David Beckham's leaked emails

I thought he came across rather well on Desert Island disks the other day, but AIBU to be glad that DB has been exposed?

I've always regarded the Beckhams as a textbook example of much that's wrong with our celeb-culture, accumulating vast wealth and renown on the coat-tails of very mediocre talent.

Now it seems the charitable work was all in aid of securing a knighthood.

It's such a contrast, isn't it, with George Michael, who turns out to have been quietly supporting lots of charities and individuals without ever seeking public recognition for it.

MercyMyJewels · 07/02/2017 13:15

Thanks Bill The mind boggles. Cunt

Yes I agree hack. He was never going to get public recognition what with his nocturnal mating habits as documented by the Sun. Poor George.

MissMrsMsXX · 07/02/2017 13:18

Let's give George Michael and posthumous knighthood... really piss of the DVB brand.

QueenofallIsee · 07/02/2017 13:21

At the risk of being seen as a sycophant, I would chuck in that he visited a hospice in my area a couple of years ago. A terminally ill child wanted to meet him. He came, he had 1 guy with him (he seemed to be like a PA), posed for pictures with the staff having spent 2 hours with the wee lad including eating lunch. It was not in the paper, it has never been reported anywhere as far as I know. He was heading down to London and basically did it on the way. It was a nice thing to do and having seen it I can tell you that kids mother was absolutely made up - he cannot possibly be anymore the villian than any of us and the emails don't make me think that he is a wholly bad guy. I will never forget that mothers face after the visit.

BillSykesDog · 07/02/2017 13:22

Wonder what the faces of those kids waiting for those UNICEF aid packages looked like?

DameVanillaSugar · 07/02/2017 13:25

Wonder what Posh's face is like today? Like a melted welly, I should imagine.

ihatethecold · 07/02/2017 13:25

It just gets more and more dodgy Hmm

limitedperiodonly · 07/02/2017 13:27

With all those tax twists they should set themselves up as a circus contortionist double act called the Bendy Beckhams.

MercyMyJewels · 07/02/2017 13:31

Can you imagine being the woman PR person for UNICEF? Bet she hit the wine every night, in a hummungus rant-fest when that shit was going on and she had to keep her mouth shut.

DameVanillaSugar · 07/02/2017 13:38

It brings new meaning to the film Bend it like Beckham GrinGrin

Twogoats · 07/02/2017 13:46

Eh? So has he had another affair or not?

Julia2016 · 07/02/2017 13:51

Apparently he has loads of affairs but there is no evidence so I'm inclined not to believe the half of that. I believe the Rebecca Loos story alright.

whitesklyer · 07/02/2017 14:03

Wow The Daily Fail is really going for the jugular with the Beckhams, I can't figure out what happened, for years they have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship now the Fail is acting like a jilted lover Hmm of course the whole thing could be a further attempt at the Brand to garner more publicity Confused but not like this surely?

Grammy78 · 07/02/2017 14:06

Maybe he sleeps with famous women who will keep quiet (unless they feel the need to 'deny' a 'rumour') or makes other women sign contracts saying they won't blab? He might have learned his lesson.

BillSykesDog · 07/02/2017 14:32

Grammy, that is indeed a rumour...

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 07/02/2017 14:33

They were going for jugular due to injunction. They did it with other stars with theirs. They can't print what they want so they do other bad publicity.

TheHiphopopotamus · 07/02/2017 14:36

makes other women sign contracts

I've heard it suggested that this might be the case. Also, I thought the Beckhams and the press has a bit of a symbiotic relationship. In exchange for not revealing some of the more seedier dealings of the B's, the B's would set up some kind of photo opportunity or give them a different, more favourable story instead (as do many slebs, to be fair).

Looks like the Beckham bubble has well and truly burst though Confused

11122aa · 07/02/2017 14:42

Intrestingly Victoria was given an honour this year. Tax not getting that much coverage. I imagine the press are. Investigating more..

Jennyfromthehood · 07/02/2017 14:47

Absolute rubbish dont believe it for one second

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 07/02/2017 14:52

It's such a contrast, isn't it, with George Michael, who turns out to have been quietly supporting lots of charities and individuals without ever seeking public recognition for it.

And that is true charity. "Charity" with conditions, purely to be seen to be "being charitable" is not.

I second the posthumous knighthood for George Michael. For services to charity of course Grin.

cowgirlsareforever · 07/02/2017 14:53

As I understand things, he denied having an affair with Rebecca Loos, but didn't sue the newspapers for libel?

grannytomine · 07/02/2017 14:59

About 15 years ago my kids were raising money for a disabled child. They wrote to various celebrities asking for an autograph to sell. The Beckhams sent 5 or six autographed photos and donated about £3,000, they bought an item the child needed. They were lovely to my kids, Victoria's parents chatted to them on the phone.

They didn't ask for any publicity and were by far the most generous celebrities, although my kids did appreciate all the other photos and memorability which raised another £1,500.

whitesklyer · 07/02/2017 15:14

Maybe the Brand were nicer people 15 years ago granny - They come across as entitled, media savvy, money grabbers these days Shock.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 07/02/2017 15:30

I'm sure at times they do offer their services without gaining something in return

But when doing you but for charity has become your main source of publicity while chasing a knighthood your occasional good deed is understandably overlooked

3luckystars · 07/02/2017 15:32

I would imagine his accounts are managed and he has very little to do with them at all. Plenty of celebrities have been scammed out of millions by their accountants, they probably haven't got a clue about most of what goes on.

I suppose a lot of us have money they could give to charity but don't either.
