David Beckham's leaked emails

I thought he came across rather well on Desert Island disks the other day, but AIBU to be glad that DB has been exposed?

I've always regarded the Beckhams as a textbook example of much that's wrong with our celeb-culture, accumulating vast wealth and renown on the coat-tails of very mediocre talent.

Now it seems the charitable work was all in aid of securing a knighthood.

I find the Piers Morgan support for Katherine Jenkins particularly grating - talking about her as one of the nicest people in show biz when HE was the one who blackmailed her over the drugs story, to the effect that she could either have to go on his crappy programme and tell her version of Her Drugs Shame or if she wouldn't, he'd run the story his way in the Sun. She didn't volunteer to go on th eprogramme for fun!

MercyMyJewels · 04/02/2017 11:29

What makes you say that sooty? Grin

Megabeth · 04/02/2017 11:31

The bit about clawing back the cost of a flight from the charity is more damning in my opinion. He was travelling by private jet to a private trip alongside a charity engagement but still insisted on being reimbursed.

MercyMyJewels · 04/02/2017 11:31

noeffing

Also, don't shag someone that is not your wife

Embekkisson1 · 04/02/2017 11:32

Whose David Beckham giving he's pants away to? Praps he washes them before he gives them away

Funnyonion17 · 04/02/2017 11:35

It seems made up to me.

MiniCooperLover · 04/02/2017 11:36

If the messages have been hacked, it's just as likely they've been altered.

VioletRoar · 04/02/2017 11:38

I don't really get the uproar, no one is perfect. I'm sure if any of our lives were scrutinised the way his is being, we would come off looking just as shitty.

ArriettyClock1 · 04/02/2017 11:39

I bet they're mightily pissed off about this.

They are so controlling about their image and creating the illusion of being perfect.

haveacupoftea · 04/02/2017 11:41

violetroar has an excellent point. My whatsapp group with my best friends has me saying a lot more horrible things than David Beckhams emails Blush

TheNaze73 · 04/02/2017 11:45

I think we interpret stories like this based on perception. I like David Beckham & hope this isn't true. Had it been about someone I perceive as odious like Nigel Farage, I'm sure I'd have read it differently

southeastdweller · 04/02/2017 11:45

I can imagine the email's have been doctored but then again DB doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the box so wouldn't think twice about emailing his PR advisor stuff he'd have been wise not to.

Whatever the truth, if this story means he never gets an knighthood I'll be thrilled.

MercyMyJewels · 04/02/2017 11:53

He gives away his pants. Complete with skid marks? Ugh. Farty faithless twit

ForalltheSaints · 04/02/2017 11:58

cathf I refer to the paper concerned as the paper that supported the Blackshirts.

CaraAspen · 04/02/2017 12:00

Oh dear. He has slipped up a tad and shown the real him.

CaraAspen · 04/02/2017 12:03

"TheNaze73

Well, of course it's true. I think the hackers have done a good job.

SuburbanRhonda · 04/02/2017 12:04

I seriously doubt he washes his own pants, embekkisson.

KingMortificadosMistress · 04/02/2017 12:05

He Allegedly said...
Sources Claimed he...
He is Accused of...
As usual, all gossip, speculation, 'opinion' based on fk all.

This wording is for legal reasons. If it was truly based on "fuck all" the Daily Mail wouldn't have published it at all because they'd be sued and have to pay up mightily.

The reason for this wording is because (in legal terms) it is essentially a report of a report rather than the results of an original investigation within the control of the newspaper. In other words, before saying catagorically this was what the emails said (removing the word allegedly) they would need to have:

  • electronic copies of the originals.
  • electonic data indicating the routing path could be tracked to Beckham.
  • source material (probably corroborated) confirming these were written by Beckham
  • to have put each of the emails to Beckham for comment as to whether it was true or not.

It is very unlikely that where this is a third party leak a newspaper would have that level of certainty - so the lawyers will advise to express it in "allegedly" terms. It doesn't mean that it is a load of rubbish though, any more than wikileaks. All it means is that the newspaper consider it's strong enough to publish but not certain enough to say categorically "it's true."

MissMrsMsXX · 04/02/2017 12:08

I am not surprised if he is exposed to be a bitingly ambitious person, you don't make that much money without being a bit of an entitled arsehole. I also think he frequently cheats and has cheated on his wife.
That said I've no idea if these emails are true, it does seem that he took money for a flight from unicef though.

KingMortificadosMistress · 04/02/2017 12:08

I rarely agree with anything Piers Morgan says but on this I think he's spot on.

twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/827658893597736960

Beckham's alleged comments about Katherine Jenkins are particularly petulent and nasty.

lljkk · 04/02/2017 12:11

"If the messages have been hacked, it's just as likely they've been altered."

^That. Perfectly said.

areyoubeingserviced · 04/02/2017 12:12

I think that there is definitely an element of truth about it tbh.
I have said on previous occasions that I believe that he is angling for a knighthood.
So what if he is

areyoubeingserviced · 04/02/2017 12:18

However, let's remember that The DM don't like the Beckams. So it doesn't surprise me that they printed this story.

BossHogg · 04/02/2017 12:19

My DB's friend has had dealings with him
According to him- this is the tip of the iceberg he's been telling us for years that he's vile and someone was bound to turn on him.

"You don't know the half of it" comes up a lot.

No wonder his wife looks so miserable all the time.

BakeOffBiscuits · 04/02/2017 12:20

If they have been altered, why hasnt he called in their Lawyers?

Maybe it's the same reason that they didn't called in the lawyers when newspapers printed about his affairs?!

Its because they wouldnt stand a chance in court.
