Does anyone actually use body lotion?

I've got the usual Christmas smelly sets from in laws, grandparents and one from a friend. They're all lovely and I appreciate them as presents as I do use the contents....but never the body lotion.

This means I end up with drawers full of the things, because I have all good intentions of slathering myself with the stuff after every shower, but I can just never be bothered.

Am I the only one who wishes they'd just put two shower gels in there instead?

I love gift sets, but the body lotion is a total waste which is a shame. Love the bath bubbles, shower gel, bath bombs. Body lotion is a total waste.

Just wait until you reach 50 you'll need it

I'm over 70, the need must have passed me by.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 25/12/2016 20:42

It's one of those things I try and do when "princessing".
But no, I hate it. I only do it when I'm putting clean PJs straight on.
Can't understand someone who would put clothes on top then go out.

But my lower legs are dry these days so may have to.
Concerned my legs won't be able to do without it then though.

MrsCharlieD · 25/12/2016 20:42

I use body lotion daily although only a specific one which is the Palmers cocoa butter lotion. I get dry and tight feeling skin otherwise. I really am surprised so many people don't bother!

newventurermum · 25/12/2016 20:43

I use it every day, I have to have lotion. I wonder if I have friends like you ladies who will gift me theirs

Totally this!!!!! Smile

BillyShingles · 25/12/2016 20:53

I have some Sanctuary body mousse stuff which smells amazing but I only remember about once a month.

If you have a drawerful, take them to the supermarket and put them in the foodbank donation trolley. Free up a drawer. Or just bin the stuff, it's no worse than leaving them to fester for years and then binning them when they've gone off. I love smellies but I can't bear cupboards rammed full of random bits I can never navigate or remember.

spankhurst · 25/12/2016 20:57

I didn't use it for decades but in my 40s my skin appreciates a good slather a couple of times a week. I keep pump dispenser ones like Molton Brown near sinks as hand lotion.

smurfest · 25/12/2016 20:59

Yes - I use it on my feet and legs most days to stop them getting too dry. Rarely have to actually buy the stuff though, as get it as part of gift sets and it tends to last.

Ledkr · 25/12/2016 20:59

I do use it but I like the ones with a bit of tan in or a really rich body butter, not the thin lotions you get in sets that are a waste of time and effort.

Philoslothy · 25/12/2016 21:08

Every day, often twice a day

Philoslothy · 25/12/2016 21:09

I do tend to use an oil or body butter rather than a lotion though

OliviaBensonOnAGoodDay · 25/12/2016 21:10

I do, I'd be dry as a crisp otherwise. It doesn't take long to get into the habit of slapping some on after your shower.

dementedma · 25/12/2016 21:13

Yes, after a bath.

SangtheSun · 25/12/2016 21:13

Every day my whole adult life. Which is quite a few years. Favourites are palmers cocoa butter and aveeno.
I have skin like silk! Just a bit too much of itWink

BlurryFace · 25/12/2016 21:17

Yes, if I'm given some (I like to feel that I've got use out of gifts, and they usually smell nice). I don't really need it though, just loads of hand cream and occasionally some moisturizer.

hollyisalovelyname · 25/12/2016 21:17

Yes I use it every day

hollyisalovelyname · 25/12/2016 21:20

Donate unopened bottles to charity shop or a Woman's Refuge.

chocolatespiders · 25/12/2016 21:20

Wolpertinger. Do you recommend a particular SLS free shower gel?

Wifflewaffles · 25/12/2016 21:22

No, cba with it, and I don't like the sticky tacky feeling. I do need sun lotion and after sun in the summer, as I burn easily. I also sometimes treat myself to palmers cocoa butter body oil. It smells lovely, and is easily absorbed, or you can just put some in the bath.

I never use the lotions, and I can't stand the body butters. I tend to give them away.

Yoarchie · 25/12/2016 21:24

Never use the stuff. Sil likes it, I send it all to her.

sj257 · 25/12/2016 21:25

No never.

dovesong · 25/12/2016 21:27

I use it multiple times a day. I have dry skin and I like the smell of a nice lotion.

EatenTooMuchPasta · 25/12/2016 21:28

This year we collected all the spare lotions and potions in at work along with any donations from the 'regifting drawers' and set up a raffle last week with all proceeds going to a local hospice. We raised £140.00! We're hoping to do something similar next year...

Narnian · 25/12/2016 21:29

I've used it daily since I was 12. It's as normal to me as moisturising my face. I can really feel the difference if I haven't used it for a day.

I've never had a stretch mark either but that that could just be genetics!

madmother1 · 25/12/2016 21:30

I put it away and use it instead of after sun on holidays.
