Especially to the working mums with children under 10 or under 5.
Just interested to know what percentage are watching the children vs being holed up in their man-caves.

He's sitting in bed next to me reading a book but it's 8.30am and we're having a lazy morning :)

At 5-6pm he's usually cooking dinner while watching the boys. I'm normally at work till 6 and home by 6.15 so he has to do weekday dinners.

Sorry your oh's daughter is so poorly, theTAW - hope she gets better soon.

Piratefairy78 · 17/02/2017 19:38

Mine went to the gym on the way home from work, came in, had a shower and ate dinner with the family. He's made me a G&T, washed up and is now putting DDs to bed before we watch the rugby with DS.

TheTAW · 17/02/2017 19:39

Thank you.

pinkhorse · 17/02/2017 19:40

He left work to help me look for a lost pet then made the most beautiful Yorkshire puddings to go with our roast and washed up at the same time. I'm sat down with a gin!
I'm very lucky, love him to bits!

SoMuchPain · 17/02/2017 19:42

He was still at work. Got back at 7pm. I was bathing the kids (but he usually does it). He's singing to them downstairs - les Mis or something lol they just love his voice. He will load the dishwasher and he'll cook a salmon meal for us this eveninng too. I can now hear him coming upstairs to put kids to bed. He's bloody amazing god bless him xx

SoMuchPain · 17/02/2017 19:43

Oh I'm about to have a shower lol

SymbollocksInteractionism · 17/02/2017 19:45

He came in from work about an hour ago (I'm day off today) and now he's dropping teenage DS off at a party.

lilyborderterrier · 17/02/2017 19:51

He's read an extra sneaky story to our daughter and put up a new light fitting in the bedroom he's decorating for us,after a stressful 12 hour day.
Good lad.

limon · 17/02/2017 19:53

He's putting our daughter to bed.

MrsAukerman · 17/02/2017 19:56

At the point you posted this (ten to 6) he was watching TV with our two year old having had sole charge of him all day (like every Tuesday and Friday).
He's done 2 loads of laundry, playgroup, cooked, tidied at then did bath and bed too!

He's not that perfect each and every day but then again neither am I.

TisapityshesaGeordie · 17/02/2017 19:57

Well at the time you posted he was at work. Once he got in he tidied up the kids mess, hoovered, and is now putting the kids to bed while I make our dinner.

N1ghtshade · 17/02/2017 19:58

Thanks for all the replies everyone. We're in Germany so an hour ahead and both left work early as this is common here.
I sometimes think I wouldn't have anything to complain about if I didn't have DH, but its nice to be able to sometimes share the workload even if I have to hand out to-do listsor have an evening out .
And I have to correct my original post because ALL mums are working mums, its exhausting either way.
Those with OH's that cook are very fortunate, equally so those with OHs that can order a nice take-away.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Bathing dd and putting her to bed while I sit with a glass of wine!

N1ghtshade · 17/02/2017 20:00

common to leave work early on Fridays - that is

Pinkponiesrock · 17/02/2017 20:02

Was working until 7.30 then home and straight back out to go running. He missed running club yesterday night as I had a late meeting. In fact he's just returned from his run. DCs and I are having a movie night

KarmaKit · 17/02/2017 20:02

At work until 9.30 tonight. If he had been here at 5.45 he'd have been doing dinner I expect, he likes to cook and I don't enjoy it so it's his job when he's around.

He doesn't have a man cave/office/den, and is as engaged in family life and domestic stuff as I am. Sometimes more.

BertieBotts · 17/02/2017 20:04

DS is in bed now. We're in Germany too. DH was at work until about 8pm today, he doesn't normally leave early on Fridays but doesn't normally get home this late. They had some kind of launch or project or something.

I do work but I wasn't working today.

When he got home he gave DS a trick pen which gives you an electric shock when you use it. DS thought that was hilarious. DH then asked him if he'd caught the new pokemon in pokemon go yet. Then we both bugged DS to brush his teeth and go to bed. DH went for a nap. I will probably cook dinner though I don't feel up to eating much as have been to dentist so he might sort himself something.

I did the dishwasher etc before he got home but he often does it.

Happy days really :)

Scotlass · 17/02/2017 20:04

Mine is stretched out on sofa with his eyes closed. To be fair he was up at 0530 for work, collected DS from school bus, emptied dishwasher, sorted washing and made the dinner. I came home from work and ate said dinner. I'm going to shower DS and sort him for bed then we can both relax in front of TV

I actually really like this thread! Look at all these posters with functional relationships with other, decent human beings. Give you hope for civilisation. Smile

Laniakea · 17/02/2017 20:20

he's just brought me a glass of wine Smile Since he's got in from work he's booked the oven cleaner, fed the animals & cleaned the litter tray, been out to buy wine, cooked fried egg sandwiches for everyone for dinner, arranged to help my dad with a job, done some painting with dd2, listened to ds1 read, replaced the batteries on the wii controllers, built a train track with ds2 & he's about to do teeth and bed x3 and then teach dd1 the baseline to a Gorillaz track.

He was up at 6am cleaning up feathers & entrails from a bird one of the cats brought in.

I have been busy too though!

Persephone70 · 17/02/2017 20:22

My DP is currently gaming online with my DS and DP's DS. I had my two DC and DP's DS today and they were desperate for him to play online with them - DP looks quite comical with a headset on 😂. I cooked dinner which we had at 1830hrs when DP got back from dropping DSS back home. I cook every night, DP works FT and I work 30hrs/week (mostly nights). I also do all the housework, except putting bins out. I know I have made a rod for my own back really, as I like everything done just so (and immediately), so not the easiest person to live with with! 😃 I am also very old-fashioned and find it difficult to hand over house work to my (male) DP. Horses for courses! 😉

Laniakea · 17/02/2017 20:28

the kids are making fuss about tooth brushing because we have the 'wrong' toothpaste so dh has given up & is hanging some pictures that have needed doing. I'm just drinking my wine.

operaha · 17/02/2017 20:30

Just driven us home from airport after mini break. Now gone to pick uphis kids and our takeaway and wine

StrawberryShortcake32 · 17/02/2017 20:31

He's shopping on his I pad. He helps alot with DS but he can't breastfeed him lol.
That's what I'm doing Grin

ineedwine99 · 17/02/2017 20:37

Sat on the sofa with wine chatting to his mum who is staying. He doesn't have a man cave Grin
Each day he gets in from work and plays with the baby, we both put her to bed, he does the bottle, we take it in turns to read a story. Once she's asleep we both prepare dinner.
Weekend we alternate feeds, he spends a lot of time with baby in between helping with house/garden work
