hold up a sheer curtain made of unicorn hair which was woven into an organic 'door-like structure' by poor people mountain dwelling artisans. It's designed not just to facilitate, but to enhance the entry and exit event and to nurture the porch-to-street experience.

Sweets101 · 22/02/2017 20:30

Don't go for sage green, most houses it doesn't suit plus it was such a fad it already looks dated.

isseywithcats · 22/02/2017 20:30

i live in a naice avenue with a golf course opposite and 9/10 of the houses on our avenue have white doors cor we must all be more common than we thought we were

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 22/02/2017 20:30

Next door have a volvo, a Labrador and shop in Waitrose- I'm horrified to think that all this is just to disguise the fact they have a white front door.

NotYoda · 22/02/2017 20:31

Maybe Architect Grey? Round here you can spot the Architects by the grey door and grey window frames.

SuperSheepdog · 22/02/2017 20:31

I don't like white upvc and I've heard they are the easiest doors to break in to. White as a colour can look nice though, or is this a racist door thread Grin

MercyMyJewels · 22/02/2017 20:32

What IS common exactly?

CactusFred · 22/02/2017 20:34

Do you know what IS common and tacky?

Judging people by the colour of their front door!

Let's start a white cars are common thread instead. Why not.

gameofchance · 22/02/2017 20:34

I dislike white front doors too (especially the really naff upvc ones with lots of stained glass effect). Although not as bad as the purple painted one my next door neighbour chose

PortiaCastis · 22/02/2017 20:35

Read this OP

To think white front doors are common?
SerialCerealKiller · 22/02/2017 20:37

White cars are indeed common, less so than silver though Wink

I would love a red door but dh is having none of it. Grey will become common soon too. What else is left?

Erm being an arse has obviously been taken

NancyJoan · 22/02/2017 20:41

My door is very shiny raspberry pink. I love it!

NotYoda · 22/02/2017 20:42

Serial

Just look at Farrow and Ball's colour card, take it to a dulux matching thing. Bob's your uncle. No possibility of class-based mistakes

NotYoda · 22/02/2017 20:43

I am quite partial to a sugary pale-ish pink. Vetoed by DH
