To be ashamed of the Labour Party leadership

Long term member, did not support Corbyn, but even I am surprised by quite how bad he's been.

Where is the opposition? I get that Brexit is difficult, but where is Labour on the collapse of the NHS, the explosion of homelessness, the decimation of local council funding and the ticking bomb that is school funding?

Why is it that we now look to the Lords, the Cof E and petitions to be the opposition?

Shocking state of affairs.

I completely agree.

I was hopeful about Corbyn initially, then neutral and now I want him out. He's a bad leader (or his front bench wouldn't be such a revolving door!) and doing a woeful job controlling the conversation over key issues that labour should be all over. It's just a mess.

We need a decent opposition now. Not after another election is lost.

Sadly again labour only interested in agitating and not being electable.

Bloody disgraceful neglect of those who really need labour and they have willingly allowed ukip to steal their voters by their inBility to listen to their core supporters.

I feel sorry for the people of Stoke and Leigh (the former are having a by election, the latter will soon be having one). They have been badly let down by the Labour Party and into the void step fucking UKIP pedalling their deceitful promises. Corbyn just stands by and watches.

The media don't help. They are obsessed with fucking Trump and couldn't care less about the less fashionable parts of the UK.

I don't know how I would vote next time. Never felt like that before. At least after the Gulf War I could vote for an MP who had opposed it.

Yep. It's a disaster. He's put his personal political ambitions before allowing the country to have an effective opposition - just as Ed Miliband did before him. So there is no opposition. So the Tories can do whatever they like - for example their record on education is appalling but Labour don't mention it. Gove criminalised parents of uncontrollable children - did you know some parents have since been jailed because of their kids' truancy?! Gove badly damaged the content of primary education, drove many of the best teachers out of the profession (and don't get me started on how Gove accidentally abolished flexi-schooling, then reversed his position, confirmed that it was legal, then also told Heads to be unsupportive of it without any legal basis for that or any kind of consultation). May is apparently bringing back grammar schools, again without demand or consultation, because that's her personal agenda, and this year the government have been in Court arguing that it is a criminal offence for a parent to have a child with a single unauthorised absence from school - even just being a few minutes late. So now scarlet fever, nits, measles etc are all massively on the rise because of parents feeling scared to keep sick kids off as long as is really needed. None of that's a problem for the Tory private school brigade, of course. Incidentally I have no connection to the education system other than my child is about the start school and I'm seriously considering home education because the schooling system has been so damaged by this government. Well, fuck me, what a cock up global politics is at the moment.

I do have a connection with education and I am deeply, deeply worried. It's incredible really as the Tories have managed to fail on almost all their manifesto pledges, the Secretary of State for Health himself admits that the NHS is fucked, and Labour remains largely silent and ineffectual.

He isn't a leader. Shadow cabinet yes, just not at the top.

Corbyn isn't a leader, he's a career protestor. He has consistently voted against his own party. What his aim is, I don't know; he's destroyed the remnants of the labour party. He's a relic from a bygone age.

Corbyn has his some good principles and has his place but that is not as leader of the party that is supposed to be opposing and, at the very least, moderating the actions of the mob currently in power.

I've given up any hope of seeing the back of the tories for a couple of terms, at least. The western world, in general, is becoming horribly right leaning and intolerant, at the moment and the people we need to look to for balance (and a bit of fucking compassion) couldn't even push against a swing door effectively.

Yes, they are actually contributing to the lurch to the right through their incompetence, rather than suggesting alternatives. I feel for members of the PLP who know this as well as we do. What can they do? Shame they went for the leadership challenge too early. Now would be the time as all but the truest believers can see the disaster that JC is.

People are mistaking the fact he's a decent bloke who'd remember he owed you a drink in the pub and ignoring the fact he is a completely crap leader.

There was a female MP on the radio saying that when he was first made leader, she bumped into him in the corridors of the HoP and said she couldn't vote with him on a particular issue. He laughed and said, "Don't worry about it, I never voted with the party anyway." What kind of leader says that?! Why didn't he ask her for a few minutes and explain why it was important to vote with him?

Michael Foot was at least very intelligent. I've never been convinced Corbyn is.

He is awful. It's funny how people who were making such a noise about Corbyn being akin to the second coming have gone so quiet lately. I wish those people had stuck with the Greens or SWP instead of hijacking the Labour party leadership election last year. It's all well and good making a stand against warmand other Bad Things, but it's fuck all use if you can't get elected. In the meantime the NHS has gone to shit and huge groups of vulnerable people in this country are being shafted.

I was very hopeful about Corbyn but have been absolutely despairing for a long time now. He seems incompetent and I'm very concerned by what female Labour MPs have said about his lack of support when they had vile threats through Twitter. His response to anti semitism in the party was pathetic too.

Labour should be crucifying the Tories all day every day at the moment. I would love to see a change of leader but who the actual jeff is up to the job?

I agree. And that they are contributing to the lurch to the right and to a hard Brexit - incompetence, arrogance, muddled and outdated thinking and toxic tribal politics. I am clinging onto membership in the hope of a leadership election soon but am in despair. I don't actually want JC to be PM. I don't trust him. I would have voted for a decent anti-austerity candidate in 2015 but never thought he could lead the party, and thought his baggage would probably sink it.

Add the falling pound, Gary Lineker and JK Rowling to the list of the current opposition.

Hell's bells.

He is awful. I started off admiring his principles but he is no leader. I heard him on the radio the other day and he was so awful I had to turn it off. We have no credible opposition. I too have joined the Lib Dems but as much as I like Tim Farron he doesn't inspire huge confidence as a leader either.
