Yet another AIBU thread where there's no AIBU or YANBU at all, it's just a load of people being judgemental about things they don't understand. There's definitely a lack of understanding on this thread, but it's not from anyone who has criticised these 'parties'.
There may be unscrupulous people out there flogging olive oil for 1000% mark up or whatever, but if people are buying and enjoying it then clearly there's a market for it. Oh well, if people are queuing up to be conned into buying worthless rubbish in the belief that they're buying something special, then these businesses should crack on and make their money while they can.
Once upon a time people were scared of mobile phones! Are you seriously equating concerns over safety and technology with concerns about people being conned into buying worthless rubbish? I don't recall anyone being afraid that they'd be sold something that didn't actually make phone calls.
Times move on and not everything should always be viewed with suspicion. Just the things that are huge massive con tricks.
Maybe the OP just asked how pearl parties work in the wrong thread It's not a bun fight at all. I see a lot of sensible points being countered by two posters, one of whom works for a pearl popping party host, claiming that nobody understands and everyone is just too suspicious.
