To think it's shit I feel pressurised to wear a bra?

Sitting watching telly, and I can feel the constriction of me wearing a bra. I have small boobs, why do I have to sit here wearing a bra? Why can't I go about my daily business bra free - without being judged!

If you don't have big boobs just wear a vest top with minimal support in it.

someonestolemynick · 03/12/2016 23:51

Honestly, I think the only person pressuring you is... you.
I wear a bra because I have big breasts and it's generally more comfortable to wear one.
Why would you wear a bra if you're more comfortable without?
Rebell a little, it's fun.

BabyGanoush · 03/12/2016 23:52

I wear very loose fitting bras

MN bra fitters would have a fit! Wink

I wear a 34 (32 fits easily but I like my bras loose) and a C cup with the shoulder bits as loose as possible

When I run they fall out of my bra Grin but I rarely run so that is ok!

PhilODox · 03/12/2016 23:56

Really, you don't need to wear one.
I have a relative that has a small chest, and she doesnt wear bras at all. Sometimes she wears a breast, but not all the time.

Bambambini · 03/12/2016 23:57

It's not that it's majorly uncomfortable. But I can feel it, but don't need it. Yes I could go without and I do when it suits me and I know it's not noticeable,

I still think ordinary women who go braless - at work, in the gym, in the pub - if it's noticible it will attract comment and possibly ridicule. There is pressure to conform.

Who will judge you? Unless someone shouts out in a shop "OhmyGod, you're not wearing a bra, you shameless hussy!" then how would you even known what they're thinking?

WankingMonkey · 04/12/2016 00:00

I wouldnt wear one if I had small perky boobs. As it happens, 2 kids later..I could polish the floor with my nipples. Sad times.

someonestolemynick · 04/12/2016 00:03

There will always be idiots who take issue if you do things outside the norm. That's not society that's idiots trying to make themselves feel better.

Of course they shouldn't do it, but plenty of people will do anyway. They pick on bras, body shapes, clothing, taste, body hair. You can try pleasing them, or you can do whatever works for you.

PhilODox · 04/12/2016 00:05

Oops. Obviously I meant vest, above! Freudian slip Blush
I think you should wear something at the gym to protect your breast tissue, but that could easily be a crop too. I never look at what others wear at the gym.

user1477282676 · 04/12/2016 00:08

Stop feeling pressurised then. I have never worn a bra. I'm small of bust but I do have SOME.

I wear vest tops...close fitting enough to stop nipple-poke but not nearly tight enough to hurt.

If people don't like my free moving breasts, then they can look away.

SausageSoda · 04/12/2016 00:09

If you don't need a bra don't wear one then. I need a bra for daytime as it feels more comfortable and less painful when I wear one. Each to their own. It feels as if you're trying to create an issue for the sake of it. You've yet to state who has judged you and what judgey comments have been made when you haven't worn a bra?

user1477282676 · 04/12/2016 00:09

And if people comment...I don't care. Nobody has said anything to me and I'm 44. Oh...my sister said once "I think you should wear a bra..." and I said, "No. I won't." and that was that.

Bambambini · 04/12/2016 00:15

So folk think women won't be noticed, judged, talked about, ridiculed by some if they go braless? What if you have big breasts where it will be obviously more noticeable - but want to go braless?

OP posts:
SausageSoda · 04/12/2016 00:19

Many women with larger breasts don't want to go bra less though OP as it provides more comfortable support to wear one. Why would I want to swing free just to try and prove a point when it's more comfortable to wear a bra and my clothes look better with one?

You still haven't stated when you've been judged.

robinia · 04/12/2016 00:20

Why would it be noticed? Are all your tops see-through?

Fwiw, my breasts are just average size but I would be uncomfortable without a bra. So I always wear one except in bed.

MyKingdomForBrie · 04/12/2016 00:20

Who the fuck are all these 'folk' (god that word irritates me)

I wear a bra because the feel of my nipples swinging against fabric is horribly uncomfortable. I don't think for a second about any 'folk' when making my clothing choices. Seriously, grow up and be yourself.

PNGirl · 04/12/2016 00:32

It depends - if you mean it will be "noticed" only because they're jiggling about then yes, that's probably when it is up to the owner of the boobs and nothing to do with others, but under a pale and tight top when you could see your nipples then I think something should go underneath.

Personally as an E cup mine would hurt during the day without a bra, especially when working out - to the point where I couldn't exercise any more.

JenLindleyShitMom · 04/12/2016 00:33

So what actually happens to you if people judge you? Do you have to go live in exile or can you just get on with your day as normal? Pretty sure I'm being judged for things I have no idea about. It really doesn't take up much of my time.

It generally helps with holding some of the weight and stopping sweat rashes in larger sized ladies to wear a bra.

I work with lots of women and lots of them actually don't wear bras. I have never noticed and myself and co workers could not care less.

LagunaBubbles · 04/12/2016 00:37

Why bring big breasted into it if this has to do with yourself though? Confused

DrFoxtrot · 04/12/2016 00:37

I agree with robinia and brie just do what makes you happy.

I am an average sized C cup and would feel uncomfortable without a bra for the same reasons, nipples rubbing against fabric. I don't notice my bra when its on and I've never felt the need for the 'relief' of taking it off in the evening. Maybe you need the sizing checking if it's that uncomfortable?

LagunaBubbles · 04/12/2016 00:38

And people have asked you a few times for examples of who the ridicule and pressure is coming from.

JenLindleyShitMom · 04/12/2016 00:39

Did you just call us dumbfucks? Are you drunk?

Maverickismywingman · 04/12/2016 00:39

So you're saying society gets judgey at women for not wearing bras?

Ok.
Can't say it doesn't happen. But change doesn't happen overnight.

Yes. Expectation is to wear a bra in public but I just reckon we shouldn't be staring close enough to other people's breasts.
