To severely dislike Robbie Williams?

GerardNoWay · 31/12/2016 23:44

OH has insisted on watching BBC in the run up to midnight.

I cannot stand Robbie Williams. I think he puts on a horrendously arrogant front, to the point of coming across as disingenuous. Deep down I think he's quite insecure.

There is just something about him that grates on me no end! I don't dislike his music, just find him irritating and fake.

Can't stand him

HiDBandSIL · 01/01/2017 19:18

And "Angels" is possibly the worst song ever and definitely the most over played.

puglife1 · 01/01/2017 19:35

He's a show off dickhead. Can't stand the sight of him.

Vapours · 01/01/2017 22:41

14:22. Fuzzy custard Thanks for the post, very interesting. Strange how everyone completely ignored you and just carried on dissing?

StarsandSparkles · 01/01/2017 22:43

I had recorded it last night on sky as bbc scotland is my bbc channel but i deleted it this morning after reading this thread 😂

noeffingidea · 01/01/2017 23:14

Just watched his version of Freedom. Complete shite. Just sums him up really.
To the person who asked, yes Mariah was shit as well. Due to, ahem, 'technical difficulties'.
Still you can't really blame either of them for taking the money.

noeffingidea · 01/01/2017 23:17

Vapours no it's not really strange at all. While it's nice to hear of a celebrity supporting a charity it doesn't really prove anything (sadly). You can probably thank Jimmy Savile for that.

TheHiphopopotamus · 01/01/2017 23:21

I agree noeffingidea

Doing something for charity doesn't make him any less of a misogynistic arsehole either.

Vapours · 01/01/2017 23:28

But it is worth a mention now and again, particularly to the people who have been helped.

noeffingidea · 01/01/2017 23:36

Thats fine, vapours. But it's not enough to balance against the strong sense of dislike that many people do have for him.
He may well be a 'lovely bloke' in real life - anything is possible. We're just not picking that vibe up from his public persona. This is someone who has been a public figure from the early 90's.

TinselTwins · 01/01/2017 23:43

When celebs are addicted to being adored, sometimes charity stuff is done for selfish reasons - it's a quick hit of adoration and gratitude. Still good for the charity, but when they turn up in person being all bountiful (and I don't mean the ones who regularly actually work hands on with charities) it's a bit grim when desperate people are grovelling at their feet and salivating over them and they're loving it - even if they did it away from the press

The celebs who are genuine either get ain aide to help donate anonymously, or else help in a way that's not all about them getting grovelling thanks in person

Vapours · 01/01/2017 23:46

I'm not particularly keen either but I didn't like the charity work post being completely ignored.

TinselTwins · 01/01/2017 23:48

It wasn't ignored. It just didn't do anything to dispel my feelings about him: self obsessed misogynous, who speaks about others as if they only exist to adore him or to fuck him.

TinselTwins · 01/01/2017 23:51

Also there are many ways to do kind things for a childrens charity if you're rich that don't involve turning up in person to be adored.

Vapours · 01/01/2017 23:54

Maybe he does that as well, we don't know do we?

mumofthemonsters808 · 01/01/2017 23:56

I can't stand him.

TinselTwins · 01/01/2017 23:56

No, but you're wrong that the children's charity post was ignored, it wasn't, I read it as sounding like behaviour very in line with what I already think of him: an egomaniac.

e1y1 · 01/01/2017 23:59

YANBU, we also had this on last night, and he aggravated the shit out of me the entire time.

I too don't profess to know why, but he just severely irritates me.

Vapours · 02/01/2017 00:01

Tell that to the children that he helped then.

TinselTwins · 02/01/2017 00:03

Vapours one deed that benefits others (and gives you an ego boost in the process) does not an all round good guy make!

The way he speaks about women is vile, a bit of charity work doesn't cancel that out.

EyeSaidTheFly · 02/01/2017 00:08

He's repulsive. He's got a face of a thousand STDs. His new song is awful - sounds like a poor Gary Barlow pastiche. He told Emma Thompson that he'd 'do' her on the Graham Norton show. She looked politely disgusted.

Vapours · 02/01/2017 00:08

Tinsel, I get what you're saying but still think that charity post was worth a few mentions.

PerspicaciaTick · 02/01/2017 00:23

8yo DS: Why are those women in their bra and pants? I think it's inappropriate (tries out new word - gets it spot on).

Me: I don't know. Can you think of a reason?

13yo DD: Because he's a misogynist (not to be outdone by younger brother on the new word front).

Best bit of bonding we've had all Christmas Xmas Grin, courtesy of Robbie and his dancing bondage squad.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 02/01/2017 00:27

I love your kids Tick

foxyloxy78 · 02/01/2017 00:45

The anti bac on the hands was just too funny! Grin
