I thought he came across rather well on Desert Island disks the other day, but AIBU to be glad that DB has been exposed?

I've always regarded the Beckhams as a textbook example of much that's wrong with our celeb-culture, accumulating vast wealth and renown on the coat-tails of very mediocre talent.

Now it seems the charitable work was all in aid of securing a knighthood.

I think there's a hell of a lot of jealousy and envy that a working class kid has made millions from kicking a ball amd some posters feel they are intellectually superior and even correct other people's grammar and would love to see this bloke 'brought down to size'

Unless you think 80% of people bought up in Chingford are stupid just because their dialect is 'ungrammatical'

So what? Doesn't magically make it grammatical does it? Any more than plenty of people saying "pacifically" instead of "specfically" makes that correct.

Correct grammar is objective; it's not a weight of numbers game.

I have to say though "I would of" is the very least of David Beckham's intellectual crimes. Viz:

"I definitely want Brooklyn to be christened, but I don't know into what religion yet"

Hmm Teachers of English know quite a bit about grammatically correct language.
Dialect is also part of the general remit.
Could of is an error and it is not due to any dialect; it is due to ignorance.

I know someone who works with him (not well), but they have said things like he loves the attention, definitely cheats on VB, and isn't as Mr Nice Guy as the brand makes out. Like I said don't know them well but they don't have much reason to lie.
