Sainsburys is posh, isn't it?

I mean it is toward the upper end of Poshness isn't it? Coming after Harrods food hall, Selfridge food hall, Booths, M&S, Waitrose then Sainsbury's.

Artisan shops and veg box deliveries probably come between M&S and Waitrose I reckon?

It's definitely posher than Tesco.

I don't know why I've done this op actually. I am so not unreasonable.

Bloody love Booths (linking it so it doesn't feel left out of the presumably paid sponsorship). We treat ourselves to a waft round there every month or so when we're feeling flush. Plus their Xmas catalogues are actually book-bound. They sometimes do free wine tastings

Our local Booths is so posh, I've seen a bunch of the local public school boys buying their lunchtime quinoa salad there.

BabyHamster · 05/02/2017 20:01

Sainsburys is posh. If you think it's not posh that means you're posh Grin

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 05/02/2017 20:01

I like this theme now.

Which one is UKIP? Certainly not Aldi or Lidl.

The80sweregreat · 05/02/2017 20:02

This Booths sounds like a mini Harrods!
I bet theCamerons have been in one or two..( or the Mays)
Quinoa salad, yum!

Bloodybridget · 05/02/2017 20:02

Posh-ish. I used to shop there all the time, but now I think it's too expensive.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 05/02/2017 20:03

Baby - come to the Sainsburys near me and tell them they're posh.

Pick your teeth up from the floor on your way out.

MarshaBrady · 05/02/2017 20:03

It's not posh, but a notch up from Tesco.

Bloodybridget · 05/02/2017 20:03

But I looove Booths! (on very infrequent occasional visits to Windermere).

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 05/02/2017 20:03

Overpriced and not posh imo

Frazzled2207 · 05/02/2017 20:03

We have all of them around here, Sainsbury's is definitely a bit more upmarket (and more expensive than Tesco. Waitrose is a significant step up from Sainsbury's in poshness.

Interestingly on a retail park near me there is an aldi next door to the m&s foodhall. It's quite common to nip into aldi for your basics then m&s for some posh treats.
So the clientele of the aldi is fairly posh, though the shop itself def isn't!

lavei · 05/02/2017 20:03

...what?

CheerfullyIndifferent · 05/02/2017 20:04

But who actually shops at M&S unless you live in a large town or city?

I do Blush We have a food hall only shop locally and I go there at least a couple of times a week. I'm as far from posh as you can get though

I am annoyed with Sainsburys now. They have projected this false impression that they have cut prices, but they have also adjusted size and weight of products as well. For example, 500g blocks of Sainsbury's brand cheese that were 2.50 are now sold as 400g of cheese for 2.30. I have moved my weekly shop away from them because just walking into that shop right now makes my crazy.

The80sweregreat · 05/02/2017 20:08

I have been to Harrods ' food hall' and marvelled at the cost ( and the bloody escalators are a pita)
Never bought anything though!
People tell me F and M is lush, but i take their word for it.
Food is pretty boring really.

KnittedBlanketHoles · 05/02/2017 20:08

Ha no, Saintsbury's is not posh in the slightest.

user1486250663 · 05/02/2017 20:09

All the pretend posh people by me (who protested to an Aldi being built as it would bring down the tone of the area) make me laugh. They are all grabbing a bargain in Aldi but put the stuff in Waitrose Carrier bags and run out the shop head down with dark sunglasses on. OK slight exaggeration with how they exit the shop. So maybe Aldi is an undercover poshie shop?

CloudsAway · 05/02/2017 20:10

Sainsbury's locals are definitely not posh. We have lots of them here, and they are staffed by fairly unfriendly people who don't seem at all interested in helping you, unlike Waitrose staff. They have mostly convenience stuff, and a really poor selection, even of sandwiches etc, but especially of fruit/veg. It's mostly wine and sweets and things like that. Not much bakery either - and no coffee. The self-service machines take much longer than the ones in Waitrose, because the ones in the Little Waitrose (here at least) only take cards, and don't bother weighing anything, so there is no bags, no weighing, no checking what you've put in, speedy check out - all on trust, always staff nearby to help, almost never any queues. I miss it since I moved away!

I think the big Sainsbury's might be better though.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 05/02/2017 20:10

Navy, if you refer to shopping as 'bits', especially in relation to M and S you are posh. I am now gleefully imagining what 'bits' you are picking up.

Hassled · 05/02/2017 20:10

I'd say Waitrose represents the Green Party. Possibly Lib Dem? M&S Tory. I don't think Tescos is Labour because wasn't there some treating their staff like shite scandal a few years ago (I may have made that up)? No idea who's UKIP.

tiredofhavingtothinkofnewnames · 05/02/2017 20:10

Waitrose is much posher than M&S

M&S is basically prepped ready meals. Waitrose has very nice food and wine options

I shop in both each week. Waitrose clientele is definitely much posher.

dairymilkmonster · 05/02/2017 20:11

Not posh.

m&s, waitrose
teso, sainsburys, morrisons
lidl, aldi

HoneyDragon · 05/02/2017 20:11

I do like the Co Op we have a swanky one and a falling apart one. And another one being built near my house.

Co Op is nice, but definitely not naice. And deffo above Budgens.

I can't believe I forgot Fortnums .... I reckon they trump Harrods.

HoneyDragon · 05/02/2017 20:12

M&S is my corner shop Grin

I used to work for Sainsburys.

They pissed on the floor regularly in some stores in SE London. Not at all posh.
