To say no to courier.

Amazon courier just asked to use the loo. I was alone in the house with a baby. I said no and immediately dropped a note to Amazon to say I wasn't impressed that it made me feel uncomfortable.

I feel a bit bad now...remind me that I did the right thing please?!

Just coming back to say that YABespeciallyU for casting yourself as the potentially "vulnerable" person in this scenario. You are a customer, in your own home, able to say yes or no as you please. The delivery person is the vulnerable one here, in a shit-wage job, very little opportunity or time to take toilet breaks, not in their own neighbourhood.

TheTrollinator · 08/01/2017 18:29

It's becoming a competition as to who can say the nastiest thing to the OP. Hmm.

-I'm also Hmm at all the comments saying that the OP must have too much time on her hands to worry about this. If you have time to faff around on Mumsnet then it's a bit rich being rude to the OP for having time on her hands 😂

iamavodkadrinker · 08/01/2017 18:29

And your subsequent posts come across as quite enjoying the fact you may have caused a man to lose his livelihood, and think it is in some way justified. Awful.

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:30

I agree Archery completely.
Odds are he will lose his (low-paying) job :((

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:31

I'm not using my time to lose someone their job though am I?
Key difference.

pipsqueak25 · 08/01/2017 18:32

no way would i have said yes, there are plenty of public loos around, but i wouldn't have complained unless he'd been bolshy as a result

Gwenhwyfar · 08/01/2017 18:33

How awful. Those people saying he could go to a supermarket. Yes, but he'd be late for his next delivery then wouldn't he. And then to complain about him to his employer so he might get into trouble just for being human and having a bladder! I'm glad the people I know in RL aren't as selfish as those on MN.

RacoonBandit · 08/01/2017 18:34

At least faffing on Mumsnet means I am not getting some poor soul the sack eh Troll

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:34

Yes Gwen quite
And plenty on here won't let workmen in their own house use the loo or make them a cup of tea. Lots of threads on that subject.
The modern world depresses me.

ShatnersBassoon · 08/01/2017 18:35

Supermarkets large enough to have customer toilets generally close at 4pm on Sundays anyway.

Foxysoxy01 · 08/01/2017 18:35

OP - I find it quite sad that you don't seem to actually believe you are in the wrong for emailing Amazon to complain Hmm
Your posts have just been you saying 'well I didn't want him to loose his job.....BUT or well Amazon shouldn't treat their employees like that.......BUT.
You fucked up emailing them it was mean.
Who you choose to allow in your own home is your business and tbh my toilet is upstairs in the back of the house and had he asked me, if I was alone I would probably have said no too (if I hadn't been alone of course I would've let him in) but the emailing Amazon Sad

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2017 18:35

Boundaries, if uou read the thread no one is objecting to her saying no to him using the toilet, what's being objected to strongly is her then formally complaining to Amazon he even asked and now she's also got her neighbour complaining too. Just in case her first complaint didn't work and get the poor bastard fired, which she knew was highly likely after reading this thread, she's still then went and got the neighbour in there at it too.

I'm with miss Keats, it's bothered me too. It's bad. I bet the poor guy wished he'd never knocked on her door.

Gwenhwyfar · 08/01/2017 18:37

" For all you know he wasn't even a real courier, he could have been a serial killer. "

Who'd killed the real courier to deliver the thing that OP had presumably ordered? Quite a long shot.

SocksRock · 08/01/2017 18:37

I would but our downstairs loo is right next to the front door so they would barely have to take two steps inside the house.

Boundaries · 08/01/2017 18:38

Gwen that's a Midsomer Murders plot if ever I heard one Grin

3perfectweemen · 08/01/2017 18:38

Your completly in your right to say no... to complain?? Very mean of you! Poor man must have been desperate for the loo to ask.

FudgeBiscuits · 08/01/2017 18:40

Jesh, he needed to pee.

I would have let the poor guy pee, you know how many deliveries they have to do? Jam packed all day poor gits.

Saying no because you're uncomfortable is fine, but complaining to amazon about it? That was a complete asshole move.

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:41

It's like a plot for Midsomer Murders now. As in it would never happen.

ohdofeckoffnowdear · 08/01/2017 18:42

It's up too you how you let in to use your toilet.

But complaining?? Wtf seriously! Some people complain over absolutely stupid things. Angry

Lynnm63 · 08/01/2017 18:43

Saying no was fair enough, tbh I'd have probably let him in without a thought, complaining was just mean. What did you think he was going to do? He was already at your door if he'd wanted to do you harm he could have as you'd already opened it.

Bettyspants · 08/01/2017 18:45

your decision as to letting him use the loo or not, emailing Amazon was not called for but you seem to realise that. The subsequent follow ups and scrutinising cctv is just weird . Most likely all very innocent on delivery drivers part but due to the complaints of someone over analysing it's pretty obvious his job will be on the line.

frauleinsallybowles · 08/01/2017 18:47

dont quote me on this and it maybe a complete urban myth but isnt there a law in scotland where if someone chaps your door to use the toilet you must let them??

Gwenhwyfar · 08/01/2017 18:50

"Saying no because you're uncomfortable is fine"

Is it? I'm not comfortable having strangers in my home, but sometimes I have to go out of my comfort zone e.g. if someone official comes to visit or the landlord sends someone round to fix or inspect something. It's just life, we can't be comfortable all the time.

How comfortable is the guy driving with a full bladder??

Boundaries · 08/01/2017 18:50

I just googled that frau and found this:

😂😂😂😂

HeadElf · 08/01/2017 18:51

OP reporting him was a really bad thing to do, he did nothing wrong.
It's clear from your post and your update that you're one of those who looks for things to complain about.
It's not too late to add a few things to your New Years resolutions, perhaps give up the witch hunting or find a new interest or hobby to invest your buckets of unfulfilled time into.
