... well it's been a busy last weekend making sure everything's perfect for the official start of Christmas in 4 days, Grin, but the tree' now up and decorated, last minute presents wrapped, cards written and ready to be posted, chest freezers all full to the brim with festive goodies, Christmas bedding on, food order done, my 6 secret santas sorted! I can now relax with mulled wine in front of the fire and my DH can get his DW back! - Each year it gets more manic but this year's been worse than I can remember despite it feeling like it's taken over my life since the kids went back in September!

"Never knew Christmas bedding was a thing until I came on MN!"

Neither did I, nor did I know anything about Christmas Eve hampers and Christmas pyjamas either.

Bananabread123 · 28/11/2016 21:04

They do them at Asda! Thanks hun, you just saved my life Smile.

Anyway, feeling better knowing I'll have these to wear to the office when they arrive next week.... Stacey from accounts shit herself with jealousy... can't believe the cheapskate actually wore her Christmas jumper two years running! Wouldn't put it past her to wear it again... i suppose they do stretch in the wash though!

Yes all the Christmas Eve hamper stuff-I was very WTF. The bedding I think i had seen some but didn't think anyone seriously bought it.
Elf on the Shelf is bizarre.

I've actually already celebrated Christmas....we just love it so much we do it in november Grin

PlumsGalore · 28/11/2016 21:18

Sorry but I have done everything too, presents been all wrapped for two weeks, with the exception of Christmas bedding (gross) I am the same as OP. Yes, I do take my stuff down (the day after) Boxing Day.

Bananabread123 · 28/11/2016 21:20

Way to go Flowers! Doing Christmas is December is really quite tardy... just try harder!

Yeah, had never heard of Christmas Eve hamper and don't actually know anyone who does them! They seem to have to have "hot choc". Dunno why, you can have a mug of cocoa any night!

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2016 21:29

Apparently you have to drink your cocoa on Christmas Eve whilst wearing brand new pyjamas Confused

ClareN1980 · 28/11/2016 21:29

I can't tell if you're joking. A Christmas tree should not be up until December.

PortiaCastis · 28/11/2016 21:33

Well I've done fuck all because it's still November, the old mans done a runner and I'm skint.

HemanOrSheRa · 28/11/2016 21:42

Hahaha! They are actually selling those Santa toilet seat covers in B&M usual. I saw them last week and sniggered to myself thinking 'These will go down well on MN'. What could be more festive that a felt santa bog seat cover Confused?

NicknameUsed · 28/11/2016 21:44

We sound like a right load of old scrooges. I just prefer to celebrate Christmas at Christmas, not over a period of 6 weeks.

Guitargirl · 28/11/2016 21:50

'We sound like a right load of old scrooges'

NOOOOO, I love Christmas, I do. I was lured on to this thread on false pretences as I thought the OP was real still do-.

Am going to return my own kind on the Christmas boards. Xmas Grin (usual - it's tartan, gwan, you know you want to)

Freshprincess · 28/11/2016 21:59

I've eaten the first week of DS's advent calendar

MimsyFluff · 28/11/2016 22:58

I opened the huge tin of quality streets last night Grin

CheshireChat · 28/11/2016 23:02

I thought we were doing really well because we bought the 4 bird roast from Lidl and DS's main present! I had to do the bloody shop alone with a baby on Christmas Eve last year due to not getting paid in time to do anything else so I'd like to be more organised this year. With no car and having to rely on buses... Not fun.

I also want to prep and freeze some of the side dishes in about 2-3 weeks time.

Also, if you buy online you have to buy early in some cases so we'll do that sooner rather than later and then I won't have to figure things out at the last minute.

CheshireChat · 28/11/2016 23:03

But otherwise... It's November!!

Poppypoochischristmascrackered · 29/11/2016 08:23

Christmas bedding, damn I knew I forgot something Xmas Grin shuffles of to google that

OOAOML · 29/11/2016 10:29

Apparently you have to drink your cocoa on Christmas Eve whilst wearing brand new pyjamas I like to wash pyjamas before wearing them so they don't have that 'shop fabric' feel.

Actually, I have sorted more Christmas organisation. I bought two bottles of M&S Clementine Cream because it is half price and much cheaper than Bailey's Orange Truffle (and I still lament the fact that Baileys are no longer doing chocolate mint which was amazing). I have even selflessly opened one to check that it is nice to drink.

ReallyNotMyProblem · 29/11/2016 10:43

I have all of the presents finished and wrapped, BUT we aren't buying for other people this year, have 3dc and a Christmas birthday to sort out and I like wrapping things

GinAndOnIt · 29/11/2016 12:53

Don't get me started on Christmas Eve boxes. I've seen someone selling them online to locals only, but 'will have to branch out to UK-wide next year as she's had so many requests!' - I may be blinded by the fact she irritates me anyway with her smug parenting, but still.

I just...don't get them. They seem to be filled with the kind of stuff you might use to fill a stocking. So then you've gotta think up more things for the stocking the day after? I try, really try, to be all 'each to their own', but it's hard when it's shoved down your neck everywhere!

Floggingmolly · 29/11/2016 13:13

I don't get hot chocolate as a special, magical Christmas Eve treat. It's sold all year round, don't people buy it any other time?
