Furious: Girl Guides now admitting boys

Sorry for DM link but this is important. Brownies and Guides are going to admit boys if they identify as girls. Girls will have to share 'single sex' facilities including tents & changing rooms with them. Parents won't be told. Oh, and men who identify as women can become Brownie & Guide leaders, where they will get to supervise girls in those tents, changing rooms etc.

How is this possible? There is an epidemic of sexual abuse. We are still in the fall-out of Rotherham, Saville etc yet we are enabling men to have access to every safe space for girls. AIBU?

Very very very unlikely. Early transitioning MTTs are pretty much invariably androphilic (attracted to men).

The "male lesbians" (= attracted to women) are the late transitioners, the ones with wives and kids.

That's not to say that there are not potentially concerns about girls sharing rooms with male bodied people past adolescence. I would never share a hotel room with a gay male friend, no matter how 100% not-into-women he was. I would be unnerved and embarassed if I woke up and saw he had an erection, and I don't want "not-my-partner" guy smell in the room I am sleeping with. I think most women and girls feel like that.

Yes, I think historically you are right. I was still in the throes of outrage about Lila Perry and the poster whose daughter had to put up with a trans-girl groper.

However, as the number of teenagers identifying as trans proliferates and the motivations stray further and further away from the original criteria of gender dysphoria, i'm wondering if the sexual orientation profiling will change too.

But I totally agree, it's not just about the sexual element.

Not read all the replies, but - meh. Girls can join the Scouts now, so seems only fair to me that apparently boys can be admitted to the Guides.

Although what was wrong with the original keeping them separate is beyond me, and then we wouldn't have been having this debate in the first place.

That issue has already been addressed several times throughout the thread glitterazi.

Scouts and guides are two separate organisations. They are not affiliated with each other in anyway.

Scouts made the decision to accept girls because of falling numbers. It was purely a business decision and not part of some feminist conspiracy as some people like to claim. Guides on the other hand has never had a falling numbers problems therefore has never needed to accept boys.

Seriously why do people always lump guides and scouts together? They're nothing to do with each other.

And he is an ex scouting leader...and he didnt know about the falling numbers of scouts

Oh and first thing I saw on the news this morning? 'Gender discrimination' in the workplace when women are forced to wear heels and makeup. Except I bet they wouldn't force a trans person to wear makeup would they? Because what they really mean is 'sex discrimination'.

Only last year my firm ran what they apparently thought was a women's network event about 'makeup for success'. And I was too scared to complain at this shocking reinforcement of stereotypes in case I was 'managed out'.
