To severely dislike Robbie Williams?

GerardNoWay · 31/12/2016 23:44

OH has insisted on watching BBC in the run up to midnight.

I cannot stand Robbie Williams. I think he puts on a horrendously arrogant front, to the point of coming across as disingenuous. Deep down I think he's quite insecure.

There is just something about him that grates on me no end! I don't dislike his music, just find him irritating and fake.

paradisecity that is exactly what I thought. I also found his performance awkward and embarrassing to watch.

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 01/01/2017 11:00

Yeah i did point out I realise that song is addressed to his kids but it still comes off as him bragging! Also bit weird anyway does anyone go around telling people "I love my life! I am wonderful!" And so on. Why is a complete lack of modesty something to aspire to?Confused

It's not weird for him to say he wants his children to be able to say they love their lives after the demons he's suffered with in the past. He doesn't want that for them.

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 01/01/2017 11:05

Who does TheFairy?? But most people don't put that sentiment in a crappy sappy pop song where he gets to sing "I am wonderful" and dress it up as hopes for his children.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/01/2017 11:10

Most people aren't in his position are they?

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 01/01/2017 11:15

Thankfully not. I don't even know why he's in his position as his singing is terrible!

Roussette · 01/01/2017 11:15

I can't find any redeeming things about him at all.

Irritating face but I suppose he can't help that.

Godawful voice
Smug
Cheeky chappy persona which gets on my ample tits
And now an irritating wife too

The only good thing about the pair of them is that they keep their children from the Press, long may that continue.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 01/01/2017 11:33

no talent, no charisma, and looks like a male stripper gone to seed. can't stand him

^This

How has he fluked his post Take That career for so long ? I wouldn't have minded going to see him in the past but I understand it's Robbie Williams Karaoke hosted by Robbie Williams which people pay a lot of money for tickets.

I lost interest in him after, 'Millennium' I found myself trying to like him. What the hell was, 'rude box' all about ?

I got the cd with the song, 'candy' on it but I found myself trying to like him rather than actually liking him. I wonder if that song is a dig at Gerry Halliwell ? They ended up hating each other apparently.

His face just looks weird, creepy and harsh. What he's really got these days is marketing. That's all.

BeetlebumShesAGun · 01/01/2017 11:35

Knowing his persona and if you know some of his lyrics, I wouldn't be surprised if the anti bac thing was a joke that didn't come out right. One of his songs has a line where he talks about washing his hands after meeting fans... I think it is intended to be ironic but because he genuinely has a massive ego it doesn't come across right.

I am a fan but I do concur he is coming across a bit cringey this comeback. However he is riddled with MH problems. He has had eating disorders, OCD, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, stage fright, addictions and so forth, so I think a lot of his big personality is a coping mechanism. And he must be on a lot of medication which could be the reason for appearing high.

TwinkleTwinkleLittleBat · 01/01/2017 11:41

Blimey, steady on..Robbie's taken a hell of a bashing on here Sad

Lilaclily · 01/01/2017 11:42

I like him

I thought Knebworth was great

Then he went into himself after that as he was so famous he couldn't cope, I read his book Real u think it was called

Lilaclily · 01/01/2017 11:44

It was called Feel

specialsubject · 01/01/2017 11:46

Robbie really should lay off the botox at only 42, and a trip to tatoo fixers wouldn't go amiss either. The audience seemed to be mostly the hysterical take that fans 20 years on.as for those dancers and the badly fitting knickers - is it the 1970s?

Clearly the light bulb had gone in chaka khans dressing room as well. At least she can still sing.

worcestersauce29 · 01/01/2017 11:47

and he's just given up smoking again.

He seems to be a marmite kind of person, love him or hate him...nothing inbetween.

I'm a lover not a hater.

He's a good bloke, knows that he doesn't have the best voice in the world and has never proclaimed to have.

so yes YABU ;) ;)

Middleoftheroad · 01/01/2017 11:50

Can somebody explain what the intro was about?

Knobbie was talking about still being here and that we should enjoy him while he's still here (or something equally narcissitic that he probably feels is ironic but comes across as arrogant). Putting himself in the category of Bowie Prince and George etc.

Was that an existing song or something specifically written for him for the NYE cabaret show on the back of the death of legends in 2016?

Does he really liken himself to musical royalty or was he trying to be funny because he's a 'cheeky chappy' ?

Wanker.

That1950sMum · 01/01/2017 11:50

Can't believe all the haters!

I bloody love him!

Lol

worcestersauce29 · 01/01/2017 11:57

The lyrics are from an existing song Middleoftheroad 'Heavy Entertainment Show'

pooh2 · 01/01/2017 11:57

YANBU he's a smug little prick! I especially dislike how he

  1. made a music video of people competing to do a tribute competition to him
  2. had an album cover of him being every member of a football team. He is such a narcissist!!
GilMartin · 01/01/2017 12:04

Reminds me of the school bully all that swagger and posturing

To me he reminds me of someone who was bullied at school and when they find success as an adult thinks 'right: the boot's in the other foot now' and takes on the worst characteristics of his former tourmentors

DodoRevival · 01/01/2017 12:05

eFairyCaravan:. It's not weird for him to say he wants his children to be able to say they love their lives after the demons he's suffered with in the past. He doesn't want that for them.

Might be a better idea to inform them what cocaine can do to a person's mental health then; using these 'demons' as an example.

Was the whole Robbie wants to be James Bond thing real?! I thought it was a joke!!!

I too can't grasp why he's popular. Reading some (well the very few) explanations on here it seems that his fans think they know 'the real him'.

Barefootcontessa84 · 01/01/2017 12:07

YANBU. Last night he also looked totally high and behaved bizarrely.

TheHiphopopotamus · 01/01/2017 12:07

Can't stand him. Some of the things he's said about women over the years have been awful. How an untalented club singer like him managed to sell out Knebworth is one of life's unsolved mystery.

Also, he kept calling Melvin Odoom Marvin last night Confused

WeAllHaveWings · 01/01/2017 12:11

Loved him and his music 10-14 years ago, went to a couple of concerts and he was a brilliant entertainer when he was younger. Never the best singer, but good songs.

His boldness and apparent over confidence worked well then, but it doesn't work well now he is older as he seems arrogant and his music isn't quite as good. Wouldn't go as far as saying I hate him or attack his, or any other artists personality, just wouldn't buy his new music. Still occasionally listen to his older stuff.
