MN clique

I'm a regular poster, and have name changed for this.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a clique here? Some people's posts always get answered and they seem like a happy friendly little group. If you're 'new' or haven't posted that much, you pretty much get ignored.

I enjoy reading the posts, and I enjoy posting, but this 'exclusivity' is really getting to me. This is supposed to be a place people can come with their problems/jokes etc, and to feel like some people are 'left out' kinda defeats the object IMHO.

OP posts:

Also, on the back of notyodas post, can someone clear up how to pronounce erudite? I've been pronouncing it eh-you-dite but after watching divergent, they seem to pronounce it eh-you-die-tea.

If it's the latter, I've been making a tit out of myself whilst trying to sound clever.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/02/2017 15:55

Dog food

RedSauce · 05/02/2017 15:55

Never noticed it, no. I guess I'm not that involved in the place though. Not something worth worrying about in my opinion.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/02/2017 15:55

Pink and blue toys
Should of/have
How often do you change your pajamas?
How many washes do you do a week?
How many towels do you use per week?

Start one of the above and you'll be on 100+ replies before you know it!

Wonder

Oh thank God, I thought that one had been ignored. I was feeling a bit OP-ish about it

NotYoda · 05/02/2017 15:57

*Clash

air-you-dight. I think

It doesn't rhyme with Aphrodite, or Nike

MiddleClassProblem · 05/02/2017 15:57

I think the OP is ignoring all of us.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/02/2017 15:58

Sounds horrible, Yoda.

Could be spaghetti hoops or tinned tomatoes.

Ring pull rules out most Tesco value stuff I think.

noblegiraffe · 05/02/2017 15:58

If you want responses to a thread, you've got to get the punters in. Boringly titled threads, or threads in obscure sections will die a death.

Threads with titles such as MN Clique will do a roaring trade. The same thread titled 'I'm a bit annoyed' will not get as many responses as 'Bastard Sainsbury's ruined my child's birthday'.

Most comments on threads don't get a response, especially boring comments.

I think the OP is ignoring all of us.

Do you think she sent PM's to herself to arrange it?

NotYoda · 05/02/2017 15:59

Dame

See, I have a theory about a poster who is inconsistent in the use of "should of's" Sometimes someone will get everyone on board in the OP with an initial "should of", then slip into "should have" later on. Thus making me think they are trolling. I've seen it at least twice. Thus my theory is statistically sound

WorraLiberty · 05/02/2017 16:00

When my DS1 was little, I found him in the kitchen cupboard, quietly removing all the labels from the tins.

For the next 2 weeks, I had no idea whether I was about to open beans or dog food Confused

It made lunchtime interesting though Grin

DriveInSaturday · 05/02/2017 16:00

I lurk a lot but rarely post. When I do, there's a 50/50 chance it will kill the thread, although it has to be said that I take ages to write a post.

I've only ever started one thread on here, and it was in 30 days so I wasn't expecting many replies. I got about 40 very kind replies and it meant a lot to me to know that people who didn't know me took the time to respond.

So I don't think people just respond to posters they recognise.

atheistmantis · 05/02/2017 16:01

We can't tell you, it's a secret clique 😉

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2017 16:01

Parking threads are popular. I used to be quite curious but I think they have had their day now. There's only so many times people can say 'block them in' etc.

bigbuttons · 05/02/2017 16:02

It's far too big to be cliquey. In the old days it was far smaller and far more personable.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/02/2017 16:02

Yes they are just race to say penguin bollards these days

MiddleClassProblem · 05/02/2017 16:03

lolling at JustAnother

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 05/02/2017 16:03

I've not noticed a clique thing going on, been here about 5/6 years.

I don't name change as I'm possibly the dullest of posters and have nowt to get arsey about and don't fall out with anyone.

NotYoda · 05/02/2017 16:04

Drive

I agree. It's really really niece when people respond. I had such support on the litter tray

Maudlinmaud · 05/02/2017 16:04

Have a word with yourself if you are starting threads all the time, maybe multiple threads per day. People may have already answered and given you support on that particular issue, changing the title or your name, doesn't mean the responses will be different. It can look needy and indeed like you are perhaps a troll. Pms have nothing to do with.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/02/2017 16:05

Im really enjoying this thread, there's loads of posters I recognise on hereGrin

KatieScarlett · 05/02/2017 16:05

I only agree with posters I know and have known since it was fields around here.
The rest of you are dead to me.
As a MN philosophy, it works well due to my phenomenal memory for UN's and general lack of anything better to do.
Thanks for the PM calling me to arms!
Grin
not really
