I have a particular hobby that can keep me up and online until late in the night as the people I do it with live mostly in the USA, so quite often the action doesn't start until 11pm and will go on through our Night.

I usually bail between 1 and 2am, but with it being Half Term and me not having to get up until i'm ready (the kids wake me to get breakfast then I go back to bed and leave them play) I stayed up until 4.30 the other night as there were a lot of us online and we were doing a group action.

DS is autistic and has taken to wandering around 1-2am so there is little point in me going to bed before then, I wait until he's resettled then I go to bed.

When I was up til 4.30, DH kept getting up to go pee and then he'd go "Come on its XXX, you need to get to bed" like some talking clock.

AIBU to tell him to piss off? I'm 35 years old, i'm a big girl, if I want to stay up until 4.30am, knowing I have to get up with the kids in the morning, surely that's my problem?

TBH, he's a bloody hypocrite, I forget the amount of times he's sat up til gone 5am pissing about on his playstation, the only time I ever got up to tell him to go to bed was when I knew he'd got work the next day, and all i'd say was 'keep an eye on the time, you have to be up at X" and then leave him to it!

Someone having fun with friends all over the world is depressing? Just cos you don't do it doesn't make it so.

mhmhmhmh Oh give over, you're obviously on a wind up here.

Userone1 · 21/02/2017 20:41

I think the OP should LARP text some thunder bolts at all the haters Grin

I agree with Mhmhmhmh, it does sound a bit depressing but I guess that's the modern world for you. The idea of any human being, man, woman, child - spending so much time on a computer through the night, with no actual face to face contact, to me, seems sad and depressing. But each to their own I guess

Once !!! ONCE!

Just wondering.
Whats the difference between chatting and creating online with friends you cant see (maybe op can maybe they have webchats?) and talking to someone on the bloody phone?

CherrySkull · 21/02/2017 23:20

crisps? I fucking wish, I haven't eaten a single crisp since Christmas, nor had any biscuits, cake, alcohol or sweets.

The only thing I eat at that time of night is my cats tail as she likes trying to stick it up my nose!

ok, so I have lost nearly 20lbs in weight too, so I guess its worth the trade Grin

Eating crisps AND using the computer?!

I'm not commenting on all the other ridiculousness in this thread, but OP, I totally get where you are coming from with the 'better being awake to resettle DS than waking up to do it'

At the start of my career I had to do Guard duties on Camp. They were usually set out as 2 on, 2 off, 4 on 4 off (repeat) for 24 hours. I never slept during my 'off' hours as it made me feel much worse to be woken up for my 'stag' than if I was already awake. Back then we didn't have online gaming or the like, but we did have a video games we would play.

I would do my shift awake and then sleep for the final 4 hours off (if it fell right) or would just stay awake for the full 24 and sleep off the next day. It was good training for the baby years Smile
