AIBU?

Dp kicked out cat

Name changed. Massively identifying.

So, I had a cat before we got together. Now 7 years later, living together with a dc.

Cat is quite annoying in a cat way (around your legs for food etc) which is a bit of a pain but manageable. But, he's started being sick a lot after food which dp is sick of cleaning up (whoever spots it cleans it so I clean it up too) and of course not great for dc - although I use disinfectant etc.

Basically I'm sad about it. The cat flap has been taken away & the cat only comes indoors for food. He has the shed for shelter/warmth. I don't want to put up a fight because then I'll feel anxious if/when the cats sick and feel responsible for his anger. I am taking him to the vet so hopefully it'll stop the sickness but think dp is done now.

I just feel sad. AIBU?

Op you need to take a good hard look in the mirror. This is not acceptable.

If you are willing to continue acting like this, your first phone call needs to be a cat charity who can rehome your cat with someone responsible and caring.

Get a fucking grip, in other words.

Whoa would you look at that, the issue is resolved and she doesn't want to leave him.

Is OP still considering rehoming the cat?

Just to add, I think science plan does cat food, they do dog food, it's really good stuff if a bit more expensive. My cats seem fine on whiskas wet and dry so I'm no help there really.

Ok so people are now saying she is a bad cat owner? I would so love to be a fly on the wall, to these so called perfect posters 🙄

She's concerned it's gone on a bit more than usual in the last couple of weeks, hence booking an appointment with the vet. noted, but I still think if its not unusual for the cat to be sick, it otherwise appears well and is an out door cat then it will be OK in the shed.

We had an out door cat and he just wouldn't settle indoors come night time regardless of the weather. He has access to the shed with bedding and food and was fine for 19 years until he went blind.

Yes, she says it's resolved. It might or might not be. She'll make excuses for him anyway.

Vets can have quite long waits sometimes for appointments. However my experience has always been that it you are worried you can phone before for advice. I did this when No2 cat when through a weekend of vomiting and not eating. They didn't feel she needed seeing right there and then but said they would get me an appointment for the Monday morning if she was still unwell.. I phoned a couple of times over that weekend for advice but by the Monday she was much better and eating once again.

Some cats are just pukkey though...lIke No 1 cat here but we know it's wet food that does this so we avoid it.

Just 2 weeks is uncommon so getting it checked.

OP has decided this is out of the ordinary, so booked an appointment. Leave it to the vet.

Omg so now you are judging the op as a person, you know fuck all about her life, yet you want her to split up her family based on what YOU think, given that YOU know nothing about her of her life or her partner, you don't get a say. Don't start crying and huffing and getting moody because she won't do exactly what you are telling her too, do you forget this site is for advice, and not for you to dictate to a stranger on what to do with their life. You gave your advice that's you done.

Whilst I appreciate your pet advice & have acted upon it, I will not be taking advice to leave my partner, the father of my children, because a few posters have gotten angry at me & told me to. Is that not what you're telling me to leave him for, for being a bully?

I came on because I didn't know if my being upset was irrational, maybe I was too soft. It's nice to now I'm not & have stood my ground, he respects that and the cat has been napping on the sofa all morning. No sick today.

Glad everything is ok op, it's good to see issues worked through and resolved.

Lack of vomit is good. Old girl was much easier to groom after catnip! I would also stroke her then run brush over then stroke. Seemed to help.

For a large cat he's quite nippy! It's the claws you've got to watch out for Grin

kaelea 'so you still haven't answered...' sounds like badgering to me. I didn't go through the thread to check how many other times you posted.

You'd think the OP was ignoring the cat staggering about with his head hanging off the way some people are going on.

One of my mum's cats used to this. He would wolf his food down and throw it up barely chewed. She has him checked out, he has always been regularly wormed. Nothing wrong with him. He was just a gannet. What solved it was giving him 6 small meals instead of 3 normal size. My mum is home all day too so this was possible.

I used to have to trap girl cat in the smallest room of the house and kind of pin her down to groom! Gradually got her used to it. Wink

OP: Our 7 year old, outdoor cat has always been sick after eating. DP is fed up with cleaning the carpet so has put it in the shed and I have made a vets appointment.

MN: You are an irresponsible pet owner and your DP is a bully. LTB

I think it's likely he's got a furball but the vet will know. Have you thought of keeping him just in the kitchen (assuming that's where the cat flap is)? Easier to clean up cat vom on a hard floor and to watch what you're stepping in if it's just one room

ilovesooty · 05/02/2017 11:42

Kath the OP's posts have amounted to rather more than that but I imagine that neither you nor I will be changing our opinion as a result of what the other says

BorrowedHeart · 05/02/2017 11:42

Her Partner isn't a bully, most of the ones on this thread are though..

As I said BorrowedHeart you and I will have to agree to differ in terms of interpretation of what we've read. It really is the only civilised course of action.

Poor kitty. Get the cat flap back in. He's not an outside cat, he's cuddled up inside.

He naps in here but bloody loves being outdoors. His favourite hobby is bird chasing (and one stressful summer liked to bring them indoors, alive, to carry on the fun)
