Does anyone actually use body lotion?

I've got the usual Christmas smelly sets from in laws, grandparents and one from a friend. They're all lovely and I appreciate them as presents as I do use the contents....but never the body lotion.

This means I end up with drawers full of the things, because I have all good intentions of slathering myself with the stuff after every shower, but I can just never be bothered.

Am I the only one who wishes they'd just put two shower gels in there instead?

I don't use any of it.
People long ago stopped buying me toiletry sets because I don't use them at all (apart from bath salts, which are rarely included these days) - until this Christmas when I got a 3 pack of shower gel, body lotion and I don't know what the other one is.

I'll find someone else to give them to, I've no use for them :(

Every day. My skin itches and burns without it.
I can't use anything that comes in a set though - my skin is too sensitive. My favourite is Aveeno lotion (made of oats); it's relatively expensive though. I can also use E45 and aqueous cream. Nothing else though or I would have an awful reaction.

To all those who dont use it, please send ot to a shelter or refuge. I hate the thought of so much body lotion being binned.

SENPARENT · 28/12/2016 22:02

My skin would be dry and flaky if I didn't moisturise it regularly as we live in a hard water area.
I use Sanctuary Spa body butter or lotion every day. I love it so if anybody wants to send me some feel free! It's not greasy and sinks in within minutes and leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft.

I get through tons of body lotion, use it twice a day. I like my skin to feel moisturised and soft. There is no way I could get out of a bath or shower and not use it, it's just part of my routine. It also makes an amazing difference to stretch marks IMO.

No.

Crichards78 · 28/12/2016 22:38

Use it every day, love the stuff!

Beardsareweird · 28/12/2016 22:44

I hate the perfumed body lotions too, and only use Double Base for my dry skin. I just give the unopened body lotions to the local charity shop.

ArcheryAnnie · 28/12/2016 23:29

I always end up with too many unused body lotions from gift sets, so occasionally I collect them up and donate them to the local homeless shelter. It sounds odd, but if you live outdoors your hands can get very cracked and painful, so having a tube of nice cream to use on your hands isn't as weird as it sounds.

Foxsox · 28/12/2016 23:36

No!!!
I would rather 2 shower gels in a set than a useless body lotion.
I've got the soap and glory set and I don't need all the creams. JUST BUY THE GELS PEOPLE!!!!!!

1horatio · 29/12/2016 00:02

focx

I don't use shower gel. I use shower oil. The gel is too drying...

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/12/2016 00:17

Morning and night - have done since I was a teenager. I was aghast when a colleague said she never did, especially as she's a swimmer, but I now realise she is not alone!

perfumedlife · 29/12/2016 01:48

I loved a Vichy Body lotion in my twenties (thirty year ago!) but since the fragrance changed I've done without. Clarins in a gift set will get used, eventually. But generally my skin remains silky soft without it. Epsom salt baths are a marvel.

Only in the winter when my skin gets very dry or after shaving my legs. Otherwise the only parts that gets moisturised every day are my face and hands.

I don't like heavily scented body lotions or body butters so even if I did moisturise more frequently they'd be no use from gift sets.

PinxTheTinxMinx · 29/12/2016 08:18

I use it everyday too, I also love getting it as a prezzie. Send it all my way if you like Xmas Wink

Zhabr · 29/12/2016 08:38

I do every day after the shower. My skin is very dry, especially on my legs and especially in winter.

Catsize · 29/12/2016 08:43

Every day. Feel like my skin is going to fall off otherwise. Aveeno is the best for me.

girlandboy · 29/12/2016 09:03

No I never use it.
I can't stand getting out of the bath or shower feeling all nice and clean and then coating myself in another substance. I'd need another shower. And I don't have dry skin so I don't feel the need even at my advanced menopausal age of 50.

I can't help thinking that some people are in a vicious circle of having 2 showers a day (which will dry out your skin) and then replenishing the lost moisture with lotion?
