To say no to courier.

Amazon courier just asked to use the loo. I was alone in the house with a baby. I said no and immediately dropped a note to Amazon to say I wasn't impressed that it made me feel uncomfortable.

I feel a bit bad now...remind me that I did the right thing please?!

OP posts:

I would have let him as I had a toilet downstairs next to the front door! But I can understand why you said no, contacting Amazon was a bit OTT IMO. That will probably get him in trouble...

Boundaries · 08/01/2017 18:12

Ok you're sounding like a weird delivery guy stalker a wee bit obsessed now OP.

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2017 18:12

I think it's much more likely he filled out the card incorrectly but my neighbour is going to look into with Amazon.

JacquesHammer · 08/01/2017 18:13

Looks like he came back for it per their cctv. He must have thought better of leaving it behind the gate. They can see him pull back up retrieve the parcel, then go to the house opposite - that's all they can see but presumably he knocked on me next

Well maybe he should be commended on ensuring the parcel was safe....

Trifleorbust · 08/01/2017 18:13

I wouldn't have let him in but do beat in mind that Amazon treats workers like shit so he probably can't take a proper break.

expatinscotland · 08/01/2017 18:14

Get a fucking life! Poor guy.

melj1213 · 08/01/2017 18:16

Christ, with the NDN also now looking into it with Amazon, if your first email didn't get him fired, this will.

Anyone would think you want the guy to lose his job at this rate!

Whosthemummynow · 08/01/2017 18:16

Who has this kind of time on their hands?! Jesus wept

Milklollies · 08/01/2017 18:17

OP I think you're living a life of Luxury compared to most people. Amazon couriers don't even get minimum wage and they get rid of people so fast. It's so horrid to complain but I think you represent a part of our society that really doesn't get how voting for tories is destroying people's lives. Yanbu to say no, yab humongously U to complain.

Ciaovenora · 08/01/2017 18:18

I made amazon aware as I thought it might prevent someone more vulnerable being put in the same position

The chap asked could he use your loo ,your reaction is so out of left field the probability is he might loose his job while doing his job. How fucked up is that.

Really! So, now Amazon should be reminding couriers employed by third parties they should be aware, some customers may be vulnerable!

Crazy is being polite.

1horatio · 08/01/2017 18:18

anan
Why do they care what the courier did? He delivered the package and was polite. That's no way to treat people that work for you. That's the easiest way to get them to spit in your soup... Hmm.
It's rude and should be beneath you. I hope the poor man still has his job.

I'm probably being quite rude now myself. But this sounds trashy and rude.

Nannewnannew · 08/01/2017 18:20

Gosh, what a storm in a teacup! Which has now escalated into something ridiculous! I really can't understand why you complained to Amazon just because you felt vulnerable with a child in your house and to be honest if you feel that scared, and vulnerable, then why are you going out after dark to deliver said parcel to your neighbour?! The ' bogus' courier driver could have been waiting in the bushes to carry out what he had planned to do earlier!! I just despair of people sometimes! And to pps who said that there are always public toilets or supermarkets nearby, well not where I live! The nearest loos are 7 miles away! Hope you or your child never get caught short!

MissVictoria · 08/01/2017 18:23

I'd really want to say yes, but i have severe OCD about toilets and germs and i'd worry he might spray/drip on the floor, i know some men are very careful but others don't give a toss even in their own homes.
To save myself the needing to go and inspect the floor and possibly need to clean up and bleach etc i would have said no, but i'd absolutely never in a million years report the poor guy. The use of a toilet should be a basic human right, and it's difficult for delivery drivers, especially who have targets and deadlines, and often have way more parcels than can feasibly be delivered in one shift to fit in toilet breaks.
A few years back i would have thought "He'll be able to hold it to find somewhere else" and not thought of it as a big deal, but after developing bladder nerve sensitivity issues, when i get the urge i get maybe a minute to get to a loo, regardless of i'm standing or sitting. It's made me so much more aware of other peoples comfort, and if the guy looked genuinely desperate my guilt might have even overridden my OCD to let him go then resign myself to a deep clean of the floor/seat even though it would have the knock on effect of me having to take an immediate shower (takes 45 mins).

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:23

Christ. This is one of the worst things I've ever read on here.
Complete lack of compassion from the op.
Nasty doesn't even cover it. I'm know starting to understand an article I read about homeless people being spat on and abused on the street.
Some people really are that dreadful and uncaring.

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:24

*now
Sorry typing in a fury

harderandharder2breathe · 08/01/2017 18:24

Jeez OP you and your neighbour both need to get a life

Boundaries · 08/01/2017 18:25

mrsk really?

What would your reaction be to an OP saying "I let a complete stranger in to my house and he stole my purse whilst he was upstairs"?

The OP might have been OTT to complain to Amazon but some of the replies on this thread are ridiculously OTT too.

Boundaries · 08/01/2017 18:26

although I have lost faith inthe OP after the peculiar updates

DaysLikeThis1 · 08/01/2017 18:27

I think if the driver could read op's posts he'd be thanking his lucky stars he didn't get invited in to use her facilities, what a world of pain he might have found himself in!

Megatherium · 08/01/2017 18:28

If it's not unreasonable of him to ask - why would they dismiss him??

Because you complained. Obviously.

Mrskeats · 08/01/2017 18:28

Yes really.
To complain to Amazon was awful and a complete overreaction.
Op should be ashamed of herself.
Theft is hardly likely given he would be so easy to trace.
