... well it's been a busy last weekend making sure everything's perfect for the official start of Christmas in 4 days, Grin, but the tree' now up and decorated, last minute presents wrapped, cards written and ready to be posted, chest freezers all full to the brim with festive goodies, Christmas bedding on, food order done, my 6 secret santas sorted! I can now relax with mulled wine in front of the fire and my DH can get his DW back! - Each year it gets more manic but this year's been worse than I can remember despite it feeling like it's taken over my life since the kids went back in September!

OP was joking Parma.

MsJamieFraser · 27/11/2016 22:17

Best its not my bedrooms I've only got the duvets (however do have lights going over our bed frames) Grin

MadisonAvenue · 27/11/2016 22:17

I wrote out the cards last night, but that was only because I was waiting for an Amazon delivery and was bored.

Guitargirl · 27/11/2016 22:18

Come on OP - where's the courage of your Christmas convictions? You want to be all done by Dec 1st? Then, yep, you sit in front of your fire drinking Bailey's with your Christmas slippers in your Christmas onesie. Don't pretend you were kidding all along 🎄🎄🎄.

ThePoloHole · 27/11/2016 22:19

It's November.

There is a graph going around facebook which shows a chav indicator level plotted along with when your tree goes up....this is the red zone OP.

Other indicators may be: xmas bedding, visiting a garden store Santa in November and any kind of tinsel.

Just saying like Wink

FannyWincham · 27/11/2016 22:21

Decorations always down on Boxing Day

I know that this is satire (and like all good examples I really wasn't quite sure at first...) but this attitude is so very prevalent and I find it rather sad. 25 Dec is the FIRST day of Christmas.

Christmas Day can't help but be an anticlimax if you've been building up to it for 4-6 weeks.

OldRosesDoomed · 27/11/2016 22:22

Mrs Jamie I'd love a Christmas duvet just for the look on DH's face. You've a word missing above your bed. F.U. - you know the rest. How I'd love to market a house with that instead -just for the elf-- Grin

Guitargirl · 27/11/2016 22:23

Am pretty high on the chavometer then. No tree yet, or tinsel. But I have been to the garden centre, Christmas bedding ready for Dec 1st and our elves are doing their stretching exercises for their festive activities.

cariboo · 27/11/2016 22:24

First Sunday of advent today. Usually I would have an advent wreath and the first candle would be lit this evening but I haven't even got that far this year. So nothing. Zip.

Guitargirl · 27/11/2016 22:24

Oh, haven't been to see Santa at the garden centre, mind, just the decorations. Do I get fewer chav points for that? Damn.

NicknameUsed · 27/11/2016 22:27

"I agree, Christmas does drag on"

It's bound to do if you start it so early.

sarahC40 · 27/11/2016 22:28

Um, well some presents have been bought and shoved in random cupboards where I will forget them until I've panicked and bought more, but more importantly, the annual argument of who's going where has really kicked off: one third of family are sulking; one third are upset; and one third are thinking of emigrating or staying in bed until it all goes away. :-)

BeMorePanda · 27/11/2016 22:28

most of my effort goes into NOT buying stuff and NOT getting caught up and stressed out by Xmas.

I make an effort to focus on doing Xmas things together - seeing the lights, visiting Santa, going to panto, decorating gingerbread houses etc, watching the Xmas films (we like Elf and Grinch), going to the school things, killing elves.

I'll buy the DC a few gifts but they really don't want to need too much as we've all watched so I'm holding back on the tat.

Decorations will go up in a couple of weeks.

The rest of it can fuck off as far as Im concerned.

BeMorePanda · 27/11/2016 22:30

I'll make a list this week.

Check it twice the next week.

I did buy both DD's a book ........ Shock

BeMorePanda · 27/11/2016 22:31

Oh crap I need to find the advent calendar thing this week
don't I?

Cagliostro · 27/11/2016 22:40

Premature Chrijaculation :o genius

Bananabread123 · 27/11/2016 22:40

Christmas has started 'early' in the shops for many years, but my issue now is that the build up seems more intense such that Christmas events in November are common (I know someone who visited Santa in Harrods a fortnight ago!) with it seeming to reach a peak by the 2nd week of December, leading to people often being a sick of it by the day itself.

OP posts:
cottencandy55 · 27/11/2016 22:46

I'm very organized got the tree up most of the Xmas presents wrapped got a few still to get but not even thought about the food yet we would just eat it all if I got it this early.

Cagliostro · 27/11/2016 22:48

I do the shopping part throughout the year for various reasons (particularly pleased I have this year as we may have to sort out moving house very soon, so one less thing to think about). Nothing else though.

Oh except getting my carols piano books out, that happens when the clocks change :o

Bananabread123 · 27/11/2016 22:50

not even thought about the food yetShock
Reminded me of a thread on here a good fortnight ago where the OP panicked because she wondered if she was too late to order from M&S.

You've put Christmas bedding on? Don't quite get the concept of Christmas bedding at all, but does this mean you won't be changing the sheets again til 6th Jan?? I would need lots of mulled wine to keep me happy on 2 month old sheets.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/11/2016 22:55

Slightly off topic but wtaf are pillow spiders?!!!!

And why on earth wouldn't op wash the bedding? If she tumble dries it can be back on the same day.

Love love love the elf bedding! Have shared on fb

Bananabread123 · 27/11/2016 23:06

Quite possible to have more than one set of Christmas bedding!

Also, when is acceptable to wear Santa hats in public? It used to be done by a few shop assistants on Christmas Eve, but it seems to be uniform for some come December!
