Just had month 6 of TTC and negative tests still 😞
I know 6 months is nothing really but it is just getting me so down now. I have other DC that were conceived within a month or two but this was from a previous marriage.

I think it just feels like a long time because it is never far from my thoughts. Just feeling really sad at the moment 😞

2.5 years and after a 1 failed IVF cycle. I had DS after a frozen transfer.

Telling someone to relax, don't stress or try not think about it and it will happen is the most useless advice in the whole world to someone TTC.

pumpkinpumkin · 30/11/2016 14:15

6 months to conceive but ended in a miscarriage. 16 months to conceive again but had my beautiful DS. 6 months to conceive DD but I had very erratic periods as I was breastfeeding at the time.

6 months isn't a long time although it feels like an eternity when you're TTC.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 30/11/2016 14:16

1st pregnancy straight away - MMC
2nd pregnancy 2 months.
3rd pregnancy 5 months.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2016 14:53

10yrs ttc, 5yrs with dh and was on nhs ivf list, dh then died and got a letter saying we were at top of list 2w after dh died - double whammy :(

then 9mths later met my now df, wasnt even looking/thinking about dating but it happened natrually thro friends of friends and fb

and had the chat and bless him he was up for it, already had 3 kids in their 20's, but as he had kids lost my nhs go, which i still think is unfair as its me with the problem , not him

4yrs later, and 4 failed private ivf, the 5th hit the jackpot and im 23w pregnant

still a bloody miracle and found out monday this week, bubs is a girl

waves to 'bip*

yah to pipsqueak and wow at twins, love twins :)

OP - 6mths is nothing, tho obv disappointing month after month after month and get AF

tbh1/ 2/3yrs can be average age depending

potatoes, pasta and bread dont give up, i know ivf is very costly and can be for nothing :( but i would say dont give up yet, df and saved, worked overtime, got out loans and put on credit cards - yes awful paying it off when failed, but omg the one that worked makes it so worth it

username 17yrs :( and katedot 14yrs :( mungo 9yrs :( that s a bloody long time

have you ever got preg/thought about ivf, tho obv no guarantee as i said it took us 5 times and a lot of money and mental and emotional stress x

danTDM · 30/11/2016 15:17

blondes seen you for years on the MIC et al threads Smile I am THRILLED you are expecting a girl Flowers

DrDreReturns · 30/11/2016 16:11

First month for both of mine.

Choccyhobnob · 30/11/2016 16:16

11 cycles from coming off the pill. First 7 cycles I don't believe I was ovulating. Then stopped trying, then started tracking my temperature and used ov sticks and got pregnant first time we ddt at the 'right' time.

Groovee · 30/11/2016 16:21

Dd was a surprise after an effective contraception failed.

Ds took 9 months to conceive. The GP did say to come back after 6 months but my dad was very ill. He had his transplant and 4 weeks later I discovered I was pregnant.

Flingmoo · 30/11/2016 16:31

I got pregnant within a month both times. I must be some kind of super-fertile freak though.

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2016 16:46

LaurieMarlow I doubt stress helps but it does not stop conception.

Lots of things could stop it. It is basically an egg and a sperm meeting. Things like sperm count, blockages, lack of eggs or -very significantly- age of eggs, make a big difference.

But it does seem to potentially make some differences, maybe.

However, fertility treatment/issues/concerns all make people more stressed so it is hard to avoid! One thing that is unlikely to make people, trying to conceive, less stressed is being told stress stops women getting pregnant!

Thanks danTDM

I'm behind with mic so must watch this week s

TorchesTorches · 30/11/2016 17:12

9 cycles first time, 2 cycles 2nd time. Was 38. I heard years ago that it takes the average couple 9 months to get pregnant so i said to my DH that I wasnt going to worry or bother too much until 9 months was past. It seemed to work!

septembersunshine · 30/11/2016 17:31

Dc 1, 2 and 3 was 1 month...last dc was 3 months (I was 6 years older when we conceived the last child). I had the other three in my late twenties. I think we are just fertile together. I also didn't think about it, just carried on like normal and enjoyed the living. Had horrific pregnancies though with at least 3 or 4 major issues in each one (mind of balanced out the great fertility!)

Braywatch · 30/11/2016 19:52

10 months from taking my last pill. At around 8 months in I visited the GP about something not really related, mentioned I was TTC and she ended up sending me for a blood test which showed that I had low iron levels. She put me on iron tablets and I was pregnant six weeks after starting taking them. I think this is what helped me, but who knows if it really played a part. I would definitely recommend taking a multivitamin if you're not already.

Dulcimena · 30/11/2016 20:43

6 years (not counting time out for miscarriages)...think we've given up now tbh.

DeepFriedCamembert · 30/11/2016 22:26

DC1 took 2 months to conceive.
Currently 20/40 with baby number 2- pregnant a month after mirena removed. I didn't expect it to happen so quickly as I'm late 30s and a bit overweight.

hopsalong · 30/11/2016 22:49

DC 1, 1 month.
DC 2, 2 months (pregnant now)

Appreciate have been very lucky, especially as in late 30s with both. But like a couple of other people here I have terrible pregnancies. I sometimes wonder if I would mind the second-trimester vomiting less if I had tried for a bit longer...

Kiwiinkits · 30/11/2016 22:53

Within a couple of months of trying for all three of mine. No miscarriages or issues at all really. Appreciate I have been very, very lucky.

Kiwiinkits · 30/11/2016 22:54

Dulcimena Sad

Kiwiinkits · 30/11/2016 22:57

I think being on the pill for a long time stuffs up your natural hormonal balance so much that it takes a while for it to rectify itself (a year...? more...?)

blueshoes · 30/11/2016 23:10

5-6 months. Once on the first try but I miscarried. The ones that took longer were stickier, it seems.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2016 23:21

Kiwi - I was told almost more fertile when off the pill

Certainly was with some of my friends. Stopped pill and 1-2mths later 4 friends preg

Not me, tho I have unexplained infertility

MrsRhubarb · 01/12/2016 08:52

1st month for #1. 14 months for #2.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 01/12/2016 14:12

4 years. Started thinking about seeking advice, or considering a life without children when I fell pregnant with twins naturally. And we'd barely been near each other that month, think we DTD once!! Thank god we did Grin.

gemdrop84 · 01/12/2016 14:15

Dd: 2 months I was 24
Ds: 4 years (with 3 mmc in between) I was 28
