To severely dislike Robbie Williams?

GerardNoWay · 31/12/2016 23:44

OH has insisted on watching BBC in the run up to midnight.

I cannot stand Robbie Williams. I think he puts on a horrendously arrogant front, to the point of coming across as disingenuous. Deep down I think he's quite insecure.

There is just something about him that grates on me no end! I don't dislike his music, just find him irritating and fake.

never liked him. he's like the irritating loud guy at the works night out. "I,m mad me" Could never understand the fawning over him when he left take that, makes my skin crawl

Rinmybell · 01/01/2017 09:10

Gutted I missed this post last night, really wanted too discuss with someone!
I'm not convinced he wasn't coked up.
Also, the story about Teddy holding her umbrella with her privates made me feel really uncomfortable.
As did the strange rubbing of him bum crack whilst bending over.

galaxygirl45 · 01/01/2017 09:25

I do have some of his early stuff on CD, but he's completely lost his appeal now and just comes across as arrogrant, needy and too aware of his own celebrity. His wife is equally loathsome. Sadly I can't see his star fading anytime soon...............

Laiste · 01/01/2017 09:30

So the first 'moment' of '17 is RW with the anti-bac. Fabulous. Very funny Grin

Roussette · 01/01/2017 09:30

Perhaps he has threadworms? Grin

Breathe yeah you're probs right on his wife, she is very irritating too!

Middleoftheroad · 01/01/2017 09:36

I thought it was the 1970s when a fully dressed male presenter -flanked (Hello! phrase ) by women in bikinis and feathers? - introduced Knobbie.

Cringe BBC.

MsJuniper · 01/01/2017 09:50

No problem with the autocue, it's not like he tried to hide it and it's a big gig with songs from a long time ago which should have stayed there

No real problem with the antibac gel - can well believe he suffers OCD and its not uncommon for celebs to use - but maybe he should have tried to control his face or choreographed a focus elsewhere so he could turn away to do it.

Even a few dodgy notes could be forgiven but the whole thing seemed superficial and phoned in.

The dancing girls and the vagina anecdote were actively offensive though. It felt like everyone was waiting for a punchline or that it had been a misunderstanding but... no.

trixymalixy · 01/01/2017 09:57

I can't stand him. I can't even bear to look at him, he's a total arrogant creep.

I once saw him live at a festival and he didn't bloody well sing anything. Just held his mic out for the audience to sing.

ParadiseCity · 01/01/2017 10:09

I couldn't believe it's 2017 and so here we have: a guy onstage with women in skimpy bikinis. DD was disgusted too.

amispartacus · 01/01/2017 10:16

That's what I told DS as well. Was very surprised.

maybeshesawomble · 01/01/2017 10:18

It was a car crash from the minute those dancers were greeted by the presenter with something like 'looking lovely ladies'. Rapidly down hill and we switched over when he undid his trousers (WTF?).

Turned back over for the fireworks and saw his interview - surely he was on something? We missed the antibac but is it possible he was trying to be funny?

Some incredible talent on Jools Holland though!

hollyisalovelyname · 01/01/2017 10:18

The autocue
The chewing gum
The eyes.
I kept thinking he'd drop the mic as he kept flipping it out of his hand- but he caught it every time.
I missed the anti bac, or rather wondered what he was doing with a small bottle of something.
Still I do like Angels Smile

limitedperiodonly · 01/01/2017 10:36

Sorry if someone has already posted this but I wanted to add my hatred of Robbie Williams

Off to read the rest of the comments now

HappyLittleCloud · 01/01/2017 10:37

If it's an OCD issue then surely the best thing would be to refrain from touching audience members at all? It's not mandatory. Whipping out the antibac while pulling that 'ew' face is really off. But heck, I wouldn't want to touch a performer who'd just been rubbing his own bum crack.

ihatetosay · 01/01/2017 10:39

He is fantastic why be such a bitch if you dont like him just watch something else or go to bed

limitedperiodonly · 01/01/2017 10:40

Geri Halliwell anti bacced her hands after shaking mine at a charity do. She said nothing, just held out her hand for her assistant to squirt on the gel.

She was friends with Robbie once, wasn't she?

HollyJollyDillydolly · 01/01/2017 10:42

I was laughing at him pulling faces and dousing himself in antibacterial gel after he touched the audiences hands during auld lang syne.

Thingvellir · 01/01/2017 10:46

I can't really blame him for the anti-bac if he's genuinely has OCD, but DH and I were pretty convinced he was off his head (the mad chewing, mad eyes and kept rubbing at his nose). We switched off at the New York, New York part - I mean, wtf was that about Hmm

Enjoyed hearing Angels again, but he wasn't really singing it, just saying the lines for the audience to sing it....I still remember all the lyrics anyway!

Roussette · 01/01/2017 10:47

How bloody rude. Just wear gloves if you feel that dirty after shaking hands with the great unclean that is the general public

ihatetosay are you robbie?! Just watching something else is a bit tricky when it's BBC1 and NYE... there isn't much else on so if he puts himself up there to entertain the crowds, he and you can jolly well put up with criticism

Apparently he wants a chat show with his wife... there's talks going on. God help us

sj257 · 01/01/2017 10:48

Oh I love him, I know he can be a knob but I still love him!

GerardNoWay · 01/01/2017 10:48

We switched off after the fireworks. Couldn't stand any more of his posturing.

I actually don't think he's on anything; I think he just massively overcompensates for his insecurity by acting that way. I suppose it must be easier for him to handle that way?

Either way, he definitely wouldn't be my choice for NYE entertainment.

GeillisTheWitch · 01/01/2017 10:49

She's quite irritating herself! They are definitely well matched

^This. The only more annoying couple than them now that Brangelina is no more are Tom and Giovanna Fletcher. Feck off Smuggy McSmugfaces.

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 01/01/2017 10:50

Also his latest song is cringeworthy. I know it's meant to be written to his child etc but honestly it just sounds like him singing about how great he thinks he is. "I am wonderful! I am beautiful! I am magical!" Etc. Bet he doesn't need an autocue for those lines basically just his inner monologue probably.

limitedperiodonly · 01/01/2017 10:55

Apparently he wants a chat show with his wife

That doesn't surprise me. He thinks he's talented. Remember when the deluded git made music videos like Millennium that were naked auditions to be James Bond? That was my peak Robbie hatred. These days I can mostly ignore him.

yellowstarlight · 01/01/2017 10:57

I do think he gets the audience to sing too much of his songs, but...

You know the "I love my life" song is about what he hopes his kids will be able to say? He wants them to grow up and be in a position where they can say the chorus, about their own lives.

So YABU to say he's smug because of that song Grin
