Does anyone actually use body lotion?

I've got the usual Christmas smelly sets from in laws, grandparents and one from a friend. They're all lovely and I appreciate them as presents as I do use the contents....but never the body lotion.

This means I end up with drawers full of the things, because I have all good intentions of slathering myself with the stuff after every shower, but I can just never be bothered.

Am I the only one who wishes they'd just put two shower gels in there instead?

I use it when I can remember / can be arsed.
I often put lavender drops in my bath. It does work in making me feel relaxed - so relaxed that putting pjs on alone is a huge bloody effort!

It does make my skin feel much nicer when I remember to use it with any frequency. I used to like palms coco butter but have discovered that E45 lotion is fantastic and all I ever need.
If I can be arsed to actually put it on of course.

I have found that creams make no differences at all to bloody cellulite!
If anyone has found a miracle cream I would love to hear about it.

The only difference I have found in my thigh cellulite - is if I drink loads of water, keep off the booze and sugar and eat non processed foods. It makes a huge difference, but as I can only manage this on a health kick (and then cave in) it doesn't last long.

If anyone knows of any miracle body lotions please share..

Prefer body oil, much more effective.

MrsBlennerhassett · 27/12/2016 03:24

sometimes three times a day as i have eczema and very dry skin generally especially on my legs and upper arms.
Cant use very cheap stuff tho because it brings me out in a rash so sometimes i do just have to give bath sets to the charity shop straight away at christmas if it looks like it came from the pound shop or a supermarket brand etc... i have tried to use them before and my skin came out in massive blisters so now i dont dare!
I go through a couple of large body shop tubs of body lotion in a month so if i do ever get sent any good body lotion as a present i am actually over the moon!!

Topseyt · 27/12/2016 03:44

Never.

In fact, although I do act graciously and appreciatively whenever I have had toiletries as gifts, I cringe a little inwardly. They are just not my thing. I have no interest in them and they mostly sit unused although I would never tell the giver that.

I'll use anything but much prefer the expensive rich ones. I usually have about 4-6 on the go at any one time and I use whatever I'm in the mood for that day. Sometimes I use matching shower gel/body lotions (currently Lemon, ginger and bergamot Liz Earle one or, another nice one is White Co lemon orange and verbena). A pricey one can smell all day... I'm excited by a Nuxe lotion with botanical oils I had for Christmas from bf, it smells lovely on my hands, shall use it today!

I keep travel tubes of body lotion in the car and my handbag just in case I want some when out and about!

Dowser · 27/12/2016 09:37

No
I'm really concerned about nasty chemicals going into my skin.

hollyisalovelyname · 27/12/2016 10:25

Topseyt why not donate them to a charity shop instead of them sitting forlornly in a bathroom cabinet or drawer ?
Win win situation then.

ninnypoo · 27/12/2016 10:26

Once in a blue moon. I have a massive box filled with toiletries from last Christmas I haven't used yet, don't know if all the new ones from this year will fit.

Topseyt · 27/12/2016 11:22

That has happened before, Holly. Smile

notrocketscience · 27/12/2016 11:25

Talking of some of the chemicals...

Good grief we have enough nanny state telling us what to do without worrying about body lotion, I'm old and it hasn't affected me yet, I use it very liberally and think I'll survive its use! The only effect will be smooth skin Xmas Smile

When I was skint I used to put baby lotion into a big pump tub and use it as a cleanser and body lotion. It was really great for both jobs, I still use baby lotion today to remove make up and cleanse my face. If I had a bath or shower and didn't moisturize afterwards I'd feel dry and itchy, if I'm pushed for time then maybe I'll run some baby oil over myself whist still wet. Ive moisturized my body since I was about 16 and I've had a skincare routine for just as long.

JemimaMuddledUp · 28/12/2016 09:06

I use it every day. I swim several times a week and take a bottle in my gym bag as if I didn't moisturise afterwards my skin would be really itchy and flaky. I don't find it takes a long time to sink in, I usually moisturise then wrap the towel back around myself and dry my hair. By the time I've dried my hair it has sunk in and I can get dressed.

MrsGB2015 · 28/12/2016 09:07

Everyday!

Lovelybangers · 28/12/2016 09:17

Only in summer of legs/arms are exposed.

I don't like to rub cream on my body as I can feel the fat bits. Prefer to dry off then cover up again quickly

JemimaMuddledUp · 28/12/2016 09:19

And I'm enjoying a gift set this Christmas which had shower gel, body lotion and body spray in the same FCUK fragrance. Also have a handwash and hand cream from the same range. I usually use unperfumed body lotion but I'm enjoying the way that layering the different products is making the scent last all day.

GetAHaircutCarl · 28/12/2016 09:19

I use it after every bath/shower.

Plop loads on while still wet.

myfavouritecolourispurple · 28/12/2016 09:40

I prefer shower gels too but do use body lotion - not every day - usually after shaving - and if my skin itches a bit after getting out of the shower, which it can do.

That said, I have keratitis pelaris (spelling?) on my upper arms and find that any body lotion really helps, it's nowhere near as bad as it was in my 20s when I never used anything.

Those of you who don't use it, google Give and Make Up and send it to them.

Keletubbie · 28/12/2016 09:44

All this dry brown skin... I'd look reptilian without it.

hooliodancer · 28/12/2016 09:47

If I don't use it my skin feels awful, really tight.

I thought most pepole used it! I don't have dry skin and I really couldn't do without it.

I agree it's a bore though.

BusterGonad · 28/12/2016 10:08

A different but similar subject, I've just bought some hand cream with urea in and I've been putting it on my feet at night for a week and it's amazing! My feet were rough as hell and now they feel quite soft and look lovely, well as lovely as feet can! 😂

formerbabe · 28/12/2016 10:11

I never use body lotion...the feeling on it makes me want to vomit. Plus I can't bear the idea of putting clothes on greasy skin...yuk. I moisturise my face and neck...that's it.

JustHavinABreak · 28/12/2016 10:42

Every year I promise myself I'll get my shit together and get a proper beauty routine in place including body lotion to prevent my usual lizardy self! This year I mean it!
