Does anyone actually use body lotion?

I've got the usual Christmas smelly sets from in laws, grandparents and one from a friend. They're all lovely and I appreciate them as presents as I do use the contents....but never the body lotion.

This means I end up with drawers full of the things, because I have all good intentions of slathering myself with the stuff after every shower, but I can just never be bothered.

Am I the only one who wishes they'd just put two shower gels in there instead?

No I never use it.
I can't stand getting out of the bath or shower feeling all nice and clean and then coating myself in another substance. I'd need another shower. And I don't have dry skin so I don't feel the need even at my advanced menopausal age of 50.

I can't help thinking that some people are in a vicious circle of having 2 showers a day (which will dry out your skin) and then replenishing the lost moisture with lotion?

Well! I got an error message after my post, but I never guessed that would happen! Confused

I'm quite happy to get shower gel or bubble bath always gets used. I have drawers full of body lotion and butter. Also hand cream I never use. Or foot stuff I don't have dry feet so no need for foot cream thankyou

More so in the summer but occasionally in the winter. I have keratosis pilaris though and I find that moisturising really helps but nothing works better on it than coconut oil (for me at least).

Why not donate your drawerfuls of hand cream, body lotion and foot cream to a charity shop?
You get more space and they get more money.
No point in cluttering up your home with stuff you don't want/ need.

Charity shops are funny about taking things like that incase its been opened. I did some time in one and an awful lot gets thrown away.

hollyisalovelyname · 29/12/2016 16:53

But if they are sealed????

ArcheryAnnie · 31/12/2016 19:46

holly a charity shop won't take them (or will, but will then throw them away), but many homeless charities do take unused, full, new toiletries to distribute directly to clients. Eg Connections at Trafalgar Square accepts shower gel, etc, as long as it's unused.

I use body lotion a lot, not on my whole body but on my lower legs, arms (elbows) and under my breasts. Otherwise arms and legs tend to itch, especially in when it's cold.

Nope - I think they have a bad effect in your skin in the long run. My only skin "ritual" is my weekly bath (with a book and a glass of wine) with loads of epsom salts and bath oil - just lying in the bath is the moisturizing process itself. Highly recommend, oh and I never exfoliate my body either. I've never had any peeling skin issue etc... so I'm pretty sure that's another unnecessary thing that we are "supposed" to be doing...

I love it! Every time I have a bath I use lotion or body butter
