David Beckham's leaked emails

I thought he came across rather well on Desert Island disks the other day, but AIBU to be glad that DB has been exposed?

I've always regarded the Beckhams as a textbook example of much that's wrong with our celeb-culture, accumulating vast wealth and renown on the coat-tails of very mediocre talent.

Now it seems the charitable work was all in aid of securing a knighthood.

worth a read.

Julia2016 · 07/02/2017 09:44

Anyone have any idea of what the content of the injunction is?

Blackpoolasy · 07/02/2017 09:52

I'm guessing if people start talking about the content of an injunction this thread will get zapped

Julia2016 · 07/02/2017 10:00

I know, I realised that after I posted. Must be something around about it given there isn't an injunction in the states.

3luckystars · 07/02/2017 10:24

Should we all pretend to be Americans so?

MissMrsMsXX · 07/02/2017 10:27

In the light of these revelations, which I believe to be true, it makes Desert Island Discs a much more interesting listen. I wasn't going to bother even though I routinely listen to DID, but he does keep on with the "i know I'm very fortunate" humble humble David, be more humble and "I love my charity work" it makes you look great David--

MissMrsMsXX · 07/02/2017 10:27

bugger.

ihatethecold · 07/02/2017 10:39

Interesting link missMrsMsX

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 07/02/2017 10:40

Not that humble if he set up a charity spin off with his own branding. What was wrong with working for and with UNICEF? Starting his own 7 charity just involves more trustees, more expenses and costs. It also takes away control of the funds from the projects that clearly need urgent access to money raised Confused

MissMrsMsXX · 07/02/2017 10:47

Yes, David setting up a charity in your own initials and shirt is definitely not a vanity project....

DID 'what do you love the most about what you do today"
DB "my Charity work is not a vanity project," now David be sure to say your charity work is not a vanity project

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 07/02/2017 11:04

The honest truth is that these injunctions always have leaks and if they wanted the story to go away fast they are best to let it come out fast and then in a few weeks it is 'yesterday's news'. By doing these injunctions they are just spoke about longer like the rest.

MercyMyJewels · 07/02/2017 11:29

Totally enjoying reading about DB calling everyone cunts. Grin. So edifying

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 07/02/2017 11:36

He really isn't the sharpest pencil in the pot, is he?

WallisofWindsor · 07/02/2017 12:02

Renewing marriage vows is a CURSE. 85% couples end up divorcing within two years. (Just thought to put my 2 cents in)

CaraAspen · 07/02/2017 12:09

That link is very interesting. He comes across as a pretty obnoxious individual who is wholly focussed on personal gain. How depressing that he should use Unicef in this way.

His image has been shattered by these allegations and there is no way back from this.

BillSykesDog · 07/02/2017 12:25

So basically UNICEF were saying that they needed the money he'd promised to send desperately needed aid packages to children in war zones and disaster areas who have literally nothing. And he sat on his free gold plated I-Mac and sent an email saying no because he needed another Rolls Royce/Rolex/Facelift.

What an utter cunt.

DameVanillaSugar · 07/02/2017 12:28

I think Princess Beatrice should give DB his knighthood in the same way that she gave James Blunt and Ed Sheeran theirs.

Julia2016 · 07/02/2017 12:31

His wife's carry on yesterday was farcical and I bet a lot of people are kicking themselves for thinking they are anything but a brand.

MercyMyJewels · 07/02/2017 12:36

Bill

Can you expand on what you were saying about her clothing brand being a loss making tax venture

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 07/02/2017 12:39

I remember how they were defended on here when one of the boys was earning 45k a day to model a rain mac. It's absolutely obscene money I don't earn that a year as most adults in the U.K. don't but apparently I was jealous and it had nothing to do with that I thought it was morally wrong Hmm

Their greed and desire to remain in the public eye has at last become their undoing are they still managed by Simon Fuller. No doubt they shall move to the states now

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 07/02/2017 12:41

I think the curse is that he put his willy in women who aren't his wife or that he dodges his tax or that is a mercenary moron.

BillSykesDog · 07/02/2017 12:48

Reading between the lines on this, it's highly likely DB is channelling his earnings through his wife's loss making business to avoid tax.

TulipsInAJug · 07/02/2017 12:58

Press gazette has reported that the injunction has been lifted. It was that HMRC had told the Honours Committee he was classified as 'red' (ie very dubious wrt tax) so should not get a knighthood.

I can't believe how obnoxious he's been revealed to be in those emails, invoicing Unicef £6000 for a flight he didn't even take! Setting up a charity but making it clear he didn't want to donate any of his own money.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 07/02/2017 13:00

I'd love him to get done for tax avoidance... alongside all the other celebrities who want us to think they are amazing while getting involved in dodgy schemes to avoid paying it.
