To expect DH to wear clothes for meals?

My dh thinks I am VERY unreasonable about this!

I cook every day for my family and all I ask in return is that we eat together at the kitchen table and that we wear clothes (as opposed to a dressing gown).

My husband likes to have a shower and put on his dressing gown (no pj's just dressing gown) and feels I'm VU in my requests that he not eat supper like that.

I don't expect people to wear anything fancy - just clothes as opposed to a gaping dressing gown.

I am cooking a roast tonight and he is in a strop because I asked him to wear clothes. I figure that if I put effort into cooking food he should make some effort back.

So MN AIBU?

The stick was like a cat toy with a feather on the end, that he encapsulated next to his own erm...stick with the bow tie, I think he thought it would make me gasp with delight, but it made me hoot with laughter

SleepingTiger · 08/01/2017 21:47

Well, it would be enough to put me off my 'pigs in blankets'.

m0therofdragons · 08/01/2017 21:47

If you have friends over then being dressed is a must but otherwise wear what you like. My parents are nudist (not when I'm there) so with that in mind I'd be grateful he's in a dressing gown.

Pregantat

Now I imagine DH's penis as this feathered thing in his own little carnival costume Shock

Why not buy him a onesie? Never wore one. But they seem comfortable and if zipped up cover everything...

Actualy motherofdragons my parents although not nudists would wander around in the buff when I was a child, I thought nothing of it. I wouldnt do the same as I hate my body and also may forget I was naked and answer the door..

CockacidalManiac · 08/01/2017 21:50

I'm thinking Austin Powers

lol, actually it was worse than that Horatio he named him Percy. I did wonder if he had a whole wardrobe of accessorys to dress him in

pregnantat50 · 08/01/2017 21:52

I spat my tea out then cock!

1horatio · 08/01/2017 21:53

Percy? Penis Percy? Not even the might sir percival? 😂😂😂

Violetcharlotte · 08/01/2017 21:54

I think yabu. I quite often eat dinner in my pjs.

m0therofdragons · 08/01/2017 21:55

With 3 young dc I'm just please to get everyone round the table at one time. To be fair, my dh always dresses before leaving the bedroom (which I find a bit odd as he wears pjs). If once in dressing gown dh isn't helping then that's a different matter but my dh does the washing up after I cook so I can't really call him lazy if he were to be in a dressing gown.

PunkrockerGirl · 08/01/2017 21:55

Yanbu. No way would I cook a meal for someone who couldn't be arsed to put some clothes on. The hot roast dinner would be served directly onto his gaping dressing gown bits every time until he got the message I'm afraid.

Artandco · 08/01/2017 21:57

Punk - but would you eat dinner cooked by someone in just boxers or pjs or dressing gown?

The worlds gone mad. Beaches and hotels are full of people in a bikini or speedos and people take no notice. Yet dare eat a crossient in underwear and it's horrific

pregnantat50 · 08/01/2017 22:05

Horatio my kids worked out who Percy was as he was always mentioned by my ex in conversations, almost as if he had his own personality and agenda...it was very weird, my kids took the p out of me (and him, behind his back) mercilessly afterwards. I wonder how many men, name their penis?

Pregnant

DH calls his Mr ....-.... (last name) Blush

Luckily never in bed!

CockacidalManiac · 08/01/2017 22:09

First thing my gf does when she comes to mine after work is to go and shower, and come down in her dressing gown (usually while I'm finishing off cooking dinner).
I'm glad to know that she feels relaxed enough to do that. I'm dreadfully proletarian though.

PunkrockerGirl · 08/01/2017 22:15

I don't frequent hotels that let people into the restaurant in bikinis and Speedos Art Grin
If dh is ill, of course I don't mind if he eats in his dressing gown, but even then I'd expect him to put some boxers on underneath. If he's well enough to get downstairs, he's well enough to show a bit of self respect and a bit of consideration for me.

pregnantat50 · 08/01/2017 22:16

First thing I do is whip my bra off through my blouse sleeves, that is the one bit of clothing that makes me uncomfortable

TuftyBum · 08/01/2017 22:17

YANBU. He can wear appropriate clothing without being uncomfortable.

1horatio · 08/01/2017 22:17

Shoes... off with them. And then I put comfortable clothes on.

Plus, I don't want DD to burp on my suit...

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 08/01/2017 22:35

Pants are a minimum requirement

SundialShadow · 08/01/2017 22:36

All it would take is one drop of hot gravy on his gaping bits and I am sure he would be cured of this habit.

job done

(Although not actually advocating scalding him - that would be BAD... but a little scare with cold gravy may bring home the bacon :)

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 08/01/2017 22:37

Bathsheba same with me.
