Just had month 6 of TTC and negative tests still 😞
I know 6 months is nothing really but it is just getting me so down now. I have other DC that were conceived within a month or two but this was from a previous marriage.

I think it just feels like a long time because it is never far from my thoughts. Just feeling really sad at the moment 😞

Tried for 3 yrs had one MC in April and gave up, I'd rather concentrate on my career and get on the property ladder now anyway. DP thinks our late 30s is a good time to start trying again once we have a comfier lifestyle and we've had holidays and experiences. It'll happen when its meant to happen OP and its sound's annoying to hear but stressing like this will just prevent it because your body senses your stress, try not thinking about it at all it'll probably happen

First pregnancy - 3 cycles (post COCP, so about 5m) - DD is now 5
Second pregnancy - 3 cycles - 8w miscarriage
Third pregnancy - 3 cycles - 7w twin miscarriage
Fourth pregnancy - 2 cycles - 36w stillbirth
Fifth pregnancy - 8 cycles - 9w miscarriage
Sixth pregnancy - 2 cycles - 21w tomorrow

It can be a long road - good luck Flowers

Inthenick · 30/11/2016 07:35

We've been very lucky.

DS- 1st month
DD1 - 1st month
DD2- 1st month

Now I'm really struggling to find a contraception that I'm happy with but desperately want to avoid pregnancy.

danTDM · 30/11/2016 07:37

2 months, I was 36 and husband over 50 so I was surprised.

PotteringAlong · 30/11/2016 07:40

Dc1 - 2 months
Dc2 - 17 months
Dc3 - 6 more months

maggiethemagpie · 30/11/2016 08:42

My first child = an accident

My second, I was surprised to discover I wasn't ovulating, but I was about 2 stone overweight. I went on a low carb diet (insulin levels can affect TTC) and conceived within a couple of months.

My doctor told me that female hormones are fickle things

maggiethemagpie · 30/11/2016 08:48

Suprisingly, my doctor put me on clomid after just one month TTC - I then took a further 3 cycles to conceive.

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2016 10:03

Stress does not stop you getting pregnant! Or refugees would never had babies.

Grindelwaldswand of you want a baby generically related to you and eh, please, please do not wait to your late thirties. It does happen then but it is harder to conceive then. If you are not using contraceptives it could happen naturally. But if it is a priority for you, you may regret waiting. (Speaking from some experience here).

Over a year then we miscarried (DH does work away though) then another 5 months after that and due in feb!

NotdeadyetBOING · 30/11/2016 10:42

18 months both times. Try not to worry!

LaurieMarlow · 30/11/2016 10:43

I don't think it's as black and white as all that. There seems to be good evidence that stress can effect fertility, though people handle stress in different ways and there will be other factors (like age and general health) at play.

GreenTureen · 30/11/2016 10:45

First pregnancy - 3 months (ended in mc)

Dc1 - 2 months

Dc2 - 14 months (I seriously thought there was something wrong with me after an awful birth with dc1)

Dc3 (still cooking) - Not TTC so no time at all. I'm seriously still baffled as is dh. We use condoms and avoid the middle of the month fertile periods. We were really, really careful...but lo and behold, surprise number 3 is on the way.

PrincessWizard · 30/11/2016 11:00

DD1 - once unprotected (unplanned!)
DS - 2 months
DD2 - 1 month

Ladydepp · 30/11/2016 11:11

Well over a year first time, with at least 9 months of properly ttc. I have short cycles and that didn't help.

Second time was 3 months! Weirdly I think pregnancy really sorted my hormones out.

You probably don't need any advice but if you fancy some here goes: take a multi-vitamin plus a good dose of high-quality fish oil.

Also, if you are very slim try putting on a bit of weight, this has helped at least 2 of my skinnier friends!

WankingMonkey · 30/11/2016 11:17

6 years..or thereabouts :/

No end of tests done, everything looked fine. Seemed to be just very bad luck.

Got pregnant, miscarried and expected to be back on the same waiting list...however was pregnant again a month later. Had DD, was pregnant again a few months after with DS.

Kinda like a bus in my case, wait forever then loads turn up at once

seafoodeatit · 30/11/2016 11:53

DC 1 - 6 months, DC2 4 years and lots of help , DC3 2 months.

Sparklyuggs · 30/11/2016 11:55

About 5 months actively but had been half trying half not trying for 9 months. I had a private fertility MOT which helped put my mind at ease as I have mild PCOS, and knowing that AMH and FSH levels were ok helped me relax for a bit. I know NHS say to try a year at my age (30) but it feels like a long time when it isn't happening.

lilyb84 · 30/11/2016 12:22

3 months (I was on my third cycle post-pill) - I was very lucky.

I spent the first month CONVINCED I was pregnant, distraught when I wasn't (don't judge me), second month absolutely obsessed with the whole process, then third month I relaxed and figured it would happen when it happened...

Whereland · 30/11/2016 13:14

I'm not sure how helpful it is to the OP to reply saying one month! Think she's looking for stories of those who may have taken around the same time as her and what eventually happened..

SpookyPotato · 30/11/2016 13:20

People are just answering the question in the title.

lilyb84 · 30/11/2016 13:26

I know I was very lucky and hope my post didn't come across as insensitive - I'll admit to not having read the op as thoroughly as I should have.

Op hang in there. This thread will probably show extremes as others have pointed out but irl I know people who got pregnant immediately, people for whom it took a relatively short but still excruciating 4-10 months, and people who were trying for 4 years despite being young, healthy, non-stressed etc etc etc.

Flowers for you and I hope it happens for you soon.

BoboBunnyH0p · 30/11/2016 13:37

1st it happened first or second time of trying.
2nd took around 6-7 months. Book a holiday and relax (fell with 2nd while on holiday)

cecinestpasunepipe · 30/11/2016 13:45

Ttc dd1 two and a half years
Dd2 conceived accidently whilst still breastfeeding and dd1 less than 6 months old. As far I remember the only chance we had to dtd due to dd1's terrible sleeping patterns!
Dc3 (miscarried) about 6 months ttc.

CupofTeaTime · 30/11/2016 13:48

2.5 years for each child (I have PCOS) and now have two children, a 4 year old and a 15 day old. I've also had one MC

Wilberforce2 · 30/11/2016 13:50

3 years for DS (8) with no known issues and then 4 years for DD (2) again with no known issues. Typically I then fell pregnant when dd was 4 months old completely out of the blue but it ended up being ectopic!

I had acupuncture out of desperation second time around and fell pregnant that month, no idea if it was a coincidence or not as I wasn't really invested in the whole acupuncture thing!!
