Just had month 6 of TTC and negative tests still 😞
I know 6 months is nothing really but it is just getting me so down now. I have other DC that were conceived within a month or two but this was from a previous marriage.

I think it just feels like a long time because it is never far from my thoughts. Just feeling really sad at the moment 😞

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 29/11/2016 12:42

7 years (with 2 miscarriages, fertility treatment and cancer treatment holding things up for 2 years)

abigwideworld · 29/11/2016 12:44

4 months. Happened as soon as we stopped trying

Shemozzle · 29/11/2016 12:49

Dc1 and 2 were on contraception/one time thing. So dc3 taking 6 months of perfectly timed at ovulation ttc was hellish! 3 months is average, so I really started to panic and assume I was now infertile after that! You have my sympathy. Fingers crossed for you x

hazeyjane · 29/11/2016 12:50

I'll just re-iterate what a pp said - that when people say you have to relax/stop trying and it will happen/eat papaya seeds on a Wednesday and a million other pieces of helpful advice. Just ignore. If you are going to conceive, you are going to conceive - whether you are relaxed or trying or not.

Believe me when I got pregnant with dd1 I was far from relaxed, and we were timing everything and giving ourselves an ultimatum (ie if it doesn't happen in xxx months,we will accept that we won't have children at all) - there is no magic formula and no rhyme nor reason to it.

fruityb · 29/11/2016 12:54

Two years. No reason for it itjust took ages!

MillieMoodle · 29/11/2016 12:54

DS1 - got pregnant first month.

DS2 - twelve months. It felt like a loooong time and I was beginning to think it would never happen. Did a test Xmas eve, negative. Drank loads Xmas day & Boxing Day. Was about to ring the docs on 27th to make an appointment to discuss it and see if I could have tests etc. but did a test to double check before I called and it was positive!

Good luck OP.

zofranks · 29/11/2016 13:04

first time no idea as we weren't trying & the doc said I was menopausal at 40, miscarried 2 weeks after finding out, that was in the August, was pregnant again by the October and had a successful pregnancy, not having anymore now though. Best advice I was given as I have a tilted uterus was make sure to orgasm, have sex every 3 days and after sex roll over onto your belly for 30 minutes. I tried the ovulating sticks but according to them I never ovulated so I just followed the sperm meets egg plan (google it). Good luck x

Baseballcupcakes · 29/11/2016 13:11

A year exactly. I was 31 but after 6 months I was convinced there was something wrong with us so we went to get tested. Every test we took seemed to come back with concerns about both our fertility so I stopped obsessively tracking whilst waiting for some more invasive tests. Found out I was pregnant a week before my gynaecologist appointment.

wotoodoo · 29/11/2016 13:30

First time with each of my 5, from the ages of 32 to 40 my age, my dh is younger.

tappitytaptap · 29/11/2016 13:53

3rd month of trying. 6 months is not so long at all though OP, know plenty of people who have taken longer and now have children Smile

tappitytaptap · 29/11/2016 13:54

Oh yes and the month we conceived I had started putting my legs up on the headboard Grin

LittleL232 · 29/11/2016 13:57

5 months, but first attempt once I properly charted my cycle.

Rainskyflower · 29/11/2016 14:02

First month for 1&2 and second month for #3, I track ovulation but obviously am very fertile

Cguk81 · 29/11/2016 14:07

4 months first time and got lucky on the second month second time around. I have a very short luteal phase and realised pretty quickly that it was going to cause me bother so I did heaps of research and then decided to take additional b6 supplement and it worked a treat. I'm convinced I wouldn't have my kids now if it wasn't for that.

mowglik · 29/11/2016 14:45

8 months for ds1 (which felt like an age at the time) and then 2.5 years with ds2 trying everything inc charting, not charting, not ttc but not preventing, acupuncture, clean diet, HSG and other fertility investigations, all sorts of supplements etc then ended up having IVF and worked first time.

I'm 23 weeks now with ds2. No fertility issues for either of us

We did stop trying for ds1 the month I fell pregnant though as we had a big activity holiday booked, so I think stress is a factor for us

mowglik · 29/11/2016 14:50

Meant to add: try reducing stress levels if poss OP as I have read that stress is a big factor in delaying where there are no other fertility issues

BlackNo1 · 29/11/2016 15:11

Conceived first cycle TTC with DD
Umm'd and ahh'd about the best time to TTC number two and once we decided it took over a year. I miscarried. I stopped TTC.

A few months can drag out like years when you're TTC though. I remember the feeling.

Fwiw, there is no such thing as the best or right time to start. I know that now.

SpookyPotato · 29/11/2016 15:22

First was a happy condom mishap, but tried for the second and it was the first try. Just very lucky. I hope everyone trying gets what they wish for soon Flowers

Chrisinthemorning · 29/11/2016 15:24

Pregnancy 1, 3 months, mc at 7 weeks
Pregnancy 2, a year, tfmr at 14 weeks
Pregnancy 3, ICSI 9 months after that. Now a very happy 4 year old
We got there in the end Smile

goldenrachita · 29/11/2016 16:39

On our 5th month. I feel that is pretty quick considering I was 41 and had just come off the pill, and had not been timing things right or using ovulation tracking at all. But it felt like a very long wait at the time....

Sierra259 · 29/11/2016 16:44

DC1 6 weeks. DC2 8 months. It felt like forever, especially as all my other NCT and mum friends were getting upduffed while we were ttc. Not to mention people at work. Plus the never-ending questions of "so, when are you having #2 then?" Angry

Fingers crossed for everyone trying.

GreyBird84 · 29/11/2016 16:52

With DS it took just under 3 years & happened 'naturally' after HSG - the dye through Fallopian tubes can sometimes act as a deep clean & help things along.

I'm 15 weeks Pregnant with DC2 & happened after 18months of trying & second round of clomid.

I assume you have had 6 cycles OP? For example I had 2 periods in our 1st year of TTC so I really only had 2 attempts.

I would head to your GP after 12 cycles.

bookworm14 · 29/11/2016 17:15

Got pregnant within six months of starting TTC, then had two miscarriages. It took 11 months for a pregnancy to stick.

Rrross1ges · 29/11/2016 17:20

DD 3 years.
DS contraceptive oversight.

MrsMandS · 29/11/2016 17:24

DC1 - first month
DC2 - 18 months
DC3 - first month
